Here's an adaptation one of roughly 500 different recorded covers of this Antonio Carlos Jobim bossa/jazz classic. It's built on John LaBarbera's down-tempo ballad version for the Buddy Rich big band. Trombonists know this one for two features: a gorgeous but challenging bass 'bone solo, and a tricky but gorgeous 'bone section soli. I've plugged the tuba in for part of the bass 'bone solo (it would take a superhuman tuba player to manage all of it) and preserve the soli in quintet form.

This arrangement of a favourite song is perfect for beginner students as it is written mostly in Middle C position, 5-finger style.  The beginning and ending have the fun chords that are used in the original piece, but in an easier style for beginners to manage.  This arrangement includes the introduction and  chorus of the song with the fun introduction chords repeated at the end.  It would be a fun piece to learn and would be suitable for concerts or recitals. How can your trombone quartet gain more audience?

By playing with other people. You want your concerts to be well visited and to help you with that, I make arrangements (and compositions) for trombonequartet with guitar, piano, bass and drums. They also contain an optional bass-trombone/ tuba part and sometimes a solo part. This one contains a trombone solo part.

This arrangement of A Whole New World, is scored for Solo Trombone in front of the ensemble mentioned above.  There are two solo parts in the set. One high and and one low. You can combine those two if that makes you more comfortable. Durata: 3,5 minutes (approx.)

The song itself is about Alladin taking Jasmine on a ride on the magic carpet. The lyrics are all about discovering what you didn’t know about and be grateful for all the adventures life gives. This makes it a perfect piece to play in a variety of places, like weddings, celebrations of any kind, graduations, not to mention many types of concerts.

With a few adjustments you can also use parts of this arrangement and make it work. It’s most powerful when you use the whole band, but it still makes a lot of sense if you have to skip some of the parts. There are so many times I have had to skip a piece in a concert, using a not as good substitute, because we didn’t have the people to play it. In this series I have made it easier to still be able to play it, even if you don’t manage to cover every part. Check it out and you’ll understand.

Commissioned for the Swiss Richard Wagner Society for a performance in the Richard Wagner Museum (Tribschen) 2022, this chamber arrangement of Richard Wagners Vorspiel (Prelude/Overture) to his opera 'Die Meistersingers von Nürnberg' retains the original sound and intention of the full orchestra but for an ensemble of 12 players. String parts are as close as possible to the original, and can be expanded without modification to string sections of more players. The music consists of the melody with chord symbols added, so friends can join in on guitar, mandolin, piano, banjo or accordion. Some of the polka style tunes are quite simple, while some of the reel style tunes are fast and furious. As in most Bluegrass/Country music, the keys are easy, mostly D and G. Players with two to three years experience should be able to manage most of these uplifting and beautiful tunes.

This little piece is just so much fun! Only two words (if you don’t count ‘Oh’). It is almost as if the sopranos and altos are arguing about which fruit is better. Very very easy and loads of fun. Children's Choirs - as young as 5 year olds - can manage this piece. This is a perfect massed piece for elementary concerts.

Kyrgyz Rhythms is a piece written for piano with an optional accompaniment for unpitched percussion. It has a lot of rhythmic and melodic diversity, and switches tempo and key signature frequently. It is an excellent way to really practise using the left hand, while playing a melody with the right. The range of the song goes from A1 (two octaves and a minor third below middle C) to C8 (four octaves above middle C). While you can octave adjust it, to play it truly, you will need more than just a regular keyboard.

The percussion part, while it is technically written for bass drum, can be done with any non-pitched percussion instrument, including your hands or feet, if you can manage to pull it off. The percussion is optional, however, I think it is how the song should be played.

Concert Ready is designed to feature your latest batch of new players with full Wind Band accompaniment. Schools and music centers will recognize the scenario where your last cohort of new starters has been playing a little while, your trumpeters can play most of a C scale, your clarinet players can manage quite well below the break (so long as they have a reed that works), and your saxophone players have just discovered the volume control!  They are keen and enthusiastic to take part in their first concert.  This piece gives them the opportunity to play a fun piece with a band, with any number of their peers (strength in numbers!).

The Wind Band is scored with multiple cues to enable performance from non standard instrumentation, plus additional parts for example in Eb and treble clef to cater for Tenor Horn, Baritone and Trombone etc. Parts are also designed to scale dynamically (play if directed comments) to balance the size of the solo group.

The PDF is in A4 portrait (44 pages) and contains a full score and parts.  The duration of the piece is just over 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Note that the difficultly level for the soloists is Easy/Beginner, whilst the level for the band is intermediate and over, roughly about band grade 2/3.

Bachata in B Minor is a single-movement piece for the Youth Orchestra by Composer William Pagán-Pérez. This piece is in the key of B Minor. This piece was inspired by some cinematographic composers and popular Bachata (Latino rhythm) from the Caribbean. Composer Pagán-Pérez followed some teachings organized in Volume I of the Suzuki Methods to compose the piece for the string sections and a grade level 1 or 2 for the wind and brass instruments (rhythms, melodies, or range). The key of B Minor can be a challenge for the winds and brass (especially for clarinets and trumpets in Bb), but music teachers, conductors, and students will manage the challenges by practicing scales and arpeggios. Imagine for a minute - your contract is coming up for renewal, your employer is just about to celebrate their wedding anniversary and they ask you to organise the entertainment for the big party. That's OK, you know you can do it under normal circumstances but they give you an impossibly short deadline to sort it out. I don't know about you but I think I might panic! Well, that's what happened to Paisiello. The Grand Duke Alexander needed a new opera for his wedding anniversary and pure Paisiello had to come up with the goods. Paisiello found a libretto, liked the story but needed it reworked. So not only did he manage to get the libretto rewritten but he also composed some great music. This Overture is just good old play! I hope you enjoy.
