Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869295 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 149 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #431379. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869295). Instrumentation: 3222-4231-timp-2perc-hp-chorus-strings Program note:It has been a wonderful two years of thinking, learning and working on my Continental Harmony Project with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. It is a rare occasion that a composer in the 21st century would receive a commission to write a musical work of such scale: a 40-minute piece for symphony orchestra, 200-plus chorus and a ballet company.   At the Bangor Public Library I found some wonderful evocative 19th century texts for the chorus about the city of Bangor and its environs: the Penobscot River, Mt. Ktaadn, the logging industry, the native American culture, etc.   At times I felt overwhelmed, but most of the times I was exuberant and quite inspired by the music that came forth in the process.   The premiere is less than a month away, and I am looking forward to it. Susan Jonason, Executive Director of the Bangor Symphony, has made the occasion a very public one: a free concert on a Saturday evening! I hope the audience will go home humming the tunes from the work as they walk into the crisp, cool Bangor night.Formally the work is in five movements. The first, third and fifth movements are choral, and the two in between are orchestral.   In the premiere, the Robinson Ballet will dance in the orchestral movements.  The first movement is about the Penobscot River from winter to spring. The melting of the ice is a harbinger of things to come: warmer weather, for instance; but it has also contributed to a lot of flooding in the city of Bangor and its surroundings. The second movement is a waltz, a grand 19th century ballroom waltz for the ladies of the rich lumber barons. They come to the ball showing off their latest hats and gowns from London, Paris and Milan. The third movement is about the woods and the people who work in them. Thoreau’s text about Mt. Ktaadn is full of awesome thoughts about how nature is beautiful, yet unkind to man.   It is followed by a J.G. Whittier lyric entitled The Logger’s Boast. The original song had twenty stanzas to it. I whittled it down to five. I don’t know what the original song sounded like, so I made up my own version of a lumberjack’s drinking song. The fourth movement is a wild, drunken polka. After a long week of working in the woods the lumbermen come back to the city and spend all their earnings on booze, women and gambling. And they dance the night away …The last movement begins with a funeral march for Joe Attien, a native American who was Thoreau’s guide when he came up here in the 1900’s. The work ends with a rousing march, a centennial hymn to the city of Bangor.   God bless our city Bangor, now! On this its birthday morn …NB: The two ballet movements, II. La Valse and IV. Drunken Polka, are optional.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1504747 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Thomas Ling. Baroque,Classical,Instructional. Score. 11 pages. Thomas Swee Chin #1080174. Published by Thomas Swee Chin (A0.1504747). Capriccio on the Departure of a Beloved Brother, BWV 992 is an early keyboard work by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed in 1704 when Bach was still a teenager. It is considered one of his few programmatic compositions, telling a specific story through music. The piece was likely written to bid farewell to Bach’s brother, Johann Jacob, who was leaving to serve as an oboist in the military.Structure and Programmatic Elements:The Capriccio is divided into six short movements, each with a descriptive title, narrating the emotional journey of the departure:Arioso: Adagio – A friend tries to dissuade him from leavingA gentle, expressive movement representing a friend’s attempt to persuade Johann Jacob to stay.Andante – They picture the dangers that may befall himThis section evokes the imagined dangers and perils of travel, characterized by ominous, foreboding musical gestures.Adagissimo – A lament of the friendsA sorrowful, slow lament, capturing the grief and sadness of those bidding farewell to the brother.Aria di Postiglione – The postillion’s horn is heardThis movement imitates the sound of a post horn, as if signaling the brother’s imminent departure by coach, a common mode of travel in that period.Fuga all’imitazione della cornetta di postiglioneA lively fugue that continues the imitation of the post horn, showcasing Bach’s contrapuntal skills even at this young age.Aria – The friends’ farewellThe final movement brings the capriccio to a touching close as the friends say their last goodbye.Style and Significance:Musical Innovation: While Bach is typically known for abstract works, this early piece is unique for its use of vivid musical storytelling. Each movement serves a narrative function, making it one of the earliest examples of program music, where the music is designed to evoke specific images or emotions outside of purely musical ideas.Youthful Playfulness: The Capriccio reveals the young Bach’s ability to blend humor, drama, and emotion. It also shows his developing mastery of counterpoint, which would later define his mature works.Historical Context: Bach composed this piece at the beginning of his career, before his major positions in Weimar, Köthen, or Leipzig, making it an important insight into his early stylistic development. This capriccio is an expressive and inventive work that balances emotional depth with technical brilliance. It stands out as a unique, personal piece within Bach’s extensive oeuvre, reflecting both a sense of farewell and a joyful exploration of musical ideas.

Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1372693 By Alicia Domínguez Arcos Sonay. By Joan Manuel Serrat. Arranged by Alicia Domínguez Arcos. Film/TV,Multicultural,Pop,Praise & Worship,Singer/Songwriter,World. 30 pages. Alicia Dominguez #957004. Published by Alicia Dominguez (A0.1372693). In these 112 measures for the twinning of Istanbul-Algeciras I have wanted to incorporate concepts from both parties, with the respect that the composition of Don Joan Manuel Serrat deserves in which in 1970 he sang “Mare Nostrum†(Nostrum mare more correctly in Latin classic, being one of the popular anthems of Spain and therefore a cultural heritage. Therefore it can be used instrumentally or if required, there is a number in the score of which, although the guitar has a melody and one of the choral voices, with two guitars, or make two choral voices or join with your own melody, use both bowed string instruments and plucked strings, etc.Likewise, there are two voices, of which a single voice can use the phrasings of both one voice and the other, giving it its own personality. The tempo will be whatever the interpretation itself wants, much slower, without accelerating so much between the beginning and the moment of the song itself. I have incorporated some instruments into the arrangement as examples:Buzukibouzouki, like the sazturco and the Lebanese Buzuq, which belong to the same family of Buzuki instruments. And as percussion only percussion The Turkish Darbuka is a percussion musical instrument The Turkish Darbuka is a percussion musical instrument from Turkey. The Turkish Darbuka have a high range of low and high resonant tones that sound between the two registers; serious (Dum) and acute (Tek). The edge or lip allows for finger breaking techniques that are not possible in the Egyptian Darbuka. And the Tombak, also called Dombak Ozarb, is a chalice-shaped drum, traditionally built with a hollowed-out biker or walnut trunk covered with skin at one end. With the beginning and among the work itself I wanted to give place to the Bashraf (Turkish Pesrev and Persian Pishraw, which means Overture) and the Sama'i (Turkish Sam Semai) Instrumental genre that is used in the Turkish court and in Sufi music . They were introduced into the Arab world before the 19th century. And also give place in his forms to the Ottoman composer Ismail Hakkibei (1866-1927). Unite Serrat with Hakkibey with this Istanbul-Algeciras work.Although the Bashraf is always made up of four points, Khanat (Plural Dekhana) or Hanne in Turkish, which are always followed by a chorus (Taslim / Teslim), its structure being Khana 1+ Taslim, Khana 2, Khana 3+ Taslim, Khana 4 + Taslim. The fragments must be incorporated since the main base is the Mediterranean pop theme. For this reason, its original rhythm is the Defâhte (In Arabic, Faakhito Fahitah Turki. Being a 20/4 time signature subdivided into 5 sub-groups of 4/4 where the complete cycle coincides with the phrases of the theme. Without forgetting that in music Arabic with the oriental rhythm Lsaada Duyukde 8/8 making a cycle for each measure of 4/4, that is, cycles per phrase, if those written for Western reading in 4/4 with double durations and simplicity. Unit of time: quarter note , coincides in two phrases of 5 measures per staff for a better understanding of the form of the piece, also within a written Arabic version of the theme the unit of time is eighth note 8/8 in G, but it had to be incorporated into Mediterráneo and it is always It is more feasible to think of the human voice as being more limited than instrumentation such as flute, plucked leather instruments, and bowed string instruments.Instrumentation:FluteGuitar 1 (1st voice melody)Guitar 2 (2nd voice melody)Bass (accompaniment and chords)BuzukiSazDarbukaTombakVoice 1st2nd voiceSMATB Voices1st violin2nd violinViolaCellosDouble basses.

