Throughout, the rhythm maintains a consistent patter, reminiscent of raindrops, interspersed with sporadic bass notes that mimic distant thunder. Short, arpeggiated figures add texture, evoking the rumbling of an approaching storm. Structurally, I employ a through-composed format, crafting a narrative arc that follows the ebb and flow of the storm's intensity. Central to this structure is a broken chord motif, initially presented as quavers and later evolving into semiquavers. As this motif transfers between hands, it symbolises the shifting dynamics of the storm, heightening the piece's dramatic tension and adding depth to its narrative.

The Floral Dance is a popular English song describing the annual Furry Dance in Helston, Cornwall.The music and lyric were written in 1911 by Kate Emily Barkley (Katie) Moss (1881-1947) who was a professional violinist, pianist and concert singer. She was brought up in London and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. The song tells the story of an incident that apparently actually happened to Moss herself on a visit to Helston during the springtime 'Furry Dance' celebrations and the song was reportedly written directly afterwards as she was going home on the train. The songbook cover states that the music was founded on an old Cornish air. Katie introduces the original Furry Dance tune in the piano part just as the singer is describing the sound of the band, with its cornet, clarinet and big trombone; fiddle, cello, big bass drum; bassoon, flute and euphonium. In 1978, Terry Wogan recorded a version which reached #21 in the same chart.[3] Wogan's version was accompanied by the Hanwell Band, and omitted the final verse containing the climax to the story. On Top of the Pops, Wogan sang it live to a backing track.[4] A version of the song was prominently featured near the beginning of the 1996 film, Brassed Off.In 2016, a campaign for Christmas Number One was launched for Terry Wogan's version of The Floral Dance after his death. As the tension builds and harmonies become more complex the piece escalates to its climax and comes to an abrupt end. After a slight pause, the calm settles in.  Judgement has been passed and the tenors transition us to the Píe Jésu section with Dóna éis réquiem, surrounded by the return of the melodic motif meant to appear as the angels delivering the assurances of God’s mercifulness.  The final phrase dóna éis réquiem, is sung with cross voicing found in the tenor and bass section representing the ascension to heaven as the harmonies settle into their final resting place.

The ominously drifting mood of the first movement is only briefly interrupted by the dreamy waltz of the second movement, followed up with an absolute forced march a finale that blasts through from start to finish with the highest energy possible. The virtuosity of the sonata lies not so much in the technically difficult figures, but in maintaining that high level of energy demanded by incessant rhythms and constant fortes throughout the entire piece that is 20 minutes of music.PDF includes piano score violin part.
