Proving the basic idea still works for modern piano composition, I've adapted it here in a country blues format. Befitting the more contemporary harmonic style, the V7 chord here is a minor 7th, not dominant. The difficulty in this piece starts at measure 10, where a contrapuntal voice jumps in. But it's short—and fun to play. A good showpiece for the advanced intermediate pianist.

In revising it, I understood where it came from—Monk and Shorter.
