A contemporary classical piece and composed for String Quartet, it uses various techniques, rhythms and repetitions recreating musically the tram and therefore has a sense of 'Programme music'. The 1st movement is light, energetic and has a youthful demeanour- this appears rhythmically simple, but second and third position violin techniques are used. The 2nd movement has more spirit and rhythms become more fluid and progressive. It also comprises of various pizzicato techniques The 3rd movement follows chromatic harmonic techniques and has an atonal sense, but quite suitable for a Beginner String Quartet or various aspiring contemporary youth groups. The whole composition also comprises of pizzicato, tremolo and staccato expression and techniques. I hope you are able to find some fun and enjoyment in playing this score.
