SKU: A0.824012

Composed by Anton Rubinstein. Arranged by Tim TK Murray. Concert,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 7 pages. TK (Tim) Murray #4784675. Published by TK (Tim) Murray (A0.824012).

Rubinstein's Romance is deservedly one of his most famous pieces. It is everything a romantic work should be - beautiful, lyrical, passionate and dramatic. These characteristics are intensified by arranging it for 2 Violins & Piano and make it an ideal interlude in a concert programme. It is Equally successful when performed by a Violin Group.

Originally from Glasgow, Timothy studied at the Royal College of Music, London and the Banff Centre, Canada. He was the Pianist for the Isis Piano Trio and Ballet Creations and is now in demand as an accompanist and chamber musician having performed with artists such as Dame Sarah Connolly and Tasmin Little. He has toured widely internationally and has recorded for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM as well as TV appearances in Russia and Egypt. Murray’s compositions have been recorded by The Fibbonnaci Sequence and Piers Lane among others with reviews such as ‘Corruscating’ (Independent) and ‘Highly imaginative’ (The Sunday Times).

By Sarah Vaughan. By Clyde Otis and Murray Stein. Arranged by Phil Thrift. Jazz. Score and Parts. 48 pages. Phil Thrift #6062351. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955738).

When my friend Werner told me to listen to Smooth Operator, I thought he meant the well-known mid-80s smooth jazz number by the British band Sade. Instead, I got a surprise. This Smooth Operator was totally different, totally unknown to me, and provoked me to find out about Dorothy Dandridge and her life. I encourage you to do so too.
The album Smooth Operator was released in 1999. However, Dorothy Dandridge had recorded this song nearly 40 years earlier, in February 1961, with – according to the sleeve notes from Verve Records – an unknown orchestra and unknown producer. The arranger of the band charts is also not credited. It seems there was just one take, because when Ms. Dandridge enters at the pickup to measure 5, it takes the rhythm section a few beats to fall into line with her; one trumpet also enters too early in measure 74! Notwithstanding, this is an amazing, very cool number, and if your female vocalist feels up to the challenge of these cheeky, risqué lyrics, then these easy charts will enable your big band to recreate the piece.
Although the style is dated and recalls a bygone era, I feel this song is a good way to remember this brilliant actress, singer, and dancer who died so young, and draw attention to the injustices she suffered and which are still with us today. The tagline to the film of her life starring Halle Berry sums up her life: Right woman. Right place. Wrong time.

Composed by Anton Rubenstein, Camille Saint-Saens, Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Tim TK Murray. Concert,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 40 pages. TK (Tim) Murray #4783099. Published by TK (Tim) Murray (A0.823996).

Four arrangements for 2 violins ( Violin Duo, Violin Groups ) of contrasting Romantic repertoire from some of the great Composers - Volume 2 includes the sparkling joy of Mendelssohn's Capriccio Op16 No1, Tchaikovsky's heartfelt & dramatic Romance Op5, the passionately lyrical Romance by Rubenstein & the fun Dance that is  'Pas Redouble' by Saint-Saens. All of these great pieces work equally well for Violin Duo or Violin Groups and are loved by audiences and performers alike.

SKU: A0.505401

By Cyndi Lauper and Phil Collins. By Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. Arranged by Rubinho. Pop,Rock. Score and parts. 72 pages. Rubinho #117048. Published by Rubinho (A0.505401).

This arrangement is for Concert Band, includes: Score, (2) Flutes, (2) Oboes, (4) Bb Clarinets, Eb Alto Clarinet, Bb Bass Clarinet, (2) Alto Saxs, (2) Tenor Saxs, Baritone Sax, (4) French Horns in F, (4) Trumpets, (3) Tenor Trombones, Bass Trombone, Eufonio in C, Tuba in C, Electric Guitar, Piano, Electric Bass and Drums. Key = F True Colors was written by Billy Steinberg as a tribute to his mother and mother. Tom Kelly altered the first verse of the song, which was shown initially to Anne Murray, who gave up recording it, and only later to Cyndi Lauper. The arrangements of the demo version resembled a gospel ballad with an emphasis on the piano sound, such as the song Bridge over Troubled Water . Steinberg told Songfacts that Cyndi completely took the traditional arrangement apart and came up with something that was breathtaking.
