Finlandia did not originally have words. Finnish lyrics were added, written by V A Koskenniemi. They were accepted by Sibelius as the official libretto in 1942.

The English words are from a hymn We Would Be One written for the Unitarian Universalists.

This arrangement has both Finnish and English words.

This version is in two parts, for ladies choir. The piano accompaniment is sparse yet evocative and the melodic is simplistic and folk-like. It is a beautiful piece.
