Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.870845 Composed by Charlie Barnet. Arranged by Lawrence Killian. Contemporary. Score and parts. 18 pages. Linden Brass Press Inc. #6655763. Published by Linden Brass Press Inc. (A0.870845). From Wikipedia: Charles Daly Barnet (October 26, 1913 – September 4, 1991) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader.Skyliner...was written as the theme music for the late 1940s US Armed Forces Network program Midnight In Munich, broadcast from the AFN station in Munich, Germany, and hosted by Ralph Moffat. Thanks to the station's immensely powerful twin 100 kW transmitters, AFN Munich could be heard as far away as the UK; this, and the popularity of Moffat's show, evidently helped Skyliner and many other contemporary American swing hits to gain wide popularity across Europe and become hits in the UK. The title (which was originally printed as Sky Liner) may be a reference to the practice of American pilots flying into Munich who used the radio station's powerful signal to home in on the city.

It was written by the folk poet Anton Günther in 1903. The text written in typical Erzgebirge dialect is widely used in many terms. The author Anton Günther himself wrote the title first Feieromd, later Feierohmd, and smoothed it for the book edition of his songs ultimately to Feierobnd. The song deals with the closing time. The stanzas describe the environment and how it feels (from: Wikipedia)

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1134890 Composed by Barbara Arens. Arranged by Barbara Arens. Children,Christmas,Contemporary,Holiday,Traditional. Score. 27 pages. Barbara Arens #734920. Published by Barbara Arens (A0.1134890). From the Foreword: Why “Christmas in Dettelbach Since 1989, I’ve had the pleasure of living in a historic house in the old town centre of Dettelbach in Lower Franconia in Germany. Small as it is, Dettelbach – complete with medieval encircling fortified wall, Gothic parish church, late Gothic Town Hall, Pilgrimage church, and many half-timbered houses – has officially been a town since 1484. A very picturesque place! When my children were growing up, we had ‘Song Time’ at the piano every evening after dinner. During Advent, we’d sing innumerable English and German carols. This little collection of 12 carols, half English, half German, is just a tiny fraction of our favourites – as not all dear old Christmas carols lend themselves to a contemporary treatment. The main challenge here was to make the arrangements as simple, but as lyrical and contemporary as possible, with my piano students in mind, who are generally bored with standard arrangements of all-too-familiar Christmas songs.

Clarinet Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.578952 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,World. Individual part. 8 pages. David Warin Solomons #2063471. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.578952). Journeymen (young craftsmen) in Germany used to be required by law to go from town to town to practise their skills rather than stay in one town, which gave rise to many songs, of which Es es es und es is the best known - (the words of that song mean it is a hard conclusion but I have to leave this town). These journeys were referred to as Walz so these workers went auf der Walz. The idea of travelling auf der Walz was also taken up in Australia (where they called it on the Waltz or on the Wallaby) and it gave rise to the famous song Waltzing Matilda, although in the Ozzie song the traveller was a swagman rather than a craftsman. So I have called this arrangement On the Wallaby. In neither case was the 3/4 time of the Waltz used although there is probably a connection: I initially tried to create this merged arrangement in 3/4 but it didn't seem to work satisfactorily... So here is a 4/4 waltz based on the two traditional and related songs. The pdf file contains score and parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview.

Instrumental Solo,Piano,Piccolo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549362 Composed by Bach-Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Contemporary,Easter,Wedding. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3490121. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549362). This arrangement follows the original Bach prelude and so excludes the extra measure that Schwencke introduced in 1783. If you prefer the extra measure, please see Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria, Schwencke version for Piccolo & Piano - S0.661869. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance with minimal page turns for the accompanist. The duration with repeat is about 4:50. Score: 6 pages. Solo part: 1 page, piano part: 4 pages. Based on Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Well suited for church meditations or school programs or recital encores. Ave Maria Ave Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created an engaging new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival               Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.

