String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1406003 Composed by Lee Mendelson and Vince Guaraldi. Arranged by Donald Jay Smith. Contemporary,Film/TV,Holiday,Jazz,Pop. 9 pages. Donald Jay Smith Music #989052. Published by Donald Jay Smith Music (A0.1406003). I always adored this song from the Charley Brown series. While teaching at the high school level one year, I had an exceptional Cello section that had just dominated the November All-State auditions. I wanted to feature them in the next concert, but I couldn't find any appropriate holiday arrangements that featured Cello/Bass, or fit their ability level and something they really wanted to play in the available string ensemble repertoire. I suggested this among a few others, got to work on arranging and some of my students favorite arrangements resulted. Several pieces became requirements in the traditional Holiday Concert string ensemble preconcert.  Every year audience members arrived early to get good positions to see and hear the SKHS string ensemble greeting the audience as they entered the foyer leading to the theatre. The initial two arrangements that started the Cellobrate the Holidays set were Christmas Time is Here and You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch that are available now. Watch for others to be added soon. I sincerely hope you will enjoy these arrangements as much as my students did!! Cello and Bass players rule! Enjoy the spotlight!!

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976737 Composed by Manuel de Falla. Arranged by Robert Myers. 20th Century,Folk,World. Score and parts. 113 pages. WheatMyer Music #6621545. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976737). Andaluza, taken from Manuel de Falla’s piano suite Cuatro Piezas Españolas, is aimed at the mainstream high school band in the United States at the grade 4 level. Boisterous tuttis, intimate solos, and passionate melodies make for an engaging excursion into Spanish folk music that allows students to explore the adventurous harmonies of de Falla's impressionistic vocabulary. The variety of colors and energy in the modern concert band amplify the life, drama, and humanity de Falla poured into his piano version. Andaluza will thus prove a thrill for both performers and audience as it celebrates this life, drama, and humanity.Soprano Sax is called for on an expressive solo but is fully cued in oboe. The absence of this instrument need not prevent an integral performance of the music.Optional parts are provided for Eb Clarinet, Treble Clef Baritone, and Double Bass for those bands having these available.View a full preview score of Andaluza at my website (wheatmyermusic.com/product/andaluza) or drop an email and I'll provide a pdf of the score for your perusal.Andaluza is the fourth member of Manuel de Falla’s Cuatro Piezas Españolas for solo piano first published in 1909. My imagination runs wild contemplating what may be pictured in de Falla’s music. It certainly seems to be a civic gathering: perhaps a wedding, a baptism, a dedication, or a feast taking place in the civic square of perhaps on a hacienda. There are scenes that may be dancing, speeches, passionate sonnets, arguments, celebrations, all ending in a lingering mysterious question with a tinge of hopefulness. Whatever Falla may have have had in mind it is full of life, drama, and humanity.I first became aware of de Falla’s work, particularly Andaluza, in the summer of 2021 during an online orchestration seminar. Each of Cuatro Piezas’s movements expresses Spanish folk music idioms through an impressionistic lens reflecting Debussy’s influence on de Falla. Andaluza immediately struck me as music that would shine in the realm of the concert band. It was a joy to explore de Falla’s music, transforming the implications of the piano stylings into the nuances and colors available to the modern wind ensemble. It was just as much if not more challenging to develop this arrangement than creating my own original music typically proves to be. But it was so rewarding to have done so and I hope you find the rewards of listening just as much worth your effort.Robert MyersS.D.G.INSTRUMENTATION:PiccoloFlute 1, 2OboeBassoon 1,2Bb Clarinet 1, 2Bb Bass ClarinetBb Soprano SaxophoneEb Alto Saxophone 1, 2Bb Tenor SaxophoneEb Baritone SaxophoneBb Trumpet 1, 2, 3Horn in F 1, 2, 3, 4Trombone 1, 2Bass TromboneEuphonium TubaTimpani (4) Mallets: Xylophone, Glockenspiel, Vibraphone, MarimbaPercussion 1: Almglocken/Cowbell, Suspended Cymbal, Marimba, Snare Drum, Glockenspiel, Triangle, XylophonePercussion 2: Hand Cymbals, Suspended Cymbals, Snare Drum, Bongos, Mark TreePercussion 3: Tambourine, Castanets, Hand Cymbals, Rainstick, Gong, Tam, TamPercussion 4: Bass Drum, Suspended Cymbal, Gong, Tam Tam, WoodblocksOptional Parts: Eb Clarinet; Baritone T.C. 1, 2; Double Bass

