The construction of the sail consisted of a box the size of a loaf of bread (known as a CubeSat), metal booms, and four incredibly thin triangular Mylar sails. The vehicle was propelled by light from the Sun and in future projects; the sail would continue to gain momentum, ultimately accelerating to high speeds, allowing for travel along limitless distances. ​ Luminous Travels - The Journey of LightSail-A tells the account of this space-faring vessel in four major musical scenes. The first scene, UNFOLDING, features a lyrical melody first heard on the solo trombone then carried off by of the ensemble. The second scene, COMPUTING, depicts the inner-workings of the CubeSat. This new theme is rhythmic and aggressive, suggesting the hazards to come. The third scene, BLACKOUT, represents the communication blackouts that occurred during the flight that left the project in peril. This scene marks the cadenza of the work and depicts the lonely and frigid environment of space. Eventually, the unease is assuaged bringing hope back to the project. With a new sense of optimism, the final scene, ACCELERATING, represents the increase in speed that will occur in future solar sail space projects. The music from the earlier sections returns and changes, and as the music presses forward; the solo trombone rises into its highest register at breakneck speed as the solar sail crosses along infinite space. ​ The piece is dedicated to Keith Hunter, who has been a champion of my music and for whom Luminous Travels is dedicated. ​.

And though I thoroughly enjoyed its choral setting, I could not find the musical language that invited its instrumental conveyance. Then, on December 14th of 2012, while playing with my 8-year old daughter, I learned of the details surrounding Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. There I sat, listening as a commentator told of the some 600 children at the school and their parents, who waited outside in a despair I cannot begin to imagine, hoping that their child was not one of the victims. Little by little, the children were released into the arms of their waiting loved ones. But nothing could have prepared me for the emotions that arose when I learned that the parents and grandparents of 20 children learned of their loss when they did not return to them. There are nowords to describe what this picture conveyed in my mind in that moment. But musically, what you are about to perform is the result. I deeply thank Blake R. Henson and GIA Publications for the right to transcribe this work on their behalf.

A work for Symphony Orchestra which consists of three movements: Armonía Bilingüe, Marcha and Beat Box. This is a work were rhythm takes over to articulate a contemporary and empirical sound world. It is born of my admiration of popular culture and presents no pretensions. The title signifies a suspension, an absence or a liberation from the prejudice of dogmatic elitist musical thinking and styles that have stigmatized symphonic music. The first movement generates the source material of which the whole work is based. Rhythm , the principal element of the piece, is used as a continuo, serving to connect all three movements. It is especially highlighted in the second movement which is a kind of instrumental rap. The final movement Beat Box alludes to the large portable radios, aka ghetto blasters, popular at one time in urban neighborhoods. Thus I conceive the orchestra here as a large radio were music changes from one station to another transmitting and transforming wireless sound vibrations into different moods and grooves.

It is a set of four concerti for Violin, each of the four representing one of the four seasons. A performance of the entire original set would take at least 40 minutes. This version is a collection of the main themes presented as a short suite and takes approximately 5 minutes to perform. Alternatively, each of the movements may be performed as a separate piece. The aim of this arrangement was to give Early Intermediate Level Woodwind and/or Brass players an opportunity to perform what is undoubtedly one of the most well-known pieces of Baroque string repertoire. The instrumentation is flexible, allowing for many different combinations of instruments, including Clarinet Trio/ Ensemble, Saxophone Trio/Ensemble, Brass Trio/Ensemble and even Concert Band. The Solo at the start of the 4th Movement (Winter) is an opportunity to feature a Part 1 player who is more advanced. The inclusion of this short section is entirely optional. Part 4 is optional and can be used to include a Tuba and/or less competent players of Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone and F Horn. The inclusion of a Tuba is preferable in the case of a large brass ensemble. The inclusion of a Bass Clarinet (Part 3 or 4) is preferable in a large clarinet ensemble. The score is shown in concert pitch. Octave displacement occurs in some parts. Sonata in G Minor for Piano & Cello, Op. 65, Movement III - Largo.Chopin performed this Sonata on his final recital in 1848.The Largo from Chopin's Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 65 is a significant work as it is one of only nine compositions by Chopin published during his lifetime for instruments other than the piano. The Sonata is remarkable for the concentration of its material, with much of the music in the first movement growing out of the opening statement and specific thematic shapes appearing in all its movements. The Largo, in particular, is known for its expressive and lyrical nature, showcasing Chopin's ability to write beautifully for a non-piano instrument. The Sonata was first publicly performed by Chopin and the work's dedicatee, Auguste Franchomme, at the composer's last public concert in 1848. The historical context behind Chopin's Largo from Sonata Op. 65 is rooted in the composer's radical stylistic changes during 1845-1846, which included an increasing prevalence of contrapuntal textures and metric flexibility. The Sonata, including the Largo, is filled with doubts and hesitation, reflecting the composer's difficult decisions and arduous labors. The piece is also notable for its thematic references from Schubert's Winterreise, mirroring the circumstances of Chopin's life when he wrote the Sonata, particularly his separation from George Sand.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792552). Four Kuehn (Keen) Guys was written for David Kuehn (pronounced ‘keen’) the head of the Tuba department at the University of North Texas. Professor Kuehn asked the composer to write a challenging work for his class.... and he did! As a Tuba quartet, all parts run the gamut of range and difficulty. It is also very playable by four bass Trombones and in any combination of Tubas or bass Trombones thereof. The quartet is in A-B-A format beginning with a cute sounding march followed by a very beautiful lyrical section and concluding with a repeat of the march section. It is a very satisfying work to perform and to listen to. The work of about 4 minutes in length is appropriate for advanced performers.
