Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1392483 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Steven Paxton. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical. 32 pages. Creative Spirit #976004. Published by Creative Spirit (A0.1392483). Transcription for woodwind quintet of the work originally composed by Erik Satie in 1914 for solo piano. By this time in his career Satie was filling his scores with non-standard performance instructions, satiric barbs and modernist prose, scattered about on a carefully, expertly fashioned musical structure of experimental harmonies, strangely static rhythms, and radically miniaturized forms. In the case of Les Trois Valses Distinguées du Précieux Dégoûté, Maurice Ravel was undoubtedly the target of Satie’s satire. Ravel was the Précieux Dégoûté (a revolting or jaded dandy, a fop), and Satie’s Trois Valses subtly derided Ravel’s popular Valses nobles et sentimentales, composed four years earlier. (Another set, Avant-Dernièrniers Penseés, is also published by Creative Spirit in a transcription for woodwind quintet.)TOTAL DURATION: about 3–1/2 minutes.

2 Pianos,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.800639 Composed by Maurice Ravel. Arranged by Richard Simm. 20th Century. Score. 29 pages. Richard Simm #6719265. Published by Richard Simm (A0.800639). This awesome depiction of a boat on a vast ocean was originally scored, like the composer's Alborada del Gracioso, for solo piano, and is also fearsomely difficult. Ravel later orchestrated both works, and his amazing gifts in this field give us extremely valuable insight into his imaginative conception of this watery scenario. Richard Simm was inspired by the magnificent orchestration to build upon it by arranging it for two pianos instead of one - a combination which Ravel himself often enjoyed using.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.740199 Composed by Maurice Ravel. Arranged by Craig Garner and Craig Garner. 20th Century. Score and parts. 23 pages. Dorm 40 Music #2913983. Published by Dorm 40 Music (A0.740199). This arrangement is part of the Chicago Gargoyle Brass and Organ Ensemble Signature Series.Ravel wrote the Pavane when he was just 24, but it already had the unmistakable sound of impressionism, which would become his musical style. Ravel's gift for exquisite melody and colorful harmony is on full display. The Pavane quickly became very popular, and it remains popular even today. This is a beautiful addition to the brass and organ literature. Très beau! This arrangement comes with alternate C and D parts for trumpet 1, and an alternate C part for trumpet 2. Performance time, 5:30. Published by Dorm 40 Music, www.dorm40music.com

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1417808 Composed by Maurice Ravel. Arranged by Thomas Ling. 20th Century,Instructional. Score. 5 pages. Thomas Swee Chin #999349. Published by Thomas Swee Chin (A0.1417808). The rearrangement of notes will prove to be easier to play musically though it may not be easier to read. The original arrangement of the notes are provided for comparison.  This piece was written for the sight reading test at the piano competition at the Paris Conservatory in 1913. The harmony is definitely of the 20th Century with flexible rhythm and a unmistakenly with a Ravel sound albeit a simple piece comparatively. It will serve as a good introductory lesson to Ravel's style.Bonus piece is by yours truly.
