2 or 3 octaves handbells - Level 2- - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGB577 Composed by Kathleen Wissinger. Holy Week, Lent. With 2 or 3 octaves handchimes. Score. 4 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB577. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB577). UPC: 749193013823.Level 3+ * This dramatic original work is a musical interpretation of the text from Isaiah 53:4-5: Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows.... A simple accompaniment of quarter-note chords lies under the plaintive yet lyrical melody, which grows and develops throughout the first section. The melody and the accompaniment become increasingly more complex and aggressive until reaching a dissonant, fortissimo climax, when random ringing with chimes delicately accompanies a return of the melody. Appropriate during Lent or whenever this scripture passage is used (RCL, Year B, Proper 24.).

String quartet - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q771471 ‘hana no hanataba’. Composed by Julian Anderson. Downloadable. Duration 23 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q771471. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q771471). My 3rd String Quartet is in six contrasted movements. Certain musical figures recur across the work, but there are few themes as such. The main emphasis is on contrast of mood, texture, harmony, pacing and timing. Unlike many of my works this quartet had no extra-musical inspiration, and in principle should have no subtitle. Certain features already present in my music became more prominent in this new work: modes (limited collections of pitches) have always helped me to focus musical character, but here a sense of key note for each mode became much more pronounced, as did the difference between modes for each section of the work. A sort of hybrid key-system emerged (even with equivalents of major and minor) which is not normal tonality, nor does it aim to imitate it. Unlike tonality this key-system includes noises, extended performance techniques and intervals outside Western tuning as available resources. What I hope it does is to focus the listening experience onto different musical areas, to encourage a sense of both modulation from one area to another and to give the music a sense of goal. No conscious knowledge of this is needed when listening: the music should communicate directly on its own. Here, then, is this collection of six musical colours, related and unrelated, different yet belonging together, variable yet in a set order. Hence the subtitle, chosen both for both its sound and its sense: ‘hana no hanataba’ meaning, in Japanese, ‘bouquet of flowers’.A brief description:1)Moderately fast. Short droplets of sounds gather increasing momentum. 2)Very fast. Canons and bells at different speeds.3)Very slow – fast – very slow – very fast – very slow. The main slow movement and its main scherzo. An emphasis on non-tempered tunings and on inhaling and exhaling waves of sound. The slow sections feature florid melodic writing. In the exuberant scherzo competing duos and trios create imaginary folk music.4)Extremely fast/extremely slow. Open strings and harmonics fuse into a single string instrument – like a sort of large resonating Medieval tromba marina.5)Very fast. A variation on movement 2). Variation, Schoenberg told Cage, is just a sort of repetition ‘with some things changed and others not.’6)Slow - Very Fast - Fast – Slow. The opening calm harmonies and florid melodies evoke movement 3) in different music. The fast part features one overt theme: a fanfare-like call to attention which is subject to extensive development. There is much use of non-Western tuning. At its climax the music freezes into a frieze – a wall of sound standing in front of the audience with increasing obstinacy and certainty as the work grinds towards its cadence.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818187 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Easter,Sacred. 8 pages. Philip Le Bas #6333823. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818187). An anthem composed by Philip le Bas especially suitable for church choirs during Lent (or Advent) and Holy Week. It might also be particularly suitable for Remembrance services. The Jacobean poet Phineas Fletcher’s passionate prayer of repentance is here set to music for SATB choir and organ. In a series of pulsating descending scales the author’s words express heartfelt remorse for his sins, reflecting the story of Jesus and the weeping woman in Luke 7:36ff. This is real, deep sorrow and regret, looking to the Prince of Peace for forgiveness: at one poignant moment the music reaches a point of stillness as the slow tears continue to fall. The weeping then turns to anger, crying for vengeance, because sin doth never cease. The music rises to an intense climax, but suddenly vanishes; the anger is, after all, self-directed. Finally the text returns to a prayer of supplication to drown all my faults and fears, and the harmonies end with a hope-filled hint of future healing. Drop, drop, slow tears, and bathe those beauteous feet, which brought from heaven the news and Prince of Peace. Cease not, wet eyes, his mercies to entreat; to cry for vengeance, sin doth never cease. In your deep floods, drown all my faults and fears; nor let his eye see sin, but through my tears.  Phineas Fletcher (1623)The composer acknowledges with gratitude the ideas and help received from the Composition Workshop of Morley College during the Spring term of 2021, and particularly from its tutor Dr Paul Sarcich.

