Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.791040 Composed by Irving Berlin. Arranged by Kevin P Holdgate. Contemporary. Score and parts. 21 pages. Kevin P Holdgate #4966967. Published by Kevin P Holdgate (A0.791040). There's No Business Like Show Business is an Irving Berlin song, written for the 1946 musical Annie Get Your Gun and orchestrated by Ted Royal. The song, a slightly tongue-in-cheek salute to the glamour and excitement of a life in show business, is sung in the musical by members of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in an attempt to persuade Annie Oakley to join the production. It is reprised three times in the musical but for the purposes of the show that I made this arrangement for only 2 verses were required... a third verse could easily be added of course with appropriate lyrics. The song is also featured in the 1954 movie of the same name, where it is notably sung by Ethel Merman as the main musical number. The movie, directed by Walter Lang, is essentially a catalog of various Berlin's pieces, in the same way that Singin' in the Rain-which starred Donald O'Connor as well-was a collection of Arthur Freed songs. There was also a disco version of the song made during the 1970s, with Merman reprising her singing role in The Ethel Merman Disco Album. The song became one of Ethel Merman's standards and was often performed by her at concerts and on television. This is a simple arrangement of the song playable by all levels of ensemble

Small Ensemble B-Flat Clarinet,Horn,Viola,Xylophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1080531 Composed by William Brenner. Classical,Contemporary. Score and parts. 31 pages. William Brenner #684755. Published by William Brenner (A0.1080531). Nature Morte | by William Brenner (Still life) For quartet: Clarinet in Bb, Horn in F, Viola and Xylophone This is my final project for my 2nd semester in college. I hope you enjoy it! The piece explores complex musical writing and technical elements. My goal was to explore this kind of composition while following my typical way of writing music: expressing a story or an image through music. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Program note: Many times throughout history, cycles and elements of nature like birth, death and, of course, love have been extremely rich sources of inspiration for composers. However, even though it has been the main subject of many musical works in the past, it is still pretty rare for nature to be represented as a cycle used when describing humankind. Therefore, the goal of the piece Nature Morte is to not only show the cycle of life present in nature, but also address the cohabitation of death and life within this same cycle. Paintings by Jan Wijnants like Le repos des chasseurs aux faucons et Paysage avec bovins sur une route de campagne wonderfully illustrates this phenomena. This dutch painter often uses dead trees and big tree stumps in his work, which symbolizes typical fields and landscapes from the 17th century. This demonstration of coexistence between life and death, as well as this idea of cycles within life in nature, are the main sources of inspiration for this piece. Given that the idea of life and death within nature is inspired by motionless elements in visual art, it explains the chosen title: Nature morte (which could translate as “Still lifeâ€).

2 Pianos,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.977034 Composed by Paul SanGregory. Contemporary. Score. 29 pages. Distant Engraver Music #3536815. Published by Distant Engraver Music (A0.977034). Each of these four short pieces has its own character, color and rhythmic flow. Because the interplay between parts is sometimes complex and challenging, they can provide wonderful ensemble workouts for performers as well as fun and exciting musical experiences for audiences. The title Harmonic Spaces refers to both the idea that they are musical spaces filled with colors and characters as well as to the widely-spaced harmonic intervals upon which those aspects are built. Each movement is based on one or two wide intervals that mimic the spacing of overtones (or partials) in the harmonic series. This approach allowed the composer to produce unique harmonies, colors and atmospheres. For listeners, of course, knowledge of these intervals isn't important, even though the colors, characters and atmospheres they produce is. Each movement is described briefly below: I - Simply and gracefully moving forward. (9th and 3rd partials)This gently flowing movement is a slow progression of widely-spaced chords with gracefully rising and falling strings of notes woven in and around them. The chords often appear in groups of two, with the second being quieter, like an echo of the first. That creates a sense of harmonic space within which the delicate lines move in and out of agreement with the chords.II - With a steady, even flow (or