Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.827144 Composed by Bob Marshall. Jazz,Latin. Score and parts. 75 pages. Bob Marshall #2920511. Published by Bob Marshall (A0.827144). Transport your audience back to the psychedelic, hippiest Age of Aquarius with this Jazz Band original by Bob Marshall. Reminiscent of Woody Herman's The Herd, Don Ellis Big Band, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Band and others, Marshall perfectly captures the style and drive of those bands in that era with The Dream Maker. After a rhythmic, full ensemble intro, the piece settles into a fluid melody featuring Flugelhorn (a la Chuck Mangione). The melody restates with a soli of 2 trumpets and 2 trombones before going into a driving soprano sax lead section soli. But wait, it's not over yet: the ensemble breaks down to just the rhythm section in unison. Adding sections one at a time the chart continues to build to a roaring climax before a D.S. that features a wailing tenor sax solo. Restating the melody once more and a big outro The Dream Maker ends the journey and all is well! Written for a standard 17-piece jazz ensemble: 5 saxes (Tenor 1 doubling Soprano Sax), 4 trumpets (2nd doubling Flugelhorn), 4 trombones, guitar (acoustic), electric bass, piano, drums. Key of Ab.

2(2.pic).2.2.1.cbsn-2.2.0.0-timp-hp.cel-str violin and orchestra - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q42526 Fur Violine und Orchester. Composed by Ryan Wigglesworth. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 16 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q42526. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q42526). My Violin Concerto is scored for a Classical-sized orchestra, with the addition of a harp and celeste, and lasts around 17 minutes. Although the work sets out to explore the lyrical characteristics of the solo instrument, it is only gradually that the violin finds its full, lyric voice, and thence, as the work progresses, a more dominant role. This, in one sense, is the ‘journey’ of the piece. The work’s straightforward formal scheme consists of three movements (roughly fast–slow–fast) framed by a reflective introduction and epilogue. However, these formal divisions exist within a single, unbroken arc. Such an overall symmetrical shape places the slow Arioso (itself divided into three subsections) at the midpoint, sandwiched between the two Allegro movements. The dramaturgy of the piece centres on a twofold search. First there is the ongoing pursuit to ‘recapture’ the simple melodic material stated by the solo violin – accompanied by the harp’s bass register – during the opening bars. Whilst aspects of this melody are invoked frequently throughout (especially in the violin cadenza which closes the Arioso movement), it is only with the final and most important climax of the work that the melody appears again in its complete form, now accompanied by violent, orchestral stabs. The second search is for a tonal resting place, the arrival of which is delayed until the close of the epilogue. The original version of the Violin Concerto, commissioned by the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, was premiered in Amsterdam in February 2012 with Gordan Nikolic as soloist. The present, revised version was created for Barnabás Kelemen and the Hallé. The piece is dedicated, with admiration, to my friend Oliver Knussen. (Ryan Wigglesworth).

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.778226 Composed by John McAllister. Contemporary,Folk,Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 52 pages. John McAllister #6665567. Published by John McAllister (A0.778226). Pitt Street Bridge was commissioned by the Moultrie Middle School Band to be premiered at the 2020 SCMEA Conference. The remains of the Pitt Street Bridge lie in the Intercoastal Waterway and in what is now called Pickett Bridge Recreation Area. It is within walking distance from the middle school, and it is an integral part of Mt. Pleasant’s history. Originally designed as a trolley bridge that connected Sullivan’s Island and Mount Pleasant, Pitt Street Bridge is now a haven for recreation and relaxation. The lively melodies throughout the piece depict the festive activities that take place on Pitt Street Bridge. The piece opens as though one is standing on the Pitt Street Bridge, gazing out at the immensely beautiful surroundings. Slow and serene as the sun blankets the harbor and the marsh. The bridge has a tremendous history, dating back to the revolutionary war, which is where the melody begins. Deconstructed from part of Sir Peter Parker, a song about the Battle of Sullivan’s Island. A distant memory, this melody will find itself in many ways throughout (three notes rising diatonically followed by a falling 3rd). The woodwinds pattern in the opening (which also appears throughout), represents the ripples in the water, flowing gently back and forth. The military past of the bridge is hinted at in two ways. The snare in the opening, reminiscent of the rudimental style and several harmonies throughout that hint at an Americana style. As the piece picks up tempo, the hustle and bustle of 1920s Charleston comes to life. Harmonically, everything is still built off of the foundation of the original tune, but now we’re in bright and joyous times and people are transported to and from the island in the Roarin’ 20s. The optimism abounds until the climax of the piece as the bridge (musically speaking), fades into the past. At the finale, one is standing on the bridge with the distant melody still played on the flute.