The melody throughout the piece is the same, but each time, it is varied, especially near the middle of the work, where the climax is reached. The article is meant to be played briskly, with emotion, and is inspired by or reminiscent of night. The poem that inspired Liebestraum No. 3 is about unconditional mature love, expressing the extent of the speaker's love through the sacrifice he's willing to endure. The piece is a crucial example of program music because it references poems about love and death.Franz Liszt's Liebestraume has influenced many composers, including:Richard Wagner: Liszt's compositions, including Liebestraume, influenced Wagner's music, particularly his operas.Hector Berlioz: Berlioz was a Liszt contemporary influenced by his music, including Liebestraume.Camille Saint-Saëns: Saint-Saëns was a French composer influenced by Liszt's music, including Liebestraume.Sergei Rachmaninoff: Rachmaninoff was a Russian composer influenced by Liszt's music, including Liebestraume. In summary, Liszt's Liebestraume has influenced music by being a perfect example of romantic and program music, inspiring emotion, and is considered one of the most beautiful and romantic pieces ever written.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1369590 Composed by Gareth Jones. 21st Century,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 7 pages. Gareth Jones #953956. Published by Gareth Jones (A0.1369590). The opening key of A Natural Minor depicts a cold and eerie morning before the dawn has broken. The key change to A Major warms the listener as the day approaches, and creatures from the earth and sky begin to wake. Notice the sounds of the day including bird calls (bar 35), the sun rising (bar 45), and church bells pealing in the distance (bar 58). As the texture in the music intensifies, it symbolises all forms of life engaging in their daily activities (bar 63). As the climax unfurls (bar 73), the focus returns to the majestic sun, as it continues its journey into the sky. This piece is to be played with the sustain pedal throughout. Specific pedal suggestions have been marked in various bars. Touches of rubato are required at times to allow the piece space. The melodic line must always be emphasized over the accompaniment, regardless of the clef.

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1155480 Composed by Fernando Duarte. Chamber,Classical. 8 pages. ArrangeMe #755758. Published by ArrangeMe (A0.1155480). When poetry, the elegy has a tender and sad tone written as a lament for the death of someone dear. Here, as music, albeit without words, it seeks to express the same feeling. Faced with the recent loss of his father, composer Fernando Duarte writes true lamentations in the form of melodies that wander through almost the entire length of the violin and piano. Themes announced by a very expressive violin, while the piano supports it in constant modulation in harmony, are followed by others where the two instruments sometimes in unison, sometimes alternating, but always talking to each other, paint the soundscape that seeks to express in music the pain of loss. Sixths and harmonics on the violin, references to the small melodic cells of the first part in the development, a climax with the violin playing octaves in fortissimo together with a no less aggressive piano, is followed by a melodic conversation with a decreasing dynamic that prepares the return of the second theme, for then the piece to rest in an ending built on the luminous Lydian mode, with an ascending and increasingly serene and peaceful melody, until total rest in a last breath. A reminder that even in the midst of pain, we still have the hope of resurrection. #piano and violin #elegy #elegia #piano e violino.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.835958 Composed by Traditional English Melody. Arranged by Colleen Adent. Christmas,Concert. Score. 7 pages. Colleen Adent #6116925. Published by Colleen Adent (A0.835958). This modern arrangement of What Child Is This explores the carol through a combination of refreshing jazzy sounds and dramatic piano writing. At the early advanced level, the piece begins with a mysterious, quiet introduction, which transitions into a syncopated rhythm that accompanies the first entrance of the melody, played by the right hand in expressive sixths. Throughout the arrangement, the melody undergoes a series of variations, with sixteenth-note decorations eventually spilling into a faster and pianistic section, which then leads toward a powerful climax with glorious octaves in the melody, rich bass notes, and triumphant inner voices. The music then fades away as quietly as it began-creating a musical journey that begins and ends with the hushed anticipation of the brilliant joys of the Christmas miracle to come.
