We name this period the Romantic Period of Art and Music History, not merely alluding to feelings of love and affection, but the broader sense that includes all emotions (including joy, anger, calmness, amusement etc.) ♫ In his day, Brahms music was praised (and strongly criticized) for using the forms of the previous century for the structure of his music. He often used the patterns of Mozart and Beethoven to organize the flow of his musical ideas. But the expressive content that he shared within those boundaries was genius. ♫ As a freshman at university, I asked an older piano student whose piano music she most enjoyed playing.
