Woodwind Ensemble Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813989 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Instructional,Multicultural,World. 11 pages. Regis Bookshar #6636635. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813989). Oboe Octet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (11 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single. In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for an Oboe Octet, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Silent Night will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1135076 Composed by Christian Paulson. Contemporary,Contest,Festival. Score and parts. 34 pages. Christian Paulson #734412. Published by Christian Paulson (A0.1135076). I originally wrote Parker's Lullaby for our orchestra to celebrate the birth of my first grandchild, Parker. Then I wanted to explore the sounds of the concert band with this piece...so away I went. A couple of fun things went into writing this piece originally. It had to be a lullaby, represent the anticipation of her arrival and the peacefulness of her sleeping, while contrasting her whimsical side with her bold and dramatic side. A couple of other things. The chords are rather jazzy because grandpa is a rather jazzy guy. At letter C, the drum part is grandpa being playful while the flute melody is her grandma doing the same. The ranges are comfortable allowing your band to sound full and confident. I think your horns will enjoy their heroic part in the climax. I'm very pleased with how this turned out. It was important that it kept its simplicity going from strings to band. I hope you enjoy it.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023641 Composed by Ben Ledochowski. 20th Century,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 15 pages. Ben Ledochowski #6217567. Published by Ben Ledochowski (A0.1023641). Flying Kites is a piece that had its start back in the summer of 2019, the summer I left my home and moved across the country for my first year college. The original version was a sort of goodbye letter to my best friend, as well as a thank you to him for helping make me the person I am now. Since then, the piece has gone through several rewrites and evolutions to reach its current form, and I'm more prioud of it now than ever. It's also helped me get accepted into the composition programs at two different universities by being a part of my auditions to both schools and remains to this day my most popular composition, so I figured I should do it justice by uploading it here since more than 2 years have passed since its inception. I hope you enjoy it, and happy playing!

Large Ensemble Bouzouki,Guitar,Harpsichord,Mandolin,Organ,Recorder,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017675 Composed by Filippo Azzaiolo. Arranged by Gordon Jackson. Classical,Folk,Multicultural,Renaissance,World. Score and parts. 8 pages. Gordon Jackson #6435525. Published by Gordon Jackson (A0.1017675). Chi passa per ’sta stradaThe sixteenth-century Italian composer, Filippo Azzaiolo (1530-1569), published three books of villotas (secular songs). In the first of these, Primo libro de villotte alla padoana a quattro voci, the first song (also the most popular) was Chi passa per ’sta strada (He who passes down this street). An exquisite chord sequence provide the basis for a simple melody, together with a set of variations I composed. The left-hand part (quite odd really, as I don’t play any keyboard instrument, but I’m sure you know what I mean!) shows the chords as I would play them on an octave mandola or a bouzouki (both tuned GDAE, one octave below mandolin or violin), and the chord diagrams show my fingerings for these. Other accompanists can simply use the chords’ letter names, also included, and work out their own fingerings/voicings. However, I strongly recommend keeping accompaniment simple and percussive, accentuating the rhythm, allowing the mandolin or other lead instrument space in which to play those variations.

Dylan Hessler #931495. Published by Dylan Hessler (A0.1346716). Sunset Ballad brings a sense of calm and doubtfulness but later, provides the listener(s) with a sense of hope and wonder. This piece features a solo violinist whose job is to capture the intense and climatic moments in this piece. This is one of my earliest works. I have only just started composing in the last few months and have no real training but I would like to make this into a career! This piece represents the beginning of my composition career as I'm only now starting to figure out what I want to accomplish. I hope you enjoy!(NOTE: I will immediately email you the individual parts after purchase!)-dylanchessler@gmail.com.

Violin Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.901389 Composed by Bill Monroe. Arranged by Camilo Barahona. Contemporary. 3 pages. Camilo Barahona #5997207. Published by Camilo Barahona (A0.901389). Hey there, this is Bill Monroe's Lonesome Moonlight Waltz in the style of Kenny Baker. I have carefully written in bow markings that map out what I feel is a smooth way to play this amazing tune. In some areas you'll see fingerings that take you into 2nd position for certain chords, which might be ideal for players with smaller hands. You'll see in the video that I just stay in 1st position except for section D, E, and the very end - it really depends on hand size, dexterity, and personal preference. Also included is a chord chart for guitar accompaniment where you'll see chord shapes for a guitar capo'd at the 5th fret. I'm a violin teacher so feel free to reach out if you have any questions and I'd be more than happy to help you out in any way I can.  .

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153086 Composed by Javien Keenan. Classical. Score and parts. 28 pages. Javien Keenan #753331. Published by Javien Keenan (A0.1153086). I've Always had a soft spot for slow pieces. A brighter version of one of my other pieces The Corruption, This shows a brighter side of life and the fondness of life or the things we used to know. I'm tired of hearing people say slow pieces are easy because there slow or there boring because they don't have fast notes. With this piece I hope to change people opinion on slower pieces. What We Used To Know was inspired for my reason I love slow pieces and I hope everyone finds a reason to adore them like I have.

Full Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.997183 Composed by Vincent M. Bonafede. Contemporary. Score and parts. 141 pages. Vincent M. Bonafede #5220243. Published by Vincent M. Bonafede (A0.997183). Divertimento is a work for full orchestra not to be taken too seriously! It is a diversion! It contains 5 very diverse movements. First  a prelude; second a generic ragtime tune; third a quiet reverie featuring a flute trio; fourth a march to the saloon on Saturday night and five a finale based on a  hymn tune from the Sacred Harp. Each movement is short. Whole work is about 9' 30.  All string parts are suitable for the average community orchestra.  I have conducted the work with two different community orchestras and feedback was positive from both musicians and audience members.

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.873028 Composed by Sally Whitwell. Contemporary,Musical/Show. 8 pages. Sally Whitwell #3867233. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.873028). Composer’s Note - Sifting the StarsIn 2015 I was commissioned by Sydney Philharmonia Choirs to create a Christmas show for kids. Being me, I decided that I wanted to make it a narrative show because I’m ambitious that way. It was called Cog in the Machine (a family Christmas tale with a twist) and alongside the carols was a gentle commentary on the commercialisation of the festive season, and how our priorities of family celebration are often overshadowed by the extravagance of gift giving. One of the main characters in the story is a smart, sassy teenage girl called Stella. She loves science, particularly astronomy (hence the name!) and it was therefore a family tradition for her to put the star on the top of the Christmas tree each year. This particular Christmas, she has a bit of a disagreement with her mother and as she’s putting the star on the tree, she goes into a kind of dream sequence, floating about the galaxies inside her head, trying to process her adolescent need for independence and protection in equal amounts. It’s a coming of age song.-- Sally Whitwell
