The gentle rocking nature of the melody is supported by the piano accompaniment throughout, and phrasing is suggested to encourage a legato performance with some rubato. The tempo can be a little slower or a little quicker than the sound file suggests. This arrangement is excellent repertoire for High School students working at home, and equally it would make an excellent prelude in any service of worship where Cesar Franck's music is admired.