Published by Kevin P Holdgate (A0.790931). The Versatile Brass Sextet CollectionThis arrangement is for Brass Sextet and is accessible to players of all levels. (Includes parts for Horn in Eb, Trombone and Eb Bass in Treble Clef)Suitable as a concert item or as part of a Bier Keller setThe march was written around 1889 in Ulm, Germany, by military music composer Carl Teike. Teike wrote many pieces for the marching band of Grenadier-Regiment König Karl (5. Württembergisches) No. 123. When bringing his newly composed march to the regiment, the Kapellmeister Oelte simply told him: We've got plenty enough of musical marches, put this one in the stove!. This episode eventually led to Teike taking his leave of the band and naming the march as Alte Kameraden. Teike later worked as a police officer but also continued composing military marches, adding up to approximately 100 in total.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1202804 Composed by Richard Hirsch. 20th Century,Contemporary,New Age. Individual part. 9 pages. Richard Hirsch #801568. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1202804). I offer an original composition for solo acoustic guitar that I have carried with me over several decades and through several changes in living situation. I started working with the piece already back in the 1970s when I was living in Frankfurt/Main, Germany and kept developing it when I moved to Stockholm and from there to Gothenburg, Sweden. A first recording of the composition was made in a private studio just outside Gothenburg in 1987. I have only recently been able to transmit the piece to musical notation in preparation for publication. The piece has a relaxed nature and contains many repetitions of simple themes that are meant to evoke a sense of monotonous spaciousness. One musician who listened to the first recording said he thought it sounded minimalistic, which I thought was a good description, although at the time I was unaware that minimalism was a term used to describe a whole style of music. The piece has a rather meditative character in the first part, turning more rhythmic in the second part. The third part is a swing version of the first part and the piece ends with a return to the meditative straight first part. The piece is meant to be primitive in the sense of primordial and goes in something resembling a pentatonic scale based on A. The rhythmic second part should be played so that the guitar starts to hum an A tone, the humming carrying over into and through the more melodic sections. The composition has an organic development with slight variations in the basic themes as the piece progresses.Depending on the mood of the interpreting performer, the repetitions might be played in a different order or a different number of times. I seldom play the composition exactly the same every time myself. The piece has also worked as a basis for jam sessions with accompaniment of drums and a base, although the guitar had to have some sort of amplification. The piece can be played on either steel string or nylon string acoustic guitars, or electric guitars. I chose the title Big Drum because of the recurring base A that is a dominant feature of the piece, reminding me of the big drums played by people all over the world. The piece has a participatory character, especially in the more rhythmic and swing parts, inviting the listeners to clap, stamp their feet, or drum on whatever is available,As the notation is accompanied by tablature, I refrain from giving left hand fingering. The right hand fingering consists basically of base notes played by the thumb and treble notes played by alternating index and middle fingers in combination with the ring finger.

SATB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8208-E Composed by Anthony Antolini and Dimitri S. Bortniansky. Arranged by Anthony Antolini. Advanced/Collegiate. Church Anniversary, Confirmation, Memorial, Classical. Instrument part. 10 pages. Duration 4 minutes, 15 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8208-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8208-E). French, Russian. The Russian version, Kol' slaven, sets the poetry of M. M. Kheraskov (1733–1807), a Mason. The hymn was first associated with Freemasonry in Russia, but its popularity quickly grew. It became an unofficial national anthem until it was superseded by Lvov's “God save the Tsar.†Except during the Soviet period (1917–1991), Kol' slaven has been used in Russia at public gatherings and military ceremonies such as the christening of ships, lowering or raising of the flag, and at military funerals. Kol' slaven also became popular among émigré Russians and has been associated with Russian emigration in many countries. The singing of hymns with multiple verses in chorale style is not a part of Russian Orthodox worship. For this reason, Bortniansky's hymn is not considered liturgical in the Russian Church but is used mostly for secular ceremonies. The language of the hymn is Russian (although with several archaic words and word endings) rather than the language of Russian Orthodox worship, Church Slavonic. In Germany, the hymn is used not only in worship but also for military ceremonies and is occasionally sung as a prelude to the German national anthem. This scholarly performance edition includes extensive notes concerning the history of Bortniansky and this piece, performance notes, the editorial method of the English singing version, and a pronunciation guide for the Russian transliteration.Duration: 4:15.