Ghost Dances (Wounded Knee, 1890) for Brass BandOriginally Composed by Roland Barrett, Arranged by Benjamin LauInspired by the tragic story of the Lakota Sioux massacre at Wounded Knee in 1890, Roland Barrett's original work features a soft and peaceful entry, followed by aleatoric sections with musical fragments to convey the imagery of a Sioux ghost dance, and a menacing, ferocious section with high speed and intensity to keep the audience on their toes. This brilliant and inspiring work has been adapted for brass band by BenthovenMusic. This arrangement still captures the same peaceful and free opening along with the rhythmic intensity and drive of the original but with a reduced percussion section and more brass. This is an excellent work for high school/university bands that shows strong musical capability, technicality, and endurance of the player. Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1422149 By The Candlelight Guitarist feat. Frank Sanchez. By Bradley Powell. Arranged by Brad Powell. Classical,Country,Folk,Latin. Guitar Tab. 9 pages. Geofonica Artistworks #1003495. Published by Geofonica Artistworks (A0.1422149). This is the GUITAR PART (in standard notation with TAB) of the GUITAR and BASS DUET recording of Cool Cowboy Glen (tribute to Glen Campbell).  This guitar and bass duet features advanced-intermediate fingerstyle guitar playing, combining country, folk, popular, classical and Spanish styles. The guitar plays most of the melody in the first half, with the Bass playing fills, then bass takes over playing the melody in the second half and the guitar accompanies. Then guitar and bass trade off melody, before returning to guitar melody for the final section. It's got lively parts (like a hoedown), and smooth and beautiful parts. The BASS PART is available separately. The GUITAR PART in standard notation (without TAB) is also available separately.Glen Campbell (who inspired this piece) was played guitar on many popular hit songs as a member of The Wrecking Crew group of session musicians, incluing hits by The Beach Boys, The Monkees, Frank Sinatra, and many others. He became as singing star with several hit songs, including Gentle On My Mind, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Witchita Lineman, Galveston, Rhinestone Cowboy and Southern Nights. He co-starred with John Wayne inthe movie True Grit, also singing the hit title song.Brad Powell (The Candlelight Guitarist) and his bandmate friend Frank Sanchez (both 16 years old) were guests of Glen Campbell in a recording session at Capitol Records, in September 1971. This duet song and recording is their tribute to Glen Campbell.  Frank Sanchez was the original bass player for Weird Al Yankovic... Alfred called him Frank (from the bank) Sanchez.ABOUT the composer: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. Brad also played as the solo guitarist for Disney's Princess Breakfast Adventure at Disney's Grand Californian Resort by Disneyland (March 2019-January 2024), providing music for the Disney Princesses (Belle, Tiana, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Mulan, Aurora, Ariel, Pocahontas, Cinderella, and their friends and guests).

Harpsichord - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q11355 Composed by Hermann Schroeder. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 10 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q11355. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q11355). Hermann Schroeder (1904-1984) wrote his Sonatina da camera at the suggestion of Prof. Hugo Ruf who had been looking for attractive new music for his 'old' instrument and for his students at the Cologne Musikhochschule. This work is a little three-movement sonata which draws on both the Baroque harpsichord tradition and the classical sonata form (in the outer movements). These elements are combined very successfully with a modern tonal language; with humour and the joy of virtuoso playing getting their fair share too. It is to be hoped that Schroeder's single work for harpsichord (apart from his 'Duplum' for organ and harpsichord, Schott ED 6233) will be played by many performers and included in the rather small contemporary repertoire for harpsichord as a valuable addition.

Clarinet in Bb and piano - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q15285 From the Idyll At Twilight. Composed by Zdenek Fibich. Arranged by Wolfgang Birtel. This edition: Sheet music. Edition Schott - Single Edition. Downloadable. Op. 39. Schott Music - Digital #Q15285. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q15285). The reputation of the Bohemian composer Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) has always been somewhat overshadowed by that of Bedrich Smetana and Antonín Dvorák. This is a pity, for Fibich, though he died young, made an equally important contribution to the emerging Czech national styl with his wide range of compositions. After starting piano lessons with his mother as his first teacher, the boy went on to music school in Prague and then to the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he learned his craft as a composer. He spent a few months teaching piano in Paris and then continued his studies with Vinzenz Lachner in Mannheim. Prague was eventually to become the centre for Fibich's musical activities: as his dream of a post at the Conservatoire remained unfulfilled, his main employment was giving private music lessons and as a composer Zdenek Fibich wrote works for many musical genres: vocal and chamber music, piano pieces and orchestral works, operas, stage music and melodramas, literary recitals with orchestral accompaniment to which he gave a new lease of life. There are biographical traces to be found in the 376 piano pieces of the collection 'Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences' Op. 41, written in 1892-98: this tells of his love for his pupil Anezka Schulzová in the form of a 'piano diary'. Its four volumes were frequently a source of material for other works, such as the symphonic poem 'In the Evening' Op. 39 (also known as 'A Summer's Evening' and 'At Twilight'), written in 1893. For his second subject in this 'Idyll' Fibich used the minature no. 139, entitled 'Lento', from his collection of piano pieces. The violinst Jan Kubelík played the melody from 1908 onwards with the title 'Poème', and the work is still known today under this title: its easy charm has made it a favourite tune in the classical repertoire. This arrangement is based on the orchestral version from which other material was adapted for the Prelude.
