Instrumental Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818281 By Stephen R Dalrymple. By Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Edited by Stephen R Dalrymple. Romantic Period. Individual part. 18 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #4966281. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818281). Élegié in E Flat Minor for solo piano (Classical Music for Tablet Series) ♫ by Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff (Opus 3.1) ♫ Rachmaninoff (born in 1873) , Russian composer, virtuoso pianist, and conductor, was considered one of the finest pianists of his day. His compositions belong to the Romantic period of music history. He graduated at the Moscow Conservatory in 1892. After the premiere of his First Symphony in 1897, the negative reaction by an important critic sent him into a tailspin of depression that lasted several years. ♫ In 1909 he performed a series of 26 performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the USA. In 1914 he travelled to England for a concert tour. ♫ In February 1917 on the day the Socialist Revolution began in St Petersburg, he performed a benefit piano recital in Moscow for wounded Russian soldiers. When he returned home, he found that a group of Social Revolutionary Party members had seized his property as their own communal property. He had invested most of his earnings on the estate, but left it behind. Rachmaninoff's concert performance in Yalta on 5 September 1917 was to be his last in Russia. The chaos and tension of the October Revolution was daunting. He composed with the noise of gunshots and rallies in the background. He received an invitation to perform 10 recitals across Scandinavia. He accepted the offer, using it as an excuse to obtain permits so he and his family could flee Russia. ♫ He returned to the USA in November 1918 and America became his home. When he became an American citizen in 1943, Sergei Rachmaninoff said: “This is the only place on earth where a human being is respected for what he is and what he does, and it does not matter who he is and where he came from.†He died in March 1943 from cancer at the age of 70. (condensed from Wikipedia - October 2022) ♫ Rachmaninoff’s Opus 3 contains 5 piano pieces. The first is the Élegié in E Flat Minor, the second is the Prelude in C# Minor (one of his most famous piano compositions). This opus was finished in 1892, when he was 19 years old. The Prelude in C# Minor is loud, explosive, and declarative; the Élegié in E Flat Minor is soft, fluid, and contemplative. ♫ Edited for 10 inch tablet by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ Sequenced by the Editor ♫ The Classical Music for Tablet Series offers piano masterworks by classical composers formatted to be read on 10 inch tablets. I use an Amazon Kindle with Mobile Sheets Pro and an Air Turn blue tooth foot pedal to practice and perform piano music. Similar products available to provide other tablets the same functionality. ♫ The pieces in this series have not been arranged, but most have been edited slightly, and have been formatted to fit screen size. For example, in the tablet versions, first and second endings are often removed and the repeated measures and endings written into the music so the performer can avoid having to go back to previous pages. These kinds of section repeats were invented to spare the composer’s time and the cost of extra paper and ink. But with a tablet the cost of paper and ink is irrelevant. ♫ Although there are a lot more page turns with a 10 inch screen compared with letter size pages, the readability of the music (due to the backlighting on the tablet) and the portability of the music (travelling with a small tablet instead of oversized books or portfolios of sheet music) easily makes up for the extra page turns. ♫ Your purchase provides one .pdf file that contains both the tablet edition and the letter size page (printable) version. There are several programs available online that will allow you to separate this .pdf file into 2 .pdf files to make it more useful.

Premiered on May 4, 1795 in London. The masterworks that Haydn created after 1790 were the symphonies he composed for his two visits to England. The last of the important works that Haydn composed in London, and his final contribution to the genre, is the Symphony No. 104 in D major; the composer carefully noted in English on the manuscript’s title page that this Symphony was the 12th which I have composed in England. The work has been known since the 19th century as the London Symphony' The movement begins with a genteel theme, but veers into turbulent emotional territory in its episodes. This movement’s strong expression has led some commentators to suggest that it was Haydn’s musical elegy to his departed friend and colleague, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who died in 1791. This arrangement was produced for the Tintwistle Band CD On The Edge Of the Moors