Diogo Martins #867334. Published by Diogo Martins (A0.1281289). Golden Hour is a captivating musical masterpiece composed by Jvke (Jake Lawson) and arranged for tenor saxophone solo and concert band. This enchanting composition takes its inspiration from the magical moments that occur during the twilight of a sunlit day. As the sun begins to set, casting its warm, golden glow across the landscape, a sense of tranquility and introspection permeates the air. The piece opens with a gentle and lyrical marimba and vibraphone duo playing the iconic melody of the piano that Jvke played. The concert band, in turn, weaves a tapestry of harmonies and textures that complement the soloist's performance. The lush instrumentation adds depth and color to the overall experience, accentuating the serene ambiance of the Golden Hour. Soft woodwind harmonies, shimmering brass chords, and delicate percussion accompaniment provide a seamless backdrop for the saxophone solo, creating a harmonious balance between the soloist and the ensemble. As the piece progresses, the music gradually builds in intensity, representing the gradual transition from twilight to dusk. The interplay between the soloist and the ensemble intensifies, symbolizing the beauty and complexities of life's fleeting moments. In the climax, the saxophone's soaring melodies soar over the powerful ensemble, culminating in a breathtaking and emotionally charged finale. Secular, 21st century. 21 pages. Duration 6 minutes, 30 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3468-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3468-E). UPC: 600313134685.Love, thricewise was the winner of the 2009 Pacific Chorale Young Composers Competition. It was premiered in February 2010 under the baton of Robert Istad by the John Alexander Singers. The first movement, Liquor and lacquer, sets Witter Bynner's Opus 6 and depicts infatuation through flighty changes of meter and sudden shifts of mode. The second, entitled An amethyst remembrance and based on a poem by Emily Dickinson, is built around a false cadence on the words 'T will keep. It is regretful, slowly building to an anguished climax and wistfully fading away. Finally, Kinsfolk takes Sidney Lanier's A Song of Love as its text. It is both a lighthearted reflection on the paradoxical and complementary relationship between love and pain, and a pining for love. The first two stanzas of Kinsfolk pit the tenors and basses, who deliver the first stanza’s melody, against the sopranos and altos, who answer in the second stanza with the same melody in a key a tritone away from that of the first. The third stanza is a fugato on the same melody, culminating in a fervid fortissimo. Duration approx. 6:30.

