Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.787260 Composed by Greg Bartholomew. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Octavo. 8 pages. Burke & Bagley #49723. Published by Burke & Bagley (A0.787260). An Open World, When I Land and And the Wind are three settings for unaccompanied mixed choir (SATB) of poems from Fletcher LaVallee Bartholomew's collection entitled And the Wind: Gnostic Poems 1945 - 1979. And the Wind is duration ca. 4 minutes. Minneapolis native Fletcher Bartholomew spent most of his life in aviation, beginning with a childhood flight in a Curtis Robin in 1929. His work in aviation started with a job as an inspector in an aircraft factory. He went on to become a test pilot in World War II, serving at the South India Air Depot at Bangalore, India. He often spoke later of his experience on the ship to India and the people he met travelling around the subcontinent. He subsequently worked in aviation in Munich, Germany, and in Lima, Peru, before he concluded his career working in airport planning and management.  And the Wind:  There is an awesome beauty found in sailing Through black of night upon the open sea, Your vessel mauled by unseen waves and trailing Her phosphorescent wake, as steadily, She plows into the darkness, And the wind.

Saxophone Ensemble,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Bass Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1140852 By Oscar Peterson. By Harriette Hamilton and Oscar Peterson. Arranged by James Pybus. 20th Century,Blues,Jazz,Praise & Worship,Spiritual. 39 pages. James Pybus #741106. Published by James Pybus (A0.1140852). Recognized as one of Oscar Peterson’s most significant compositions, Hymn to Freedom was written in 1962 and was swiftly embraced by people over the world as the anthem of the Civil Rights Movement. The piece was Peterson’s first major work and was written with encouragement from his producer and dear friend Norman Granz. During those initial recording sessions, Granz urged Peterson to create a tune with a “definitive early-blues feelâ€. For inspiration, Peterson drew upon various church renderings of Negro spirituals recalled from his childhood in Montreal. He aimed to maintain the unadorned, yet poignant quality of these early Baptist hymns while composing the beginning chorus of Hymn to Freedom. Upon its completion, Peterson and Granz decided that lyrics would complement the music and contacted Malcolm Dodds, composer, arranger and choir director of The Malcolm Dodds Singers, a backup group for many popular artists of the day. Dodds turned to his collaborator Harriette Hamilton, who had been writing lyrics for the choir group’s original compositions for several years. According to Hamilton, “all the lyrics had to do was express in very simple language the hope for unity, peace, and dignity for mankind. It was easy to write.†With Peterson on piano, Ray Brown on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums, the trio recorded the piece on Night Train (Verve 1962), which became one of their most commercially successful albums. Critical acclaim moved Peterson to record Hymn to Freedom on several albums that followed. This arrangement is playable by SATB Saxophone Quartet with optional Bass Saxophone, String Bass and Drums. For performances by SATB Saxophone Quartet without rhythm, the part marked Baritone Saxophone 2 (substitute Bass Saxophone) should be used. Some improvising is allowed for in the soprano, alto and tenor parts. Optional written solos are provided. This arrangement will enhance a wide variety of concert programmes and performance situations. The duration is 4:45. Contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.

Choral Choir (3-Part) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.922040 Composed by Denny Glasscock and Greg Jenkins (drums). Christian,Latin,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 26 pages. Denny Glasscock #6045799. Published by Denny Glasscock (A0.922040). This is the choral SAB version of Why Not Come to Jesus Now, by Denny Glasscock. Also available is a nice instrumental performance/accompaniment digital recording of the song by a string trio (violin, viola and violoncello), accompanied by piano, drums and bass (rhythm trio). The violin, viola and violoncello duplicate the soprano, alto and baritone voices, respectively, of the SAB choral version of the song. Performed along with the rhythm trio, it aids the vocalists in hearing the melody vs. the counter melody at work. The duplications are not obvious, due to the complex back and forth exchanges of melody vs. counter melody, except when the effect is desired with the melody at the beginning of a new section, briefly. At these points, the new melody significantly contrasts the prior one. At the ending, the piece concludes with a layering of tones and a light stop. Click on the publisher's name, Denny Glasscock, above to find the instrumental ensemble (winds and strings) and solo versions of the song, where, also, the accompaniment version is offered.

