It seems like Beethoven wrote this piece before becoming troubled by deafness. Published in 1799, it consequently remains one of the most celebrated pieces Beethoven ever wrote. As a result of its popularity, the movement was therefore performed by Karl Haas. Hass recorded it for a popular radio show called: Adventures in Good Music. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. Above all, he was probably one of the greatest composers in history. As a result, he is a pivotal character in the progress between the Classical and Romantic periods. He is certainly one of the most famous and hence important of all composers. Seems like his most familiar and noteworthy works include symphonies 1-9; piano concertos 1-5; and furthermore, the violin concerto. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. That’s when he consequently grew a reputation as a brilliant pianist. Furthermore, he probably stayed in Vienna for the rest of his life. In his late 20s, it seems like his hearing certainly began to decline. It slowly declined until consequently, he was nearly totally deaf probably by the last decade of his life. As a result, he stopped conducting and performing. Nevertheless, he continued to compose. As a result, some of his greatest works probably come from this period. First Period Seems like we often divide Beethoven’s life into three periods. Period 1 begins with Beethoven’s arrival in Vienna. Hence, during this period, he mastered the Viennese style of Haydn & Mozart. He consequently began increasing the size and scale of his works. Furthermore, he experimented with extreme dynamics, and likewise extreme tempi. He worked similarly with chromatic harmony. His First and Second Symphonies, therefore, belong to this period. Other important works also belong here: the first six string quartets and the Sonata Pathétique, Op. 13. Second Period His second period probably began as soon as he realized that he was going deaf. During this period, it seems like he became obsessed with the idea of heroism. His works consequently become even larger and more massive. The most noteworthy of these include the symphonies 3 – 8, piano concertos 5& 6, 5 string quartets, several important piano sonatas (Waldstein and Appassionata), the Kreutzer violin sonata, the violin concerto and his only opera: Fidelio. Third Period In contrast, Beethoven's third period is branded above all by works of incredible intellectual depth, formal innovation, and penetrating expression. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony, he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. Even more, other works from this period include his Missa solemnis, the final 5 string quartets (including the enormous Große Fuge) and the final five sonatas for piano.     www.jamesguthrie.com.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.921655 By Maroon 5. By Adam Levine, Jacob Hindlin, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Jon Bellion, Michael Pollack, Stefan Johnson, and Vincent Ford. Arranged by Tommy Dwight. Pop,Rock. Score. 9 pages. Tom Dwight #5289889. Published by Tom Dwight (A0.921655). This arrangement of Memories by Maroon 5 is for the early beginner piano student. After teaching piano for many years, I've found that students want to play popular songs they like (and why not?!). However, the 'easy piano' music that is available to them is, in fact, usually beyond their capabilities - particularly in the first year or two of lessons. These arrangements are my attempt to remedy that. I will continue to add more titles soon! If you have a suggestion of a title, please let me know! This piece can be played as a solo or with the optional accompaniment part. The piece uses only quarter, half, dotted half and whole notes. The student also keeps their hands in 'Middle C' position (RH/LH first fingers share Middle C). With two exceptions where the RH fifth finger reaches to the A above Middle C, the fingers remain in position. The arrangement is written in 4/4 so that it's easy for the student to count while learning it. However, once they have mastered it, counting in a slower 2/2 may be helpful - it's up to you.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553055 Composed by Scott Camp. Concert,Instructional,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Scott Camp #3142419. Published by Scott Camp (A0.553055). If you like Lady Allyson's Minuet from Robert Vandall's remarkable Book One of Celebrated Solos, I hope you will enjoy teaching and playing this piece. Mr. Vandall's love for his own students is manifest in his recognition that new pieces needed to be created for contemporary students.  His students, like most others, were starved for something new and fresh.  Mr. Vandall's compositions were a gift to them, and also to us!My compositions for Elementary and Intermediate piano students build on the ideas of composers including Robert Vandall, Catherine Rollin, Martha Mier, Dennis Alexander, E. L. Lancaster, and others.  My unique presentation continues the spirit of Robert Vandall in an important way:  not only are the sounds new for today's students, the means of communcation has also been updated to meet the needs of today's students.  Having all of the fundamental technique on the page in terms understandable to elementary piano students enables students to spend more time playing music rather than figuring out how to play music.I know full well the consequences of this approach:  weaker reading in the short term, which is more than compensated for by correct (and more advanced) technique and ability to play more, and more interesting, music.  The approach I have chosen restores playing music on the piano as the primary focus of the piano student/teacher relationship.  Learning to read music is an important secondary goal, and will, in my experience, stand a better chance of being mastered by students who have played a greater ranger of the compelling music that is available today.(PS I started putting in all the finger numbers and hand positions for elementary students because I couldn't stand hearing and seeing the incorrect technical solutions these wonderful children came up with on their own.  They deserved better.)

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1266458 Composed by Jerry Goldsmith. Arranged by Jim Winslett. 20th Century,Film/TV. Score. 4 pages. Jim Winslett #859187. Published by Jim Winslett (A0.1266458). Jerry Goldsmith's end title for Poltergeist, in that setting, is haunting and creepy. In this setting for four octaves of handbells or handbells + handchimes, it becomes a beautiful lullaby with a soaring melody and rich harmonies. Playing the diamond-shaped notes on handchimes gives added texture and interest. Relatively simple rhythms make this arrangement easily accessible to a bell choir accustomed to playing Level 3 music and can even be mastered by a good Level 2 choir. Suitable for concerts and other secular performances.