groove). (7th and 5th partials)The harmonic partials of this movement are what give dominant 7th chords their characteristic sound and function. Furthermore, because 7th chords are an important part of jazz harmony, jazz influences enter into this piece. Listeners may notice the outlines of gliding 7th chords, swinging meters and syncopated rhtyhms reminiscent of jazz.III - Gentle, flexible, but rhythmically accurate. (11th Partial)This movement unfolds slowly like a quiet summer afternoon under a shade tree watching lazy clouds. Because the 11th partial is a note that falls between the cracks of the piano keyboard, both the perfect 4th and augmented 4th (in very wide spacing) are used to approximate it. Although this creates some non-traditional harmonies and non-chord tone effects, the piece is tranquil, peaceful and beautiful. IV - With precision, energy and excitement. (13th Partial)This energetic finale uses much syncopation and rhythmic interplay as well as wide-ranging arpeggios that get shared between the two players. The primary interval often appears as widely spaced parallel motion, which adds a special color or flavor to the rhythms. The result is a joyful romp in a playground of rhythm, color, motion and contrast. (duration of all four pieces is ca. 12 minutes) This work was funded by the National Culture and Arts Foundation of Taiwan (ROC)

Piano,Trumpet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750361 Composed by Alex Lewis, Eddie Lewis. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score and part. 6 pages. Tiger Music #6339105. Published by Tiger Music (A0.750361). Although this composition is called Belief, it doesn't sound particularly religious (to my ears). There is a musical program you might have heard about called Finale. On Finale, you can type in notes for instruments and play it back in real time to hear your new creation. When I played it, I got the idea for the name Belief because it sounded so much like a musical theme from a kids' movie. Anyone who starts playing the trumpet naturally believes that they will eventually learn how to play the trumpet. People usually think they will be successful at any project whenever they start. Now real life is more complicated than that, of course. But I think Belief is a fitting piece for somebody in the Trumpet Pioneer stage. It's a more simple time. Since it's a simple time, the message should be simple as well. This is a wonderful first performance piece for trumpet players to learn. They can learn it after only a few lessons and already sound good when they perform with a pianist. This would be good to use for a concert at a church or school. Buy this composition, practice it, and play it in front of friends and family and your school or church.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1276116 By Michael Swedberg. By Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Terrence Niska. 21st Century,Classical,New Age,Pop. Score. 8 pages. Niska Music Publishing #867876. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.1276116). One of the earliest CDs I bought was a CBS Great Performances disc entitled “Pachelbel’s Canon: Baroque Favorites.†I can recall listening to it over and over. Among my favorites were Handel’s “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba,†Mouret’s “Rondeau,†Albinoni’s “Adagio for Strings and Organ in G minor (which I later discovered was actually written by Remo Giazotto in 1958), and, of course, Pachelbel’s Canon in D.The Canon has been a source of musical inspiration to a great number of artists over the years including Maroon 5’s “Memories†in 2019 and George Winston’s “Variations on the Kanon by Johann Pachelebel†from his 1982 album December. My arrangement is a series of variations starting with a simple statement of the chord progression and gradually making use of the themes as the piece progresses. In this respect, it is more of a chaconne than a true canon. (A chaconne being a type of musical composition which uses a repeated short harmonic progression as a vehicle for variations and melodic invention). It eventually works its way to a section of forte chords based on the rhythm of the second theme before gradually returning to a simpler use of the chords and bass line from the opening.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.901077 Composed by Paul Copeland. