Downloadable, vocal/piano score. Op. 30. Duration 17 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q20442. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q20442). The concert piece 'Nirvana Burning' was commissioned by the Salzburg Festival and premiered by Fazıl Say and the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra at the festival opening in August 2010. It consists of the movements Nirvana and Burning which blend into each other 'attacca'. 'The topic of my piece is Nirvana, the mysterious place of salvation inside us, or the non-describable feeling to get into touch with it', says Say. 'When I played it at home, first my sister and then even my cats and dogs quietly entered the room to listen. But when I reached the second part, Burning, they all left the room in a hurry.'.

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.855089 By Rebecca St. James. By Lenny Leblanc and Paul Baloche. Arranged by Joseph Pugh. Christian,Gospel. Octavo. 9 pages. Joseph Pugh #6136991. Published by Joseph Pugh (A0.855089). This  song Above All, by Michael W. Smith has a story with it.. As Jim Caviezel told it:I listened to it over and over and over again. My heart started to burn. I mean burn inside. I had tears coming out and at that point my whole day was gone in 10 minutes. It put me in a zone and took me out of my pain. It took me out of feeling sorry for myself and it took me into heaven, Caviezel said, going on to note that the song made him realize that even in all this suffering, man, evil has no power over us at all.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1125812 By Michael Swedberg. By 13th Century Finnish Carol. Arranged by Terrence Niska. Christmas,Contemporary,Holiday. Score. 8 pages. Niska Music Publishing #726552. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.1125812). This carol holds a special memory for me. I was living in Green Bay following my graduate studies and I was teaching private voice lessons at Appleton West High School with my brother and his wife at the request of the choral director, Kevin Meidl. Kevin was also the director of the Appleton Boychoir and one year he asked me to sing the solo part of this carol for a recording they were making. My arrangement of this carol is rather straightforward with very little altering of the basic rhythms found in the original tune. However, the melody in the first verse is found among triplet figures and therefore one must be sure to bring out the important notes. There is a dance-like quality to the music, reminiscent of a gigue from the Baroque period. Following a brief reprise of the opening material the melody shifts to the left hand, starting out as a single note and soon joined in harmony. To me, it represents the page and the king from the story as they walk through the cold, winter night to bring food and fuel to the peasant living near the mountain. The melody then moves back to the right hand, but is now played in half notes indicating the difficult terrain and the snow they must traverse causing them to move more slowly. The left hand rumbles below as a reminder of the wind blowing and the snow swirling about them. The page, fears he cannot go on, but the king tells him to walk in his footsteps and all will be well. Soon, monarch and servant are moving swiftly to their destination. The music slowly fades as they pass into the mountain’s shadow only to grow once again as they arrive at the poor man’s home. The final chords ring out as the door is thrown open and they step inside to share what they have brought.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1205401 Composed by Ben Clapton. Classical,Contemporary. Score and parts. 103 pages. Ben Clapton #803587. Published by Ben Clapton (A0.1205401). An Orchestral Fanfare, written for the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Perth. 