Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862479 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Jazz,Latin,Pop,Standards. Score. 3 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2009263. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862479). This cheerful and breezy lil' tune is designated as Intermediate because it has fewer large chords and a consistent rhythmic and melodic theme throughout. A typical bassline accompanies the motif as it winds its way through the basic progression of jazz, and Latin jazz, the IIm7- V7 -I Maj7 progression. The melody is harmonized in thirds throughout. Approx duration is just under 3 mins. at suggested tempo. Faster is fine if you are able and so inclined to play it that way! Pedal for smoothness and sustain, or play it dry for definition and a stronger rhythmic drive.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862578 Composed by Michael Bomier. 20th Century,Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 7 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #436295. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862578). 2015 Piano Contest This piece is based on an initial bassnote, followed by the slow arpeggiation of a chord in fourths. The combination of various types of perfect, and augmented 4ths gives the piece its shifting colours and sound. The Music for the Taking series was conceived to exploit various melodic and harmonic shapes at the keyboard. The rhythm gives each piece a different mood, but the unifying factor is the pianistic basis for each movement. Dur, around 5 mins. This is the easiest piece in the set, so, while, the grouping as a whole is advanced level material at tempo, this is the least problematic of the set. MP3 MIDI audio. MBB.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1027265 Composed by Michael Mccall. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 9 pages. Michael McCall #2022123. Published by Michael McCall (A0.1027265). The short piano introduction is meant to represent the approach of the Kings from a long distance. Measures 1 through 13 should be played as softly as possible, gradually increasing in volume from there until the voices begin. The text is a conversation between the Three Kings and the Star. The choice was made not to employ the use of soloists as each individual King and Star, but instead to keep the piece completely ensemble oriented. As a result, the composition relies on the ensemble to portray multiple unique voices.  Sections are marked accordingly and every effort should be made by singers and conductor to vary each respectively. .

Small Ensemble Horn,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971700 Composed by Horatio Spafford (lyric) and Phillip Bliss (music). Arranged by Michael E. Ropp. Christian,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 11 pages. Michael E. Ropp #2959209. Published by Michael E. Ropp (A0.971700). I have always loved this hymn, and one Sunday morning when I had been called upon to write something lyric for our brass quartet (two trumpets in Bb, horn in F, and tuba), I went straight for It Is Well With My Soul.  This arrangement tells in music the story of Horatio Spafford and the circumstances under which he wrote the lyric for this hymn.  The piece opens with sounding of the horn of Spafford’s ship as she passes over the point at which Spafford's four daughters were lost.  The first verse builds dramatically as the lyric comes to Spafford and ends with the lovely chorus.  The next section is based on the third stanza of the hymn in which Spafford writes, My sin, not the part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross…  The horn gets the melody, evoking the sound of Spafford’s own voice, and the other instruments vividly paint the hammering of the nails.  However, as Spafford moves into the chorus, the harmony becomes dark and uncertain as Spafford’s grief overwhelms him; his faith wavers as he tries to believe what he is writing.  Then, the melody transfers to the trumpet as Spafford is answered by the higher voice from above-his daughters assuring him that, yes, it IS well, it is well.  The piece then ends with a peaceful statement of the chorus, evocative of the rolling sea and Spafford’s soul at peace.  This piece can be played by a student ensemble; the primary challenge is in achieving the level of expression and emotion required to pull off a piece like this.
