Large Ensemble B-Flat Trumpet,Bass Trombone,Horn,Tenor Trombone,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1036437 Composed by P. F. Strohm. 20th Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Jazz. Score and parts. 108 pages. Pete Strohm Music #641461. Published by Pete Strohm Music (A0.1036437). Dialogue (for Brass Ensemble) from American composer P. F. Strohm, is an up-tempo, jazz-based work written for a 10-part ensemble, comprised of two brass quintets, one using tuba and one using bass trombone. The antiphonal scoring with the two quintets makes the work ideal for brass sections looking for a hard-hitting showpiece. It employs two quintet groupings to create straight-ahead, ensemble energy. The two quintets trade off melodic and rhythmic figures throughout the opening. In the mid-section, two trumpets and the soprano sax trade solo lines, then combine in a riveting climax. The two quintets then trade tight, challenging phrases as the piece rockets to a big tutti ending. Dialogue is an exciting work for contest or concert, and has a Medium-Advanced level of difficulty. Total performance time is 4:00. Member, ASCAP.

This catchy solo voice or unison voices version of the original three-part anthem with accompaniment, sets a text by Revd Canon Dr Gordon Giles, and was composed for the 2022 RSCM Harold Smart Anthem Competition. The work plays with alternating A minor and A major tonalities, with three verses exploring forms of textural variation. The imitative recurring chorus is also varied on each return. The coda gradually builds in dynamics, texture and pitch, in setting repetitions of the word 'Amen', leading to the final A minor climax. This anthem is also available in versions for three-part choir and for SA choir, both with accompaniment, as well as a piano solo version titled 'Lauda', all from SMP.Duration: 3 minutes 30 seconds.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk

Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.755114 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 177 pages. Sy Brandon #3392241. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.755114). Concertino was composed during 2009 at the request of Dr. Andy Wen and premiered by him at the Region 4 NASA Conference in April 2011. The work is in three movements. The first movement is in an abbreviated sonata form in a spirited Vivace tempo. The first theme group consists more of motives rather than an actual theme and is characterized by interplay between the soloist and the band. The second theme group has a lyrical saxophone line over a staccato bass line. The development begins quietly with the treatment of a syncopated idea from the second theme using a trio of solo saxophone, timpani and euphonium. After further development, a variant of the first theme group returns. The recapitulation consists only of first theme group ideas before ending with a brief coda. The second and third movements are performed with out pause between them. While the first movement was created during 2009, the second and third movements are a reworking of an earlier work by the composer for alto saxophone and piano soloists with orchestra. A rubato Lento theme containing many triplets that is accompanied by lush harmony begins the second movement. It is followed by a more scale-wise melody that is treated contrapuntally. Both these ideas develop during the movement leading to a strong climax before returning to a quiet conclusion. The third movement is an Allegro, once again with a rhythmic opening idea that changes meter often, and a more lyrical second idea with scale-wise passages as counterpoint. The development of these ideas leads to a cadenza for the solo saxophonist, followed by a coda that brings the composition to a rousing conclusion. The score prints on legal size paper and the parts on letter.

Baritone voice solo and TTBB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.1.3428-E Composed by Alice Parker and Naomi Shemer. Arranged by Alice Parker. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st century. Octavo. 16 pages. Duration 6 minutes, 30 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3428-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3428-E). Hebrew. This arrangement was commissioned jointly by Brad Spencer, Scott Spencer, and the Washington Men's Camerata and first performed by the Camerata on June 13, 2015, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Naomi Shemer wrote this lovely poem honoring the fabled city, Jerusalem. Its history and mystery are evoked in each verse and in the passionate refrain. At the beginning, Jerusalem is seen asleep, alone, guarding the Temple Wall at its center. Then we picture a deserted, conquered city, empty and desolate. In the third verse, the writer reveals herself as the latest and least of all the notable scribes who have invoked the city, those writers of magnificent Psalms, odes and poems. At the end, people have returned to the city, enlivening its streets and neighborhoods, adding new chapters to its story. Naomi Shemer's music, with its mixture of nostalgia, melancholy, and desire, lifts her verses to memorable phrases: one does not want the song to end. In performing the work, follow the given dynamic markings and allow the song to slowly accumulate dramatic tension, saving the climax for the final refrain. -Alice ParkerDuration: 6:30.

