Forever associated in the UK with the comedy duo Morecambe and Wise on the BBC, this toe-tapping standard is often played at the Morecambe Football Club ground both prior to and after their games, whilst the club's fans have adopted the song as the official anthem. It was first recorded by (and written for) The Mills Brothers in 1968, but another famous recording is by outlaw country singer Willie Nelson. This version for concert band (flexibly scored in the event of an incomplete ensemble) and choir in two parts is sure to bring a smile to all that hear it.

This arrangement was requested by Lofthouse 2000 Brass Band, to bring some sunshine to his band whilst everyone was in lockdown during the 2019/2020 Coronavirus Pandemic.

Whilst this arrangement is written for the standard brass dectet instrumentation of 4 trumpets, 1 French Horn, 4 trombones and 1 tuba (with optional drum kit part), it can also be performed by larger ensembles (such as the UK-style brass band) due to all of the alternative parts included (e.g. part for tenor horn and treble-clef lower brass instruments). There are also alternative parts for ensembles that only have 3 trumpets, or 3 trombones, etc. An alternative score has also been provided for ease of conducting in the UK. Bring Me Sunshine is a light-hearted, catchy song written in 1966 and was first recorded by The Mills Brothers and then Willie Nelson. In the UK it was popularised by the comedy duo Morecambe and Wise who used it as their theme song. Although the lyrics are in many ways light-hearted, the message is still very poignant - it's an encouragement to us all to bring more love and light (sunshine) into our world. Similar sentiments are found in other songs of the era such as What the world needs now, All you need is love and Here comes the sun.

This arrangement would suit school and amateur choirs and is mostly in 2-parts with just some additional harmonies at the end, which are optional. The piano accompaniment includes the melody line but this can be omitted once the singers are confident. A separate vocal score is included for the singers. The change of key lifts the mood to a higher level, and throughout the singing style needs to be light, rhythmic and above all full of encouragement.