Concert Band (optional solo piano) - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: AQ.AMC-WB-003SCO Composed by Francis Johnson. Arranged by Kenneth Amis. Music of Black Composers and Artists. Conductor score. 40 pages. Amis Musical Circle - Digital #AMC-WB-003SCO. Published by Amis Musical Circle - Digital (AQ.AMC-WB-003SCO). 11 x 17 inches. The 1818 publication of Francis Johnson's A Collection of New Cotillions marks the first known publication of original music by a black composer in the United States. A prolific composer, instrumentalist, teacher and conductor, Johnson led a varied and successful career in an era in U.S. history that was not inviting to black professionals. His musical interests ranged from the contemporary works of Johann Strauss Jr. to traditional, popular dances. The cotillion is a French country dance that was popular in Europe and America in the 18th century. It was originally danced by four couples in square formation and was an important influence in the development of the square dance in the United States. Francis Johnson composed two sets of six piano accompaniments for this dance. The original 1818 publication even included movement instructions for the eight dancers. The short and charming melodies that he composed are a fitting example of popular dance music of the time. This transcription may be performed as a piano solo, with the piano as a non-solistic instrument within the ensemble or without piano at all. If it is to be a piano solo, the other instruments should not play the passages marked “opt. tacet (optional tacet). If the piano will not be treated soloistically, the conductor can have some or all of the “opt. tacet passages played at their discretion. When there is no piano involved in the performance ,all instrumentalists should ignore the “opt. tacet instruction and play everything.

Piano Accompaniment - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1401066 By Stacey Plays Hymns. By Stacey Plays Hymns. Arranged by Anastace. Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual. Accompaniment. Duration 120. Anastace #984267. Published by Anastace (A0.1401066). Here is the full backup track for When My Love to Christ Grows Weak, as heard on my YouTube channel with all the other classic, beautiful hymns from the Lent collection. The lyrics are from a traditional hymn but I've written new music for it in a minor key to match the sombre mood. This recording is a perfect accompaniment track for either a beautiful solo during a church service or for a congregation to sing along with, led by a singer who has heard the recording and knows the song. The mp3 has no lead singer but harmonies and a few descants in the background, particularly in the end, as they are really part of the music and will help to make it a really moving, powerful song at any church service. This rare hymn is wonderful for Ash Wednesday or any time during the Lenten Season or even Good Friday, contemplating Christ's betrayal by Peter and all who give in to sin. Although it is very solemn and touches on many points about repentance and Christ's suffering, it ends on an uplifting note and leads us on to stronger faith in Him.This song has a vocal range of Bb3-C5 and there is also sheet music in several keys available by searching Stacey Plays Hymns on this site. Please see Youtube video linked below for a demonstration of the entire piece.Purchase includes a free license for one church service with under 300 people, with proper attribution and credit in any printed or online materials. For a license to use this work on a larger scale, please contact me for permission and other usage details including lyrics formatted for printing in church bulletins or for powerpoint. Please let me know if there is any other way I can serve you as a congregation or fellow music/choir director as I endeavour to write several new choral anthems per year, along with my other recording work.Thank you for supporting modern hymnwriters and musicians!

This brilliant brass choir arrangement captures the excitement of the composer’s orchestral showpiece Danse Nègre from his African Suite, Op. 35. The five-minute arrangement is scored for four B-flat trumpets (1st trumpet doubles on piccolo B-flat; trumpets 3 and 4 double on flugelhorn), 4 horns, 3 trombones, euphonium and tuba with brass orchestration that mirrors the texture and excitement of Coleridge-Taylor's orchestral work to inspire performers and excite audiences.
