Soprano voice and piano - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.9230-E Composed by Juliana Hall. 10 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #9230-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.9230-E). English.Peace on Earth was commissioned by Richard Lee and Karen Lerner as a gift for their daughter, Katherine Lerner Lee, a beautiful soprano.  My husband and I had known Richard and Karen from our time as fellow graduate students at the Yale School of Music; Richard had studied composition and Karen piano, both very talented musicians and lovely people, so I was touched to be asked and very happy to write Peace on Earth as a gift for their daughter Katie, who was graduating from Oberlin Conservatory.  Katie patiently waited out the coronavirus pandemic and on April 16, 2023 she and pianist Nomin Samdan premiered Peace on Earth on her masters degree recital at the Bard College Conservatory, where she was wrapping up her studies in the Vocal Arts Program.  She wrote about Peace on Earth in her recital program notes that, “Hall responds to Williams’ catalog of constellations through slowly shifting harmonies and smooth, swung rhythms. The composer imagines the night sky as though one is dreaming it, ‘...whether it’s really up there above us or just taking place within the sleeping person’s soul.’  Through this luscious song, we are invited to daydream collectively and to come into a more unified consciousness.â€.

SATB choir, wind quintet, and piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8560-E Composed by Libby Larsen. Instrument part. 28 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8560-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8560-E). English. This piece is a three-part collection based on poetry by American pioneers. The texts are full of a kind of raw energy, swashbuckling attitude, and profundity of heart and commitment characteristic of those settlers west of the Hudson. I had also looked at the more erudite essays of Coleridge-Taylor, Thoreau, and Emerson but chose the rougher stanzas because the primitive voices, the pioneers, were profound, simply in the way they expressed the nature of their experiences. The first piece, 'Comin’ to Town,' is about cowboys after a month on the range—bawdy, rowdy, and raucous. The second, 'Beneath These Alien Stars,' is about the bonding of the human spirit to the land. The third piece, 'A Hoopla,' depicts a barn dance and vocalists circle ‘round the instruments, stomp, clap, and generally perform with abandon, vigor, and boisterousness. The Settling Years was commissioned and premiered by The Singing Sergeants and the United States Air Force Band for the 150th anniversary of the Music Educators National Convention.-Libby LarsenInstrumental Parts include: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, Bassoon, and Piano.

Christine and Jerry da Silva are close friends of Kurt Wolf, with whom Jerry studies guitar; Kurt is my close friend, who studied with me for his MM in classical guitar at the University of Minnesota. Following the tragic loss of their infant daughter, Elena, at the age of one month, Kurt commissioned this work for chorus and guitar to offer his friends the gift of something lasting in the face of impermanence. As requested, I incorporated the Catalan carol, El Noi de la Mare, which is also famous as a guitar solo. It was always the father's intention that this gift would eventually be placed in service as a soothing lullaby, one

E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #7927-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.7927-E). English.American Triptych presents aspects of spiritual experience as expressed by three North American poets: Americans E. E. Cummings and W. S. Merwin, and Canadian Bliss Carman. Commissioned by the Reading Choral Society, Reading, Pennsylvania, David DeVenney, conductor. The work received its premiere performance on November 13, 1999.The second movement, a modern translation of the tenth century hymn Veni Creator, is more lyrical in character and gives each section of the chorus a solo verse accompanied by obligato solo lines in the instrumental ensemble. The chosen ensemble of instruments (harp, soprano saxophone, double bass, piano and percussion) gives the work a decidedly American character. This work can also be performed with piano four-hands alone, or with piano four-hands and any combination of the ensemble instruments, with the two pianists omitting any doublings as indicated by the cues. Duration: 8:00.

Tenor voice or soprano voice solo, SATB choir, organ - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.6414-E Composed by Leo Nestor. Christmas, Christmas-Sacred. Score & instrument parts. 13 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #6414-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.6414-E). Sing Lullaby was commissioned by music director Michael Batcho for the Choir of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee and composed in California during the summer of 2000. Originally scored for tenor solo, mixed chorus, oboe, French horn and violoncello obbligato and organ, an independent fabric for string orchestra was composed for a performance by the Choir of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Christmas of the same year. The setting was further developed for the debut performance of The Catholic University of America Chamber Choir and Chamber Players at the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in December of 2002. In the 2008 revision, the composer decided that the obbligato trio of clarinet, French horn and bassoon most clearly evoked the ethos of shepherds, offering optimal timbral contrast to string orchestra and chorus. Substantial emendations of the entire score were made for the present edition of Sing Lullaby, first performed by The Catholic University of America Chamber Choir, University Singers, University Chorus and Symphony Orchestra at the Annual Christmas Concert for Charity at Washington's Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on 7 December 2012 with tenor Rick Christman, the composer conducting.Variation form, long favored by composers in settings of strophic music, imparts a perception of improvisation as singers and players alter harmonies, melody and rhythm to forward the unfolding narrative. Sensitive performance will caress the natural undulation of the largely ternary meter, tapering unstressed beats at the ends of phrases while maintaining the steady flow of the accompaniment. Two editions of the work are published: (I) for mixed chorus, solo, obbligato trio and organ and (II) for mixed chorus, solo, obbligato trio, string orchestra, harp and organ. The edition for chorus and obbligato instruments adds timbral variety to a Christmas concert while employing modest instrumental means which are easily available. Although in Version II both harp and organ are scored ad libitum, the harp adds significantly to the counterpoint of the obbligato instruments, providing further rhythmic impetus and textural variety. Conceived for lyric tenor, the solo may also be sung by soprano.
