Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.506422 Composed by Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson. Arranged by Alpin Smart (transcription for voice and guitar). 20th Century,Blues,Broadway,Classical,Musical/Show,Standards. Score. 4 pages. SmartWorks Publications #117940. Published by SmartWorks Publications (A0.506422). From Kurt Weill's last Broadway musical, Lost in the Stars, which opened on 30 October 1949, a year before Weill's early death at the age of 50. Based on Cry the Beloved Country, it was adapted by Maxwell Anderson, who worked with Weill on his very first Broadway musical, Knickerbocker Holiday, in 1935, not long after Weill arrived in the USA as a refugee from Nazi Germany. The song makes terrific use of Weill's affinity with the Blues, the harmonies well-suited to the mellow tones of the guitar - a haunting piece!

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1255025 Composed by Carl Sigman, Matt Malneck, and Robert Maxwell. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Multicultural,Musical/Show,Singer/Songwriter,Standards,World. Score. 6 pages. Timothy Stapay #848614. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1255025). This is an arrangement of Shangri-la a mystical city of eternal life and love.  This mystical land was featured in the movie Lost Horizon.Shangri-La is a popular song written by bandleader Matty Malneck and Robert Maxwell in 1946 with lyrics by Carl Sigman.  The melody was used as the theme song for The Jackie Gleason Show and Shangri-La is also associated with the movie Lost Horizon and the novel by James Hilton. The term comes from Shangri-La as the hidden valley of delight in James Hilton's 1933 novel Lost Horizon. The term Shangri-La, especially in the 1930s and 1940s, was slang for heaven or paradise, and the song is about the joy of being in love.Shangri-La is a fictional place in Tibet’s Kunlun Mountains described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by English author James Hilton. Hilton portrays Shangri-La as a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains.  Shangri-La has become synonymous with any earthly paradise, particularly a mythical Himalayan utopia – an enduringly happy land, isolated from the world. In the novel, the people who live in Shangri-La are almost immortal, living hundreds of years beyond the normal lifespan and only very slowly aging in appearance.Ancient  Tibetan scriptures mention the existence of seven such places as Nghe-Beyul Khembalung.   Khembalung is one of several Utopia beyuls (hidden lands similar to Shangri-La) which  Tibetan Buddhists believe that Padmasambhava established in the 9th century CE as idyllic, sacred places of refuge for Buddhists during times of strife.

String Ensemble,String Trio - Digital Download SKU: A0.1027985 Composed by Stefan Perry. Contemporary. Score and parts. 4 pages. Stefan Perry #3121647. Published by Stefan Perry (A0.1027985). This String Trio has been written for general performance and above all for the pleasure of the performer. I am aiming for maximum flexibility for the performers. All written dynamics are not to be taken too literally. Never think too much about volume (eg pianissimo is quiet and forte is loud), but rather think about the application of the bow (as in softer bowing for pianissimo passages and stronger/heavy bowing for forte passages)and think of the rising and falling dynamics as breathing. Also there are no specific bowings (accept for a down bow at the beginning of each movement). I will leave that to the discretion of the performers so they can decide what works best for their playing styles and technical possibilities (there is no need to follow slurs to the letter providing the slurred passages are smooth as I intend). One more thing is that the software I used doesn't make key changes as visible as I like so I have written a note to indicate said key changes. I hope anyone who plays this receives maximum enjoyment from my composition. Happy music making!
