Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956635 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Classical,Concert,Standards. 9 pages. C Melville-Mason #6491199. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956635). This minuet is the third movement from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik – the Serenade No. 13 for Strings in G Major, K.525 – one of Mozart’s best known works.  Scholars suspect that the piece was written under commission, although no records exist of who might have commissioned it, or when it was first performed.  Eine Kleine Nachtmusik was not published during the composer’s lifetime – it was one item in a bundle of works that his widow Constanze sold to a publisher some time after Mozart's death. This minuet from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik makes a charming recital piece or appealing addition to general repertoire.  The semi-flexible instrumentation allows for use with several slightly different player line-ups.

Soprano or mezzo-soprano and alto saxophone - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.9153-E Composed by Juliana Hall. Instrument parts. 38 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #9153-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.9153-E). English.Juliana Hall’s song setting of the famous Wallace Stevens poem Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird was commissioned by saxophonist Carrie Koffman (faculty, Hartt and Yale Schools of Music). Koffman had the idea to commission a setting of this poem in 13 parts, and to present each part in a very short performance at one of the 13 stops along the Wallace Stevens Walk in Hartford, Connecticut (the path Stevens traversed daily as he walked to and from his job at The Hartford Insurance Company). Being a song composer, Hall asked if she could write the piece with voice, which Koffman enthusiastically embraced. The work, then, is for either a soprano or a mezzo soprano voice, with alto saxophone, and is a single work in 13 parts. The premiere took place on Saturdy, October 16, 2021 along the Wallace Stevens Walk, performed on this outdoor excursion by soprano Cherie Caluda (Hartt voice faculty) and Koffman on saxophone. The indoor premiere took place soon after, on Sunday, October 24, 2021, as part of a concert at the Hartt School of Music devoted to the works of Juliana Hall.

Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #1029223. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.1449467). Organ prelude for Pentecost or any opportunity to celebrate the Spirit!Organist Cathleen Parsley of University Christian Church in Austin, Texas, commissioned the multi-talented Adrienne Inglis to create an organ arrangement of the John L. Bell hymn She Is the Spirit.  In her commentary on the work, Cathie shares: Adrienne’s arrangement is all I could have wished for. It evokes the birds, the sky, the dance, and the possibility of the Spirit referred to in the hymn’s verses. The registration is specific to UCC’s organ, though it will lend itself to any organ. It is a lovely work, written for the day (Pentecost), and it is an honor to play Adrienne’s piece for the first time this morning (May 19, 2024).Arrangement of hymn Thainaky by John L. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953628). Great for concerts about nature and the environment, pandemic life, creativity!Shelter in Place by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) for mixed SSAATB chorus with nature soundtrack created by Chris Clark-Johnsona setting of Shelter in Place, a poem by Kim Stafford Commissioned by Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, April 2021Founder, composer, and singer with Inversion Ensemble of Austin, Texas, Adrienne Inglis also serves as principal flute with the Central Texas Philharmonic, flute instructor at Southwestern University, and flutist with flute/harp duo Chaski. She has music degrees from Lewis and Clark College and the University of Texas at Austin. An avid birder and environmentalist, she lives in the rural hill country of Central Texas.Poet Kim Stafford grew up in Oregon, Iowa, Indiana, California, and Alaska, following his parents as they taught and traveled through the West. He is the author of a dozen books of poetry and prose, and the founding director of the Northwest Writing Institute at Lewis & Clark College, where he has taught since 1979. He holds a PhD in Medieval Literature from the University of Oregon, and has worked as a printer, photographer, oral historian, editor, and visiting writer at a host of colleges and schools, and offered writing workshops in Italy, Scotland, and Bhutan.Shelter in Place by Kim Stafford (used with permission)Long before pandemic prisoned us,the trees knew how to guard their placewith roots and shade.Moss found how to hug a stone for life.Every stream knows how to move in place, stay home and yet flow outward, sending bounty far.Now is our time to practice-now to sing from balconies, now send words of comfortby any courier, now to hoard lonesome generosity-and then to shine in all directions like stars.Program note: Shelter in Place (2021) by Adrienne Inglis, commissioned by Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, April 2021, sets former Oregon poet laureate Kim Stafford’s poem Shelter in Place (2020) for SSAATB mixed choir with Oregon nature soundtrack created by Chris Clark-Johnson, Lewis & C lark College class of 2021. Written during the coronavirus pandemic, the poem expresses how quarantine can serve as a conduit for healing, how words of comfort flow despite barriers, and how the paralysis of sheltering in place generates creative movement. The music and poem draw inspiration from ancient forest wisdom, shown musically with a pentatonic scale. The tight harmonies of Locrian mode bind moss to stone and stream to its own flow. Then vocal expression bursts forth with lush harmonies as singers serenade from balconies, sharing compassion through music. Returning to the pentatonic scale, we overcome obstacles and send generosity beyond our ancient and modern world into the celestial realm. The nature soundtrack features sounds of the Oregon forest, stream, and night sky.Acknowledgements: The composer warmly thanks Katherine FitzGibbon, Bailey Dean, Chris Clark-Johnson, Kim Stafford, and the Lewis & Clark College Community Chorale. Contact the composer to obtain the audio file of the nature soundtrack.Copyright © 2021 Adrienne Inglis | adrienne.inglis.com
