This sonata conveys different moods using various styles in each of the movements, all of which take some liberty and, at times, are vague with form.The first movement, inspired by Claude Debussy, uses a quasi mirror form, with the two motives connecting with a sudden yet seamless tempo change, which is supported by the driving rhythm in the piano, and a development in the middle of the movement.The second movement is a funeral march and is based on the chord progression built around the sustained B natural in the flute, which conveys a dreamlike atmosphere. As the progression transforms, there is an increasing sense of dread that unfolds until this feeling becomes primal before collapsing in on itself at the climax of the movement. From there, the progression returns more actively with, although not as strong as before, a sense of dread still present for the remainder of the movement. The movement is in ternary form (ABA), with a development in the first A section.The third movement is a more clearly defined rondo form and is based on themes that undergo subtle changes each time they return. Other themes include a recurring call and response between the treble and bass lines in the piano, which the flute participates in this exchange when it is presented again later, a reference to the second movement's progression, and a modal theme that floats in terms of harmonic and melodic structure. When the initial theme returns for the final time, a coda restates previous ideas as the finale gradually increases its tempo and concludes the piece. This movement is the most technically challenging, especially considering that I asked Natalie how fast she can double tongue. In general, there are a fair amount of high passages and big leaps. Cafe Terrace II for Piano, composed in June of 2007 was the second in a set of 3 pieces inspired by Vincent van Gogh's Café Terrace at Night. Like Cafe Terrace I it depicts the quiet conversations, the laughing, the crying, and the arguments, van Gogh may have observed while conceiving his masterpiece. The music begins with a very soft melancholy melody which slowly moves from its reserved beginning to a place of frenzy and intensity. This storm so to speak continues for a period of time and then finally reaches a reserved climax with the fury subsiding; ushering in a return to the opening melody which repeats in its entirety and then comes to a reverent ending.

As the texture in the music intensifies, it symbolises all forms of life engaging in their daily activities (bar 63). As the climax unfurls (bar 73), the focus returns to the majestic sun, as it continues its journey into the sky.This piece is to be played with the sustain pedal throughout. Specific pedal suggestions have been marked in various bars. Touches of rubato are required at times to allow the piece space. The melodic line must always be emphasized over the accompaniment, regardless of the clef.

This led to the aria Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix, sung at the climax of Delilah's seduction. The aria, written for a mezzo-soprano, beautifully expresses the seductive atmosphere and Delilah's intense passion. It's considered one of the finest arias in all opera.In the scores, the solo part plays both Delilah's and Samson's parts. In the duets period, Delilah's part is played by the piano and the solo instrument plays Samson's part. Samson's part is written in a lower range, emphasizing the contrast with Delilah's part.The original piece is written in D-flat major, which can be challenging for some string players. This version is transposed to G major for their convenience.

The bridge leads to the climax section where the initial rhythm continues with the third instrument imitates a tympani while the upper two instruments play the melody in harmony at fff volume.