2 Flutes (2nd doubling Piccolo), 2 Oboes, 2 Bb Clarinet, 2 Bassoon, 4 French Horns, 2 Trumpets in Bb, 2 Trombones, 1 Tuba, 4 Percussion (Timpani, Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Cymbals), Harp, StringsComposer's notes:2022 was a year that sparked inspiration for me. I am not talking about just one spark either, but a series that beautifully led me to the creation of my piece. After seeing the 2022 MetSO program it was evident that it lightly using the Brass players, and I knew they were feeling a bit underutilised. Which sparked the first idea in my mind to write a piece that would take full advantage of their skills, and heavily use brass instruments. The program coincided with the 45th Anniversay of the Orchestra which started it life as the Karrinyup Symphony Orchestra. Rekindling the orchestra’s relationship with the City of Stirling and returning to the City of Stirling as a rehearsal venue in 2023, was another spark of inspiration which led me towards the piece’s naming… the ā€˜Karrinyup Fanfare’. The last spark of inspiration was a query inside my mind. The opening of the piece contrasts two somewhat conflicting meanings of the word Karrinyup. During an Aboriginal Studies unit, I discovered that Karrinyup is a Noongar word that translates to ā€œthe place where there are spidersā€. However, this differs from the City of Stirling official meaning of the name Karrinyup on the website. It states the word means ā€œthe place where Kangaroos drinkā€, possibly because it sounds much more pleasant and doesn’t inspire the fear that spiders often do. It was this contrary interpretation of the word ā€˜Karrinyup’ which provided the final spark of inspiration I needed for this composition. You see, when you listen to the opening, the theme jumps up and down through the horns, and represents the Kangaroo – Yongka. Whilst as the fanfare continues, you will notice the second theme – the crawling strings represent the spider – Kar. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it. May it, and this new year, spark inspiration for you.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.749239 By Justin Bieber Duet With Mariah Carey. By Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff. Arranged by HELEN MARPLE-HORVAT. Contemporary. 39 pages. Helen Marple-Horvat #6196305. Published by Helen Marple-Horvat (A0.749239). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSx1esb0D0wMariah Carey released this critically acclaimed song in 1994 and it has remained a popular snowy-season Christmas standard ever since. I originally arranged it for Voice with Quartet accompaniment in F, with my daughter, Alice Rose Wild, who sings on the live recording. You can hear our recording of the whole song on my channel if you type in Skinny Black Dogs, Capriccio Quartet, ā€˜All I want for Christmas’ into Youtube. More recently I have created this version for String Quartet in the key of G.Ā  At the moment I have only the Sibelius computer score, and hope to record it with Capriccio Quartet once the covid pandemic is at an end. Suspend your disbelief! Why choose my Arrangement? The arrangement is in a great key for strings and most of the double stopping includes an open string. In one or two places the double stopping is a bit more tricky, so for younger players it would be better perhaps to miss out one of the notes, or to play them consecutively. The Intro. For the first violinist I include two versions of the intro and recommend that the quartet listen to the original, or to Alice’s recording for speed and performance tips. It is quite difficult to get the computer to do it musically, so the video intro is only intended as a rough guide. One of the enclosed options is intended as a rehearsal version, and has the lyrics to help. I have bowed it to include lots of downbows, and recovery of bows, which will help the other members to follow. The tricky sextuplet and triplet ornament at bar 10 can be omitted altogether. Simply pause on the ā€˜C’ and then recover the downbow for the next bar.I also include two versions of the violin two and viola parts. One is on two pages as a smaller font, and one on three pages with a larger font. For cellists who are a bit daunted by the solo at letter A , simplyĀ  play the fourth position semi breve Gs at bar 12 and at bars 13 and 14 too, and revert to the original score at bar 15. ie Six semibreve Gs. Perhaps a harmonic D at bar 15 would be easier than a shift at this point, and then join in unison with the rest of the band. The song moves between a straight crotchet pulse and lots of syncopated lines. This will be difficult to read on paper, but I always recommend listening to the song many times and then doing it by ear, using the notes on the page as a guide. Try not to play them too literally.PrintoutsPages 1 - 10 are for Look Inside Options only.Pages 11 - 28 includes all PartsPage 29 onwards is the optional Score for rehearsals.Ā The vocal version is proving popular, but for a standard quartet Wedding and Events repertoire I hope that people will enjoy this arrangement. Send me recordings on facebook, even if they are phone rehearsals. I love to hear them, and to make contact with quartets around the world!