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 8 pages. Paul Copeland #4270195. Published by Paul Copeland (A0.901077). Here is my little avant-garde improvisation on the very well known J.S. Bach Two Part Invention in B Flat, that just about every piano student has learnt at one time.Bach did not give any musical directions in his scores for keyboard, and I have therefore provided two versions; one version without any performance instructions, and the other version with minimal instructions. I suggest you look at the version without performance instructions, and work out your own interpretation. One interpretation might be to play the piece as if you are playing a two manual harpsichord. You could have two volumes for various sections, say pp and mf, but of course you would not have any crescendo or decrescendo in your performance. Michael Kieran Harvey,. an internationally acclaimed concert pianist and composer performed this piece as part of my prize winning work Audacious Binary Forms. Here is a link to the world premiere performance http://bit.do/jsbachI hope you enjoy my little musical offering. Best wishes to you in your music making, and bye for now.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1167528 Composed by Larry Williams. Contemporary,Folk,Jazz. Individual part. 80 pages. Larry Andrew Williams #767908. Published by Larry Andrew Williams (A0.1167528). A WORD FROM THE COMPOSER Is anyone interested in new reading material anymore? I know that when I was a kid in nineteen hundred and something, the quest for new musical pieces was always one of the funnest aspects of the whole musical journey. Of course I did learn that it would take a long time to  nd those few that would resonate with me for a lifetime, but it was always fun trying them all out. It still is, in fact. Well, times change and people change, but I’d still like to believe that same factor carries on. You know, the one about trying out all that music to get to the few you keep. And what about the few we do keep? For guitar players, was it always a classic from the usual suspects, like Albeniz, Sor, Tarrega,, Granados, Rodrigo, Brouwer, Barrios, Villa-Lobos, or anything by Bach? Was it something our band director or private instructor, one of our friends, or our parents wrote? Or – Heaven forbid- something that maybe we ourselves wrote? Or some “unknown guy.â€Â Consider this.Just how often did some unknown composer's piece greatly affect us as we waded through a daunting pile of the familiar from the known masters? And since some, if not most of these classics are required reading, how often did we even get around to giving this unknown guy's piece a try?And furthermore, was this unknown guy - shudder...alive? Let’s face it. In the composer arena, we the living, stand no chance against the deceased (God rest their souls) But by saying “they don’t write ‘em like that anymore,†are we denying ourselves new ground to be broken, doors to be opened, frontiers to be discovered? And isn’t that pioneering spirit just plain ol’ curiosity when it comes right down to it? Well I believe the key lies within the carrying out of these notions that curiosity places in us. It’s climbing the mountain simply because it is there. So, for right now, I’m that unknown guy and I would only urge you to break new ground every day. Lots of trends, ideas, and interests will come and go in your life, but always hang on to that curiosity. It’s what makes the world a smaller neighborhood. Larry Williams.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1164828 By Judy Garland. By E.Y. Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Film/TV,Jazz,Standards. Score. 3 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #765152. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1164828). This is my (Thomas Gunther’s) Solo Piano Arrangement of Over The Rainbow. (Also see PopJazzKeys.com/Over-The-Rainbow).I believe the arrangement is suited for intermediate to advanced players. There are different technically demanding elements to it, from polyphony (which require great finger independence), to the techniques associated with the Romantic period (like the ability to work the sustain pedal, arpeggios, and playing thick chords). The video below shows me performing it (with close-up of hands and sheet music), followed by important practice tips!) WHO IS IT FOR?I think classical and jazz pianists will both love it for different reasons. Classical musicians might like to play something more contemporary with a jazzy touch. And jazz musicians might like to studying it for inspiration, or to improve their sight reading and technical skills, or simply because they love it.ABOUT THE SONG Over The Rainbow is one of my favorite classic jazz standards. Most of you might know it from the classic movie The Wizard Of Oz, for which it was actually composed (and sung by Judy Garland).I love everything about this song, it’s melody (which is so cleverly based on a descending diatonic stepwise motion during the [A] section), the harmony, and of course the lyrics that inspire us to believe there might actually be more to life than what we are experiencing day in and day out, well worth dreaming about and searching for.ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF LYRICSTo me it is important to study the lyrics of a song before I start arranging it. The lyrics guide me in my search for how I want the arrangement to impact the listener emotionally.
