This is an SATB+piano arrangement of one of Bob Dylan's perhaps lesser known folk tunes, but one of his most plaintive and heartfelt songs. With Dylan's exquisite sense of analogy, he paints a heartfelt portrait of Americana. The difficulty level would be intermediate. This is an excellent example of homophonic choral writing in an authentic American style, emphasizing characteristics of American folk songs, connection to nature and humanity. This would be an excellent show stopper, end of concert, or other appropriate place in a program. For students, this builds choral tone, has solo, unison, two, three, and full choral singing, and a small solo. The theme builds community, and respect and love for nature and humanity. This has simple warm harmonies that exemplify American folk music, yet with a modern touch. I guarantee you will love this piece and it will find it's place in your permanent library. Originally for two oboe soloists with string accompaniment, this arrangement has been modified for only strings. Solo parts are in divisi first violin parts, appropriate for solo players or the section. The key has been lowered to A, allowing it to sit very nicely for developing performers. A wide variety of tempi fit musically, making this an excellent choice for any group.Please note - this is only the score. The parts and score are included in a separate listing.

This is a more contemporary arrangement of the Christmas favorite.  This version employs Choir, harp, organ with more contemporary, even jazz, harmonies, while still retaining the moving spirit of the piece.   I also have an acapella version.  It is premiering this Christmas Eve(2021).  I go between eighths and triplets and it adds a contemporary feel to the piece.  I hope you enjoy it.  Notice at the end is the harp score.  This is a full score.  You could also use the version I have for SATB+piano, as it is the same. The harp part is at the end of this sheet music.

Blostein #6512091. Published by Michael D. Blostein (A0.921098). The Hebrew translation of Dreidel, the word origins can be traced back to a Hindu game. With the four sides of the box each having a different meaning, the concept has been translated here musically.The traditional melody is initially stated by all voices except bass in unison. From here, the bass enters with a moving line that borrows heavily from western jazz influence, above which we hear the other voices of the ensemble in turn. As each enters, it has a unique take on the basic structure of the original tune, but with an improvisational influence that continues as the next voice enters. When the final voice (cello) enters with the original tune restated, the upper voices join forces to in a final counter-statement.

This is designed to be a service anthem, meditative, with cello solo throughout.  The original devotional poem by Laura Kinney Farrand is included, and is based on Psalm 23.  It is of Early Intermediate difficulty for SATB choir, piano, cello, and the same melody is used for all verses with each verse a little more harmonically complex.  It is a very enjoyable anthem, short, and congregations have been very positive in their response.  I hope you enjoy it.