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.744630 Arranged by Arranged by Elena Fortin. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred,Spiritual. Score. 4 pages. Elena Fortin #6082835. Published by Elena Fortin (A0.744630). Amazing Grace - Intermediate piano solo Arranged by Elena FortinLately, I have been working on arrangements and videos of songs that I consider to be important either in the way they touch listeners, in how they are used, or if they have stood the test of time.Amazing Grace is a beautiful, traditional hymn with well-known lyrics penned by John Newton. The original hymn was published in 1779, with the words written in 1772. This piece is one of those songs that can be used for many different reasons. It is used in worship services, as a hymn of praise and faith, as celebration of life lived, and as a prayer of thanksgiving.  My arrangement is for the intermediate player. The arrangement is simple, but should be played expressively. Each repetition of the hymn is slightly different, with the second repetition using the harmonic structure but introducing a new invented melody by me. (You can hum the melodic line of Amazing Grace over the top of this second repetition and you'll see what I mean!) The very last repetition is played allargando which means slightly slower, and more broadly. Enjoy those left hand octave notes and full chords! High Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.915900 Composed by Judy Lane. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. 8 pages. Judy Lane Music #5996469. Published by Judy Lane Music (A0.915900). Judy Lane's own words are used in this comforting and powerful song with a message. The song is for a solo performance at a praise and worship church service. The song of the Angel came clear in the night. Pray cease your worry and calm your fright. Our Lord left his footprints as clear as the day. Just follow them, follow them all of the way, But Lord though I try hard, I stray from your path. I slip when it's frosty and trip over stones. The wind blows me sideways, the fog clouds my eyes. Oh Lord I am lost, Lord I am lost, Lord I am lost. When I woke the next morning the world seemed more clear. Gone were my worries, more calm my fear. Those footprints were shining the way seemed more clear And the song of the Angel will forever with me stay.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1457421 Composed by Domenico Gallo/Giovanni Pergolesi. Arranged by Ray Thpmpson. Baroque. 8 pages. RayThompsonMusic #1036444. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1457421). Arranged wind quintetThe original baroque music used by Igor Stravinsky for his ballet Pulcinella was originally attributed to Giovanni Pergolesi, as they were so described in a Mr R. Bremner's original 1780 London publication. They were also arranged later by Hugo Riemann, and were again wrongly attributed to Giovanni Pergolesi. However Most of the original music is by Domenico Gallo (including the Finale of the suite), one or two are by Giovanni Pergolesi (including the Menuetto)The Pulcinella Suite for small chamber orchestra and 3 vocalists which was derived from the ballet, was written in 1922 and has no vocal parts. This is the original music he used as the basis of the Minuetto/Finale.But even though Stravinsky used Gallo's and Pergolesi's melodies and bass lines with little change in the earler movements of the Suite he managed to put his own unmistakable stamp on the music through his use of modern harmonies and occasional rhythmic modifications. However in the Menuetto and Finale he changes things considerably, with more dischordant harmonies and rhythm changes. My arrangement is of the the original two pieces:My arrangement  uses Gallo's/Pergolesi's classical/baroque harmonies.Check out my other arrangements of other music used by Stravinsky in his Pulcinella Suite.