The Serenade No. 10 for winds in B-flat major, K. 361/370a, is a serenade by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart scored for thirteen instruments: twelve winds and string bass. The piece was probably composed in 1781 or 1782 and is often known by the subtitle Gran Partita, though the title is a misspelling and not in Mozart's hand. It consists of seven movements. The serenade is in seven movements as follows:I. Largo. Molto AllegroII. MenuettoIII. AdagioIV. Menuetto. AllegrettoV. Romance. AdagioVI. Tema con variazioniVII. Finale. Molto AllegroThe work is scored for 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 basset horns, 2 bassoons, 4 horns and double bass. The double bass is occasionally replaced by contrabassoon; however, the part is clearly for the former as there are pizzicato markings at points.I have created 2 additional flute parts to cover a dectet group.(who have 2 additional clts playing with them. The horn 1/2 parts have the important 3/4 solos as cues. There are alternative parts provided (for those groups who haven't got the full instrumentation) as follows:Basset Horns 1/2: clarinets Bassoons1/2: Bass ClarinetsHorns 3/4 In Bb: Horns in F.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1251539 Composed by Arr. Michael Sweeney and Percy Aldridge Grainger. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Folk. 24 pages. RayThompsonMusic #845816. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1251539). Lincolnshire Posy is a musical composition by Percy Grainger for concert band commissioned in 1937 by the American Bandmasters Association. Considered by John Bird, the author of Grainger's biography, to be his masterpiece, the 16-minute-long work has six movements, each adapted from folk songs that Grainger had collected on a 1905–1906 trip to Lincolnshire, England. In a similar fashion to these folk songs, many of the movements are in strophic form. This is my arrangement of No.VI. The Lost Lady FoundArranged symphonic wind dectet (double wind quintet) and bassA lilting 3/4 melody in strophic form. As the tempo is too fast for the conductor to gesture each beat of every measure, the movement is typically conducted in 1 where each gesture given by the conductor indicates a full measure instead of each beat. Every section of the ensemble states the theme at some point in the movement. This movement is based on the ballad of the same name,in which a lady, who while living with her uncle in a village is kidnapped by three Roma. After being missing for a long time, the villagers begin to speculate that the uncle is responsible for her disappearance, later imprisoning him and condemning him to death. At some point, the lady was found in Dublin by a young squire who loved her and was subsequently brought back to the village. Upon return to the village, the villagers, mere moments away from executing the uncle at the gallows, realized their error and set the uncle free, celebrating the lady's return with church bells (which are emulated by the tubular bells in the closing of the movement), music, and frivolity. As this movement was not yet completed at the time of the work's premiere, it was omitted for the performance. For Info:Green Bushes is an English folk song  which is featured in the second movement of Vaughan Williams's English Folk Song Suite, in Percy Grainger's Green Bushes (Passacaglia on an English Folksong), and in George Butterworth's The Banks of Green Willow. The melody is very similar to that of the Lost Lady Found movement.

Cello and piano - Digital Download SKU: BQ.979-0-50179-179-8 Composed by Ferdinand Ries. Edited by Stephen Begley. This edition: softcover. Bisel Classics. Score. With Text Language: English / German. Opus 21. 58 pages. Published by Bisel Classics - Digital (BQ.979-0-50179-179-8). ISBN 9790501791798.A masterpiece for cello and piano, this sonata in a traditional four movement setting was dedicated to Ries' childhood cello tutor, the prominent virtuoso Bernhard Romberg. Remaining in the classical idiom, the work nevertheless exploits the dawning spirit of romanticism and recalls the bravura influence of Ries' other teacher Beethoven, with sublime accompaniment at the piano which occasionally erupts into the kind of explosive display which came to characterise Ries' style of playing.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1256304 By Michael Blostein. By Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Michael Blostein. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Romantic Period. Score and Parts. 28 pages. Michael D. Blostein #849775. Published by Michael D. Blostein (A0.1256304). Beethoven’s Six Ländler for Two Violins and Bass, WoO 15 – the basis for this work - constitute his second and final set of these forms of German dance, written as a commission for the annual dances at the Vienna Redoutensaal. Both sets were apparently intended for actual events of social dancing. This set likely date from early 1802, when Beethoven was working intensely on his second symphony. This arrangement for string orchestra requires shifting into 2nd position for the first violins in one section, and the viola (as well as 3rd violin if used) and 2nd violins are required to go into half position for two sections. Cellos need to extend. The requirements for the bass are minimal, but the bass players can play the cello part (with appropriate fingering and position alterations) and the piece works. The second violins do not need to shift, but some of the string crossing (shared with the first violins) can be a bit tricky. This piece works best at a faster tempo (in 1), but can work at a slower tempo (a fast 3).
