Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.856235

By Matt Monro. By David Geoffrey Matthews, David Matthews, and Tim Harris. Arranged by Liz Garnett. Contemporary. Octavo. 9 pages. Liz Garnett #4885999. Published by Liz Garnett (A0.856235).

This song from 1970 is a kindly, though rather tongue-in-cheek, view of the emergent wave of feminism, and in its story-telling paints a picture of a moment in history in the incidental details of milk deliveries office work as much as in the main incidents of its narrative. The chorus transcends this moment in its cheerfully uplifting appeal to a brighter, more optimistic future.

The arrangement was commissioned to celebrate a moment in the life of a women's chorus, and is crafted to make sure all singers get to participate in relaying the narrative.

N.B. This arrangement is notated in treble and bass alta (i.e. sung an octave higher than written) clefs.

Vocal Ranges:

Tenor: E flat 4 - E5

Lead: A3 - C#5

Baritone: A3 - B4

Bass: D3 - G#4

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Pop,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. RayThompsonMusic #863596. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1271201).

Arranged standard wind quintet

Yesterday is a song by English rock band the Beatles written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon–McCartney) first released on the album Help! in the United Kingdom in August 1965.

Yesterday, with the B-side Act Naturally, was released as a single in the United States in September 1965. While it topped the American chart in October the song also hit the British top 10 in a cover version by Matt Monro.

The song also appeared on the UK EP Yesterday in March 1966 and the Beatles' US album Yesterday and Today released in June 1966.

McCartney's vocal and acoustic guitar, together with a string quartet, essentially made for the first solo performance of the band. It remains popular today with more than 2,200 cover versions and is one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded music.

My arrangement differs from others you may find.
Rather than giving the tune to one player, I have given it in turn to oboe, horn, flute and tutti.
The flute enters after the 1st verse.
The accompaning parts are not simply block chords, but are varied and full of interest to each player.

The chorus section is treat as a chorale, with all the players playing.

This is the wind quintet version you need!

SKU: A0.1421911

By Elvis Presley. By Antonio DeVita, Giorgio Calabrese, and Harold David Shaper. Arranged by Rick Windley. 20th Century,Pop,Standards. 7 pages. RockWind Music, LLC #1003245. Published by RockWind Music, LLC (A0.1421911).

An arrangement of the popular song, 'Softly As I Leave You', for brass quintet. It originated in 1960 in Italy and was called, 'Piano' (Italian for soft). Harold David Shaper discovered the song and added English lyrics in 1961. This song has been recorded by the British singer Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Michael Bublé and many others.

After an introduction, the piece starts softly with the French Horn stating the melody with Trombone and Tuba accompanying. The two Trumpets join in and the whole ensemble builds gradually to a forte. The piece diminishes in volume and ends softly as it began. Your ensemble and your audiences will enjoy traveling back in time with this pop classic.

This arrangement is available for purchase at SheetMusicDirect.com and SheetMusicPlus.com.  See the link for the youtube video and sound for a more complete examination.