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810983 Composed by Cherry Classics Music. Arranged by John, W., and Ware. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 63 pages. Gordon Cherry #4601711. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810983). This fine work has sat dormant for many years and has now come to light thanks to the efforts of Charlie Vernon, Bass Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony, who performed this virtuoso work as a young performer. The concerto is in the standard three movement form: Fast, slow, fast. This publication is a reduction from the original orchestral version (to be released at some point in the future). Here is a description of the Concerto by the composer, John W. Ware. I started on the trombone concerto in my junior year studying composition at Indiana University.  While working on it, I learned of an opportunity to make it sort of a thesis piece (though students didn't write a thesis in composition while an undergrad).  The original version was for trombone with string orchestra, and it was performed by the IU String Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Arthur Corra, with Robert Priez, trombone, as part of my senior composition recital.  I thought the performance was quite good (Priez played extraordinarily well), and the piece received a newspaper review in the Indiana Daily Student, in which the reviewer wrote that the work was almost too exciting.  I thought at the time that he had given me and my music a fine compliment.  I made a piano version of the accompaniment, shortening and tightening the first movement, for performances in 1966; I made a second revision in 1967 for a performance by E. J. Eaton, trombonist at the University of Tennessee at Martin, arriving at the form in which the work exists now. The first movement is in fairly normal sonata-allegro form, in the key of A minor.  It alternates between assertive and more thoughtful moods.   There is no introduction; the soloist enters immediately and dominates much of the movement. The main theme is--by some manipulation--a source for most of the other themes, and all of the themes are used in close proximity to each other, including contrapuntal combinations, especially near the end.  Originally the movement included a lengthy fugato, now much shortened and including a stretto that builds and subsides before a cadenza leading to a coda based on both the principal and secondary themes.  Key relations in this movement, as in the other two, are quite free and often chromatic, with frequent third-relations; but returns to the tonic at the end are emphatic.  The writing is challenging for both soloist and accompanist; the piece is substantial, requiring technique and stamina. The second movement is in F minor and is also built on both contrast and close relationships between the main and secondary themes.  The main theme is heard in the piano part before the soloist enters.  The mood is more lyric than in the first movement, but with dramatic episodes also.  In this movement are some definite derivations from themes in the first movement.  The ending is a sort of lengthened shadow of the opening. The finale returns to A minor, with themes slightly related to polonaise rhythms, but with strong echoes of first-movement themes.  Here, too, dramatic and lyric episodes alternate, with dotted rhythms frequently propelling the music forward.  The introduction is a brief and simple preparation for the solo entry.  Later in the movement, a very brief, slightly slower section is soon overtaken by the original tempo.  Toward the end, there is a second cadenza, again leading to a swift and energetic coda. The work is about 20 minutes in length and is appropriate for advanced performers.

Published by Burbury Lane Music (A0.1028052). River MusicĀ is aĀ fun and accessible pieceĀ thatĀ has receivedĀ much positiveĀ feedbackĀ in the clarinet worldĀ and has been performed manyĀ times, includingĀ at the International ClarinetĀ Association'sĀ ClarinetFest.Ā ItĀ is an approximately 8 minute piece for two Bb clarinets and bass clarinet thatĀ would beĀ equally at home on an environmental-themed concert or any other type of program.Ā ItĀ is a relatively advanced pieceĀ butĀ hasĀ been performedĀ byĀ highĀ school students.Ā River MusicĀ wasĀ writtenĀ forĀ Clarinets for Conservation.Program Note: River Music was inspired by my time one summer spent on the Chattahoochee River and at the Chattahoochee Nature Center nearĀ Atlanta, Georgia. I have always had a connection to bodies of water, having spent many summers and weekends at the lake by my grandparents’ house in New York. While sometimes I feel like an outsider as a New Yorker living in the South, as soon as I got on the river, canoeing down the Chattahoochee, I felt at home again. Something about the river reminds me of my childhood on Lake Peekskill, and River Music was partially inspired by that connection.Once I started writing the piece, it took on a life of its own, as water and nature (and composing) often does. One reason I’ve always felt strongly about environmentalism and protecting our natural environment is that all of it – the trees, the earth, the rivers, the lakes – has been here long before we came along and started messing it up, and it will (hopefully) be here long after we’re gone, as long as we make sure to protect these natural spaces and wilderness areas. I often think about how much trees have seen, and as I wrote this piece I started thinking about how much the river has seen too. I hear stories in River Music, and to me it’s the river telling us some, though certainly nowhere near all, of its stories.Perhaps River Music will take you, the listener, on a journey down the river-not just through space, but through time. You might hear some of the same stories I hear. Or you may not. Part of the beauty of writing a piece inspired by a river is that I hope you hear in it whatever the river means to you.Note:Ā TheĀ sheet musicĀ includes a score, regular setĀ of parts,Ā andĀ a bonusĀ setĀ ofĀ parts thatĀ includeĀ a partial score underneath the main part. The composer is a member of ASCAP and may be reached at www.sarahhersh.com or sarahhershcomposer@gmail.com.
