MTC Publishing #861295. Published by MTC Publishing (A0.1268765). Agnus Dei - Choral Arrangement for SSA and Piano arranged by Michael Thomas CoullAgnus Dei is the Latin name under which the 'Lamb of God' is honoured within the Roman Catholic church, descending from the Latin tradition.  It is the name given to a specific prayer that occurs in the church liturgy, and the music that accompanies the text of this prayer.   The use of the title 'Lamb of God' is based on John 1:29, in which St John the Baptist, upon seeing the Saviour proclaims 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!' This arrangement of Michael W Smith’s Agnus Dei is based on the version that popular American singer/songwriter Amy Grant released on her third seasonal holiday album in 1999.  This inspirational arrangement for SSA choir and piano accompaniment can be performed at any time of the year.  The use of open fifths and fourths give the harmonies a sacred 'medieval' feeling, that will impress and fill any audience with awe. Also available for SATB.

God Defend New Zealand - Arrangement for Voice, Piano and Guitar by Michael Thomas CoullGod Defend New Zealand was first performed in Dunedin's Queen's Theatre on Christmas Day, 1876.  Played by the Royal Artillery Band and sung by the Lydia Howard Burlesque and Opera Burle Troupe, the patriotic song found immediate favour with the Dunedin public.  The words, a poem written by Thomas Bracken in the 1870s, was first published in a competition run by The Saturday Advertiser and New Zealand Literary Miscellany.  The competition was to compose a 'National Air' based on five verses of Bracken's poem, and appeared in the Advertiser on 1 July, 1876 listing a grand prize of 10 guineas.  On 9 September the Advertiser reported that 12 completed entries had been received.  Several weeks later on the 21 October the winning entry by John Joseph Woods, a school teacher from Lawrence, was announced. The popularity of God Defend New Zealand grew throughout the 19th century and entered the 20th century as one of the most popular songs.  In 1935-39 with the help of John McDermott, chief engineer of the NZ Post Office, and others God Defend New Zealand was made New Zealand's national song in time for the 1940 Centennial celebrations. In 1976, almost 100 years after the first public performance, a petition calling for God Defend New Zealand to become the national anthem of New Zealand, organised in Dunedin by Gareth Henry Latta and others, was presented to the Petitions Committee of Parliament with 7750 signatures.  With the permission of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Government adopted God Defend New Zealand as the countries national anthem.Traditionally God Defend New Zealand is performed in G major, but as this can often be rather high for amateur voices, the anthem is also presented here in F major.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1267125 By Meat Loaf. By Jim Steinman. Arranged by Michael Thomas Coull. 20th Century,Contemporary,Pop,Rock,Standards. 18 pages. MTC Publishing #859760. Published by MTC Publishing (A0.1267125). You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth - Choral Arrangement for SATB and Piano by Michael Thomas Coull. You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (also known as You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)) is the first solo single by the American singer Meat Loaf, released in 1977.  It is a track from his album Bat Out of Hell, written by Jim Steinman. According to his autobiography, Meat Loaf asked Jim Steinman to write a song that was not 15 or 20 minutes long, and, in Meat Loaf’s words, a ‘pop song’.  His autobiography also dates the writing of the song to 1975, the song reportedly being a key factor in Meat Loaf and Steinman deciding to do an album together.  The song was the first single released from the album, with an edit of For Crying Out Loud as the B-side.  The record peaked at No. 73 in the Record World singles chart, and didn't appear at all in Billboard Hot 100.  Billboard reviewed the single, finding the guitar introduction to be energetic, the beat to be ‘catchy’ and the vocal performance to be somewhat similar to Bruce Springsteen.  Billboard also commented on how occasional pauses in the instruments allow the ‘infectious’ vocals to be highlighted.   Following the success of the next two singles, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad and Paradise by the Dashboard Light, the song was re-released in October 1978 with Paradise as the B-side.  This issue peaked at No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, over a year after the first release of the song. This exciting and energetic choral arrangement is voiced for full SATB choir with piano accompaniment, and will lend a touch of contemporary pop/rock to your next concert. Also available for SSAA.

Arranged by Michael Thomas Coull. 20th Century,Christmas,Comedy,Holiday,Pop. 14 pages. MTC Publishing #860671. Published by MTC Publishing (A0.1268112). Snoopy's Christmas - Choral Arrangement for SSA and Piano by Michael Thomas CoullA follow-up to The Royal Guardsmen's earlier hit Snoopy vs. the Red Baron, the 1967 hit Snoopy's Christmas is a fictional account of how Snoopy was directed to go out and fight the Red Baron on a bitterly cold Christmas Eve.  The Baron has Snoopy at his mercy after a long dogfight, but instead of shooting him down he forces Snoopy to land and offers Snoopy a chivalrous holiday toast.  Afterward, Snoopy and the Red Baron fly their separate ways, 'each knowing they'd meet on some other day'.The song begins with a chorus singing O Tannenbaum.  The middle of the song is bridged by chimes ringing out a phrase from Hark the Herald Angels Sing.  And the song also references the 1914 Christmas Truce of World War I which was initiated not by German and British commanders, but by the soldiers themselves in the trenches. This arrangement of Snoopy's Christmas for SSA and piano accompaniment is a great song to sing at any choirs end of year holiday concert.  A classic Christmas song that is always a crowd favourite!
