Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533667 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary. Score and parts. 54 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3037087. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533667). Pittsburgh Concerto (2005) was written for the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic and isdedicated to Amy Stabenow, concert manager at Carnegie Mellon’s School of Music. Thepiece was conceived as a tribute to the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.The work contains only two specific “programmatically inspired†images related toPittsburgh. They form the outer two sections of the work. The inner four sections areinspired more abstractly by various aspects of the city, its landscapes, and its people; theyfeature a series of solos and duets for many members of the orchestra – in the manner of a“concerto for orchestra.â€The opening of the work is inspired by Pittsburgh’s history as America’s steel capital.Colors and sounds of the clangorous industrial age of America’s past are evoked. The basicmusical material (a six-note cell) for the entire work is presented in this aggressiveintroduction. Throughout the rest of the work, this basic material is developed in ways thatrange from lushly romantic to aggressively athletic. The following section is marked “slow, lush†and features a duet first between trumpet andtuba, over warm harmonies in the orchestra. A brief duet for vibraphone and marimba leadsto an extended viola solo. The next section is fast and energetic. It begins with an athletic duet for English horn andbass trombone, followed by a ringing duet of tubular bells and crotales. The final solo is forviolin, as the orchestral texture disintegrates around it.The next section, marked “slow, mysticalâ€, begins with a duet between piano and bassclarinet. A passionate horn duo follows before a passage for solo bass leads directly into thenext section. This section is fragmentary and halting. An unpitched duo of bass drum and flexatonebegins, leading to an aggressive and abortive duet between solo flute and bassoon. Finally,an extended cello solo closes the section. The final part of the work is inspired by my first visit to Pittsburgh. When driving in fromPittsburgh airport (which is far outside the city), the city itself is “hidden†from the road byhills. Upon reaching the hills, one enters the Fort Pitt tunnel and, after a few moments, emerges from it on a suspension bridge over the Monongahela River. Late at night, this wasa truly breathtaking moment as the city and its rivers emerged suddenly in a mass of glitteringlights. The ecstatic rush of the lighted city at night is portrayed in this section – amidstfragments from the opening, recalling the industrial past, now transformed into somethingnew.Instrumentation3 Flutes (3rd dbl. Low Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799605 Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. Romantic Period. 2 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #3455867. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799605). A low-voice-friendly transposition of this relatively little-known Schumann song about the Lorelei (a mythical mermaid-like creature from the Rhine river). It has a one-octave range from C3-C4 as written, so it’s great for an undergraduate singer still sorting out technique. If you would like to commission a customized transposition in another key, please contact me through my website (linked below).About the Arranger:Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo is a versatile pianist, composer, and scholar currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. She holds a B.Mus in Music Theory from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she studied piano under Michele Cooker and Louis Nagel; she also studied composition with Bright Sheng and basso continuo/harpsichord accompaniment with Edward Parmentier. In 2006 and 2007, Nicole appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players, featuring works of J. S. Bach and Mozart alongside two performances of her own Piano Trio in C minor. Following her graduation from Michigan, Nicole completed an MM in Music Theory from Indiana University-Bloomington, where she has recently become a PhD candidate in the same field; her dissertation research will explore relationships between selected early partimenti (instructional sketches used by Italian composition teachers) and George Frideric Handel’s compositional techniques. Currently, Nicole is a sought-after private instructor of piano, music theory, and composition on the IU campus, where she is also an active mostly-vocal accompanist. Nicole continues to enjoy musical partnerships with students of nearly every current IU voice department faculty member (and she unashamedly absorbs and borrows teaching/coaching/performing tips from all these professors). In addition, she has taken French and German diction courses with Prof. Gary Arvin. Notable recent engagements include the 2016 National Society of Arts and Letters Vocal Competition (multiple entrants); the Opera Night at North benefit concert with students of IU's top-ranked opera program (among them Accidental Tenor Andrew Lunsford); and two long-term cruise ship performing contracts with violinist Amy Schlicher as the Duo del Mare. When not working on one of her many concurrent musical projects, Nicole might be found maintaining The Collaborative Pianists’ Community on Facebook, cuddling the nearest dog, looking for opportunities to maintain her Spanish and Italian language skills, and raising and releasing monarch butterflies. Clarinet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.834094 Composed by JOHAN B. KOK (1889-1954). Arranged by BRIAN W. COPPING. 20th Century,Concert,Standards,World. Score and part. 7 pages. EMK Music #6508287. Published by EMK Music (A0.834094). ‘Joska’, originally written for two Mandolins, Mandola and Guitar, bears the subtitle and style of the ‘Zigeuner Romance’ or ‘Gypsy Romance’, and it may well have been inspired by Monti’s better known ‘Czardas’, which, significantly, was also originally written for Mandolin and Piano. Both pieces have contrasting slow and fast sections, which is typical of Central European ‘tavern music’, commonly associated with Hungary. ‘Czardas’, of course, means ‘tavern’ in Hungarian.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.865872 By Lady Gaga. By Nadir Khayat and Stefani Germanotta. Arranged by Charles Beale. Pop. Octavo. 12 pages. Charliebmusic #5309477. Published by charliebmusic (A0.865872). This 2009 worldwide hit (11 times platinum) by Lady Gaga was one of the early songs that established her as a superstar, and an experimental pop artist, beloved by the critics as well as the fans. The lyric is about relationships and dealing with fame, and it still excites singers and audiences alike. This TTBB arrangement is intermediate, taking T1s to top Ab, and captures the upbeat and at times outrageous spirit of this song, while keeping tessitura and vocal demand manageable. It could also work as a singalong.