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.873041 Composed by Sally Whitwell. 20th Century,A Cappella,Contemporary. Octavo. 10 pages. Sally Whitwell #4765201. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.873041). My family were early adopters on Compact Disc technology. Whilst my school peers in the late 80s and early 90s were collecting tapes for their VHS video recorders, my family were collecting hi-fidelity CD recordings of classical masterworks. Three of these CDs stick in my mind; a period instrument performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons performed by Trevor Pinnock and The English Concert; a recording of the 1812 overture which boasted Real Cannons (and also warned listeners against setting the volume too high because it might damage the equipment!); and A feather on the breath of God, an album of works by Hildegard performed by Gothic Voices with soloist Emma Kirkby. Thus began my life long love affair with the life and works of Hildegard. I have been performing this particular Hildegard chant O Virtus Sapientiae in solo piano recitals since around 2014. Basically, I have been freely improvising on it, so it’s different each time. Some ideas formed during those improvisations which have really stuck in my brain. I’ve transferred some of these into this a cappella work.  In una via, quae habet vitam  (In one path, which gives life) O Strength of Wisdom Who circling circled, enclosing all Growing from the earth Soaring in the heights One life-giving path Of omnipresent light Laus tibi sit, sicut te decet O Sapientiae  (Praise to you, as is fitting,  O Wisdom)

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818290 By Stephen R Dalrymple. By Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Edited by Stephen R Dalrymple. Romantic Period. Score. 18 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #4985381. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818290). Song Without Words: Passion by Felix Mendelssohn for piano solo (Opus 38.5) (Classical Music for Tablet Series) ♫ Edited for 10 inch tablet by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Mendelssohn wrote a series of 49 lyrical compositions for piano solo between 1829 and 1845 within the structure of the art song form. These “Songs Without Words†spanned almost all his productive life as a composer (age 20-35 (2 years before his death.)) Mendelssohn discouraged his followers from attempting to find text to fit these pieces. He wanted the melodies to speak for themselves. Only a few of them were titled by Mendelssohn; most of the titles came from publishers of later editions. ♫ The Classical Music for Tablet Series offers piano masterworks by classical composers formatted to be read on 10 inch tablets. Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Piccolo - Digital Download SKU: A0.998575 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Michael Barrera. 20th Century. 67 pages. Michael Barrera #6114133. Published by Michael Barrera (A0.998575). Https://www.michaelbarreraflute.com/shop/p/first-suite-eb-flute Program Notes First Suite in E-flat by Gustav Holst is widely considered one of the masterworks of band literature and it is one of the earliest pieces written for wind ensemble. Completed in 1909, the suite did not premiere until 11 years later in 1920. Each of the three movements Chaconne, Intermezzo, and March is based on the same motif, seen at the beginning of each movement. The Chaconne begins with a ground bass stating the theme and follows with a set of 15 variations over it. The Intermezzo is brisk, making use of the agility of the winds. Last, the March is more lighthearted but then becomes more regal like a typical British march. Instrumentation 1 Piccolo 4 Flutes 1 Alto Flute 1 Bass Flute Parts may be doubled with more players as desired.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553712 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century. 24 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3540881. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553712). The First Suite in E♭ for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 1, by the British composer Gustav Holst is considered one of the cornerstone masterworks in the concert band repertoire. Officially premiered in 1920 at the Royal Military School of Music, the manuscript was originally completed in 1909. Along with the subsequent Second Suite in F for Military Band, written in 1911 and premiered in 1922, the First Suite was the catalysing force that convinced many other prominent composers that serious music could be written specifically for the combination of woodwinds, percussion and brass.  Works such as the English Folk Song Suite (1923) of Ralph Vaughan Williams and the William Byrd Suite (1923) of Gordon Jacob are leading examples. This is my arrangement of the second movement Intermezzo It is arranged for wind dectet/double wind quintet and bass.
