SKU: A0.794051

Composed by Gus Kahn, Harry Akst, and Richard A. Whiting. Arranged by Dave Gingras, John E. Dosher. Contemporary. Score. 2 pages. DAVID LEE GINGRAS #5739181. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.794051).

Guilty is a popular song published in 1931. The music was written by Richard A. Whiting and Harry Akst. The lyrics were written by Gus Kahn. Popular recordings in 1931 were by Ruth Etting, Wayne King and by Russ Columbo. The song was later popularized by Margaret Whiting and by Johnny Desmond in 1946. This is a contemporary version developed from a lead sheet incorporating a root-based chord-blocking technique that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. It also includes some interesting left-hand rythm patterns not found in other arrangments of this song.
John and I hope you like it!

Composed by Frank Loesser. Arranged by James Pybus. Christmas,Holiday,Pop,Standards. 9 pages. James Pybus #752026. Published by James Pybus (A0.1151823).

What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? is a popular song written in 1947 by Frank Loesser as an independent song. It was first recorded by Margaret Whiting in 1947 and first charted for The Orioles, peaking at No. 9 on Billboard's Best-Selling Retail Rhythm & Blues chart in December 1949. Although it is typically performed in December, that was not the composer's intent. In A Most Remarkable Fella: Frank Loesser and the Guys and Dolls in His Life, his daughter Susan Loesser explains that the singer, madly in love, is making a (possibly rash) commitment far into the future. (Maybe it's much too early in the game. Ah, but I thought I'd ask you just the same – What are you doing New Year's, New Year's Eve?) It always annoyed my father when the song was sung during the holidays. This SATB Saxophone Quartet arrangement begins with a quote from Dvorak's New World Symphony before proceeding into the rarely included verse of the song and ends with a quote from the popular song Auld Lang Syne written by Robert Burns, which is often heard on New Year's Eve. The saxophone quartet sound is sure to engage audiences in the spirit and sentiment of the song itself. The duration is 4:21. Contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.

By Dennis Lotis. By Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn. Arranged by Dave Gingras and John E. Dosher. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show. Score. 2 pages. DAVID LEE GINGRAS #901582. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.1312735).

I've Heard That Song Before is a 1942 American popular song about nostalgia with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Sammy Cahn. It was introduced by Martha O'Driscoll (dubbed by Margaret Whiting) in the 1942 film Youth on Parade. The song was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1942 but lost out to “White Christmas”. This version was developed from the original 1942 sheet music and features a root-based chord-blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added a few bits of left-hand rhythm to keep the music flowing! We hope you like what we did with this classic old tune!

SKU: A0.1391832

Composed by George Gershwin. Arranged by Anastasio Rossi. Broadway,Musical/Show,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Anastasio Rossi #975233. Published by Anastasio Rossi (A0.1391832).

“Someone to Watch Over Me” is one of the Gershwins’ most iconic songs, written by Ira for his wife Leonore in commemoration of their marriage on September 14, 1926. The song made its Broadway debut in the hit musical Oh, Kay! (1926). The musical featured Victor Moore as Jimmy and Gertrude Lawrence as Kay. Even though the show as a whole was wildly popular, Gertrude Lawrence’s rendition of “Someone to Watch Over Me” was the show’s big hit.

Someone to Watch Over Me was written by George Gershwin initially as a fast and jazzy up-tempo rhythm tune – marked scherzando (playful) in the sheet music – but in the 1930s and 1940s it was recorded by singers in a slower ballad form, which became the standard. The definitive slow torch song version was first released by Lee Wiley in 1939, followed by Margaret Whiting in 1944.

This arrangement as a Piano Solo, Is in the slower ballad tempo. Where the embellishments are intricate, suggested fingerings are included in the score.