Large Ensemble Bass Drum,Drums,Marimba,Multi-Percussion,Snare Drum,Vibraphone,Xylophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.935386 Composed by Dan Heslink. Contemporary. Score and parts. 46 pages. Pharaoh Publications #6058011. Published by Pharaoh Publications (A0.935386). Sinfonietta                                                                                                                  composed by Dan Heslink Sinfonietta is a trio for vibraphone, marimba and percussion (xylophone, snare drum, and bass drum). Its expression is intended to be non-representational, presenting only an interesting technical construction in a suave formal organization. With the title the composer designates a single movement, with length and seriousness of expression approaching a symphonic movement. Its form approximates an expanded version of the classical sonata-allegro, dividing materials into three large sections. Beginning are the two main phrases of the principal theme, which establish patterns that are idiomatic throughout the movement. The first measure’s quartal harmonies divide into rhythms alternating the two hands, the right-hand posing a melody and the left-hand complementing it with harmony and rhythmic repetition. The phrase at measure 7 is a long-breathed melody for vibes accompanied by undulating chords in the marimba. A transition comprising highly qualitative rhythms (stated first by the marimba in m. 20.) has much identity. By measure 41, the transition has grown into a full secondary theme, one that is developed and repeated often throughout the movement. The exposition closes with a theme beginning in measure 51. It is announced by the vibes as another long-breathed melody unfolding over the active rhythm of the second theme. After a gradual dissipation, the development section starts at measure 92 with a new but related theme, heard first in the vibes. It offers a different key and an expressive melody slowly unfolding over rhythmically active harmonies. The remainder of this middle section explores nuances of the secondary and closing themes, and ultimately leads to the movement’s first climax. It eventually dissipates through a gradual reduction of density and tempo.  The Reprise begins vigorously at m. 118 with statements of both the principal theme’s phrases. Then the second theme is transformed by the addition of bass drum strokes, which sets up a codetta. This section comprises a long crescendo on the new theme over a rhythmic tattoo derived from the second theme, and builds to a bold conclusion.  Pedaling on the vibes is indicated with a solid bracket below the connected notes, and half pedaling with a dashed bracket. It is imperative that the percussion part be heard but not dominate. The performer is encouraged to experiment with a piccolo snare drum and 28 bass drum. Sinfonietta would serve equally well in a professional, college or advanced high school percussion recital. The composer assigns a difficulty level of medium difficult. Duration is 8:10. The composer, Dan Heslink, can be contacted at dan@dheslink.com.

Concert band - Grade 4 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBW195-S Composed by Samuel Livingston. Score. 25 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CBW195-S. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBW195-S). 9 x 12 in inches.Silvertube Variations is a set of variations for concert band with flute solo. (The title refers to the solo flute.) The music is consistently melodic, with harmonies that are modal and consonant. The piece begins with a simple, folk-like theme, played by the solo flute, alone. The theme is then repeated in the full band, with a chord progression that is not as simple as the tune seems to imply. The piece continues with several variations on that chord progression. Some variations feature the soloist, some feature specific sections of the band, and some use all the resources of the full band. Some variations are brisk and playful; some are quiet and tranquil; some are expansive and forceful. In the final variation, the full band builds toward a climax, and then, just before the final chord, stops abruptly. After a moment of silence, the solo flute, again playing alone, reprises the theme, and a quiet two-bar coda in the woodwinds and horns ends the piece.

Adrian Varela #797934. Published by Adrian Varela (A0.1198846). 'Tango 41' is a tango double-fugue & groove incorporating motifs from the last movement of Mozart's symphony no.41 in C, 'Jupiter'. Mozart's work is famous for its rotating canon at the end. This tango goes one better: it is a tango fugue, and at the recap does a double fugue piling the tango theme and Mozart's on top of each other. The body of the track is a tango groove in the 'nuevo tango' style. The coda builds to a Mahler-evoking frightening climax, unwinding, and surprising to the nasty end. The middle section is a 'Gato', an Argentine folk-music which is, like much Latin American folk music, both in 6/8 and 3/4 simultaneously.'Tango 41' was originally composed as the first movement of 'Danzas Fantasticas', a 3-movement work for large orchestra and female voice.

Overture & Storybook Musical Arrangements #1073453. Published by Overture & Storybook Musical Arrangements (A0.1497036). 'The Storm' is an action-adventure score cue from The Little Mermaid (1989), in which Prince Eric's ship is caught in a storm at sea, and ends with Ariel rescuing Eric. This is the first action cue of it's kind from Alan Menken's extensive repertoire of Disney animated film scores. 'The Storm' makes extensive use of the Prince Eric leitmotif, which is featured throughout the film in both major and minor keys. It opens with the melody from the 'Jig', and makes reference to 'Part of Your World' near the end of the cue. The melody from 'The Storm' also makes its reprise in the climax of the film. The Little Mermaid (1989) score garnered Alan Menken his first 2 Academy Awards (best original score and best original song), with many more Oscar winnings to follow. This arrangement for solo piano is a reduction of the full orchestra, and is suited for Intermediate+ pianists. Chords are marked throughout. It has fewer time signature changes than the recorded version - making it more natural to play as a solo on the piano.