Occasional Fanfare - Orchestra Score and Parts PDFThis short Fanfare starts with a Solo F Horn and Trumpet with a high woodwind countermelody which gradually builds by adding extra instrumental parts on each restatement, including 3 more horns until the full orchestra and percussion climax in the final time … Even though it is scored with 4 horns, 4 trumpets etc., it should still work effectively with fewer resources! The Euphonium part is optional but would enhance the sound! Percussion Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.584697 Composed by Jeff Tincher. Contemporary. Score and parts. 52 pages. Jeff Tincher #6019477. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.584697). This composition is a Bolero in 12/8. It begins with the initial rhythm that is played throughout the piece. The piece begins at ppp and increases in volume as each instrument plays the melody section. As each instrument enters, it forms a round of the same melody. The bridge begins with the continuing rhythm with each instrument adding their own note with the same rhythm until the complete quartet is playing the same rhythm in a chord. The bridge leads to the climax section where the initial rhythm continues with the third instrument imitates a tympani while the upper two instruments play the melody in harmony at fff volume. The finale is a repeat of the layering bridge to a single accented chord. Hear the full version of composition on Jeff Tincher's For Percussion Quartet CD. Duration = 6:43. Large Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553788 Composed by Katie Moss. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 31 pages. RayThompsonMusic #4569517. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553788). The Floral Dance is a popular English song describing the annual Furry Dance in Helston, Cornwall. The music and lyric were written in 1911 by Kate Emily Barkley (Katie) Moss (1881-1947) who was a professional violinist, pianist and concert singer. She was brought up in London and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. The song tells the story of an incident that apparently actually happened to Moss herself on a visit to Helston during the springtime 'Furry Dance' celebrations and the song was reportedly written directly afterwards as she was going home on the train. The songbook cover states that the music was founded on an old Cornish air. Katie introduces the original Furry Dance tune in the piano part just as the singer is describing the sound of the band, with its cornet, clarinet and big trombone; fiddle, cello, big bass drum; bassoon, flute and euphonium. In 1978, Terry Wogan recorded a version which reached #21 in the same chart.[3] Wogan's version was accompanied by the Hanwell Band, and omitted the final verse containing the climax to the story. On Top of the Pops, Wogan sang it live to a backing track.[4] A version of the song was prominently featured near the beginning of the 1996 film, Brassed Off.In 2016, a campaign for Christmas Number One was launched for Terry Wogan's version of The Floral Dance after his death. All proceeds of the downloaded single will be given to Children in Need. It is arranged for double wind quintet and tuba

Instrumental Duet,Keyboard - Digital Download SKU: A0.1497852 Composed by Jenni Roditi. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 17 pages. Jenni Roditi #1074264. Published by Jenni Roditi (A0.1497852). Piano Duo 2 pianos/4 hands. Curve, Between the Octaves points to a fugal past, where lines enter and build in stately flow. It invites lines to intermingle, without assuming they will all arrive somewhere, or at the same time. A certain intensity builds, then scales, both up and down, free themselves from the discussion of the interleaving lines. The chromaticism suggests curving between harmonies, and is nearly always ambivalent. An assertive chordal climax intervenes to shake off the tensions, yet this peels away into further curvatures that twist and twirl, until a final resting point agrees to present itself.  Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too. Piano Duo is ideally two Steinway grands, otherwise, whatever is available. An enjoyment of the tensions and relationships generated between the two instruments: grand-upright, upright-electronic keyboard is to be explored as a positive. Each piece creates its own world in the suite and can be part of smaller subgroups taken from the suite, in any combination, but the order of the pieces needs to be maintained if more than one is played. Here is a taste of the background to the musical world of this 53 minute compositional suite. During a reflective time I read the following: The whole philosophy of dharma art (Buddhist art) is that you don't try to be artistic, but you just approach objects as they are, and the message comes through automatically. (Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, from 'True Perception The Path of Dharma Art.' Shambhala 2008, p.133.) The 'objects as they are' became the 'octaves as they are'. As the pieces were composed the octaves had a centring and clarifying role that allowed other material to circulate around or play against them. They acted as pivots, repetitions, drones, ostinati, pointillist nodes, pedals, melodic features, struts, harmonic turnpikes, breathing spaces, bass lines: musical imperatives. The octaves called the musical shots most of the time. When the music pulled a semitone up or down and away from the octaves (as it did quite often) it was especially telling in the context of the ringing spaces the octaves were creating. I became interested in the subtle dislocation that two pianos could provide. By dislocation I mean a degree of tension between the natural acoustics of the two instruments in the room and the players idiosyncrasies as musicians.  The whole point of this work was to examine the nature of my syntax, grammar, and compositional thinking. The title demanded one thing above all: what notes am I going to use between these octaves?? My choice of notes was derived in most instances from the tempo, pitch, and rhythm of the initial octaves at the beginning of each piece alongside the individual word titles that I set out to explore as musical images. The audio was developed from Sibelius software, via MIDI to Logic samples of a Steinway grand piano.

Choral SATB Chorus - Digital Download SKU: H1.C5391DP Composed by Allen Pote. Piano Accompaniment. Lent, Good Friday, Atonement, Cross of Christ, Sacrifice. Octavo. 8 pages. Hope Publishing - Digital #C5391DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.C5391DP). Original anthem Allen Pote has written this anthem in memory of his brother who recently died. Using the familiar scriptural passage from Isaiah, which foreshadows the suffering of Jesus, he has chosen a haunting melody in F minor to poignantly express the text. With a pulsating rhythm, this tone painting moves toward the climax - and by his suffering, we are healed, which resolves by the use of a major chord. This dramatic and powerful piece is ideal for any Holy Week service.
