B-Flat Clarinet,Bassoon,Instrumental Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1313712 Composed by Geraldine Green. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. 47 pages. Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic #902438. Published by Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic (A0.1313712). ALL PURCHASES COME WITH SCORE AND PARTSThe Sonatina For Clarinet And Bassoon was written between March and June 2018 and is dedicated to my good bassoonist friend Jane Thompson and her family. It was her husband, Astley Jones, who asked me to write the piece as a way of showing her how much we all loved her! I thought that was the sweetest thing and the rest is history! We hoped to give this piece its world premiere at some point in 2018 or 2019, with Jane herself playing the bassoon and myself on clarinet. However, the first major hurdle was Jane having an operation on each hand to cure her Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and the second big hurdle was Covid-19! Due to life’s normal pressures, the work still awaits its long awaited for premiere. It has three movements, fast, slow, fast, and a total duration of approximately 15 minutes. The clarinet part is for Bflat clarinet.I have also transcribed the bassoon part for bass clarinet so the piece can be played by either combination. It could even be played by two bass clarinets, which would be hilarious!I feel, as a player myself, that its main challenge is in sheer breathing and playing stamina as it certainly gets you working up a sweat by the end, but its comical, quirky character will hopefully make it great fun for players and audience alike.

Cello Duet Cello - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1012643 Composed by Timothy Arliss OBrien. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 2 pages. Timothy Arliss OBrien #5991021. Published by Timothy Arliss OBrien (A0.1012643). This aggressive cello duet was composed after many bouts of rage with myself. These bursts of anger haunted me for years and only after composing this piece was I freed of my anger. I still listen to this piece from time to time during bouts of rage to remind myself that the only way to win a fight is make concessions and come to an agreement with yourself. I hope these melodies will relieve your aggression and leave you humming this tune anytime you are frustrated. This beautifully fitful piece was performed and recorded by the cellist Raúl Andueza in June of 2020.

Organ - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q45410 Für Orgel. Composed by Christian Jost. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 15 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q45410. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q45410). There is no other work more closely associated with the organ than Johann Sebastian Bach’s Toccata in D minor. During my compositional preparation, I repeatedly found myself returning to this work. I had a number of different formal models in mind, but felt myself gravitating towards the rhapsodic character of toccata form so that my new composition for organ ultimately became a toccata developing from a pedal point on the fundamental note ’D’. As is appropriate to the volume of a large modern organ, my concept focuses on symphonic tonal layers whose suggestive maelstrom originates from the inner strength of repeating elements and their register- like augmentation, culminating in the unleashing of polyrhythmic progressions. Flute Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018922 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6072947. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018922). Fugue: Wear Pearls and Smile is, on the outset, a fast, rambunctious adventure for many voices playing at the same time. It was conceived as a pairing for the equally vivacious second symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven–his 250th birthday is this year–but can stand on its own as one of my hardest, most challenging works to cook up.This piece is dedicated to those forced to appear positive when internally they’re falling apart. The title is inspired by a quote that’s been with me for a while, Why is it that men can be bastards and women must wear pearls and smile? by Lynn Hecht Schafren, the celebrated American jurist famous for campaigning for gender equity in courts. I’m taking the quote out of its initial context, but the power of that quote, for me, exemplifies how hard it is to maintain a sense of emotional decorum and dignity when you’re authentically a hot mess. And what’s more of a musical hot mess than a fugue? There are two realities to this piece. I’ll quote Dmitri Shostakovich, from his autobiography: The rejoicing is forced, created under threat, […] It’s as if someone were beating you with a stick and saying, ‘Your business is rejoicing, your business is rejoicing,’ and you rise, shaky, and go marching off, muttering ‘Our business is rejoicing, our business is rejoicing.’ On the one hand, it is insincere happiness, cloying perhaps. But the other truth, I’ll quote Oscar Hammerstein II, from The King and I: While shivering in my shoes / I strike a careless pose / And whistle a happy tune / And no one ever knows, / I'm afraid. I forced myself, against all impulses of my current being, to forge happiness. This piece, with its origin being a mental puzzle (fugues are puzzles), it became a construct where I could lift myself up and regain a sense of purpose. Therefore, it is invented–out of a literal need to survive–pure, genuine happiness.Future Performances: If you are interested in performing this work, please e-mail me.ABOUT THE COMPOSER: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings , with support from the Ontario Arts Council. Hopefully it helps give a little meaning to its purpose! One songIt just takes one song to move myself to another world,And my heart beats faster. One songMakes me feel I can conquer every problem-All the world's disasters. One songIt makes my heart break and mend itself overAnd overAnd overUntil it's a whole new heartWith a whole new stature. One songI hear joy. I hear peace.But it's all for myself.It doesn't even matter.One songI don't know how to share what I hear.One songSo what I hear disappears.One songTurns to none, so I fear,And try to find another one songThat I can hold dear. One song,But it all happens again. One songBreaks a heart that's already bee mendedBy the first one song,And the heart's offended.Now there's two songs;The one song has ended.Two songs Clash and pretend thatTwo songsAre unique but they can't be - insteadTwo songsAffected the same heart.With two songsThe first's uniqueness is upended. Two songsSplit the heartHalf as powerfulAs the start,So I need another two one songsTo double the power. But the result is the same, And the dilution gets stronger. And what was difficult to share initiallyBecomes impossible because my heart isn't free. It's torn into a million piecesEach tied to a one song, each song with the thesisThat I want to share my songs to everyoneBecause of how it broke and mended my heart. But too many songs made my heart hardenedUntil the songs hardly affect a heart - just scar it.By the time I learn how to share any songThey'll all be goneJust the heart's shadow of what it longed to share. So I watch others to see if my one song was a myth. They all have one songs creating the semblance of mended heart. So my one song could only make another heart splitDiluting their one song to half as powerful as its start.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1160855 Composed by Nick Norton. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 11 pages. Bathysphere Music #761167. Published by Bathysphere Music (A0.1160855). The four calm interludes (should that be capitalized?) are Four One, On Nothing, About Sixths, and On Sol. They are intended as simple, meditative pieces, perhaps good for student pianists to attempt. In spring of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, I suffered a massive manic episode followed by a debilitating depression that lasted over a year. During this time I found my relationship with music fraught—I could not compose, and could barely even listen to music for enjoyment, relaxation, or whatever other reasons people listen to music. It was terrifying, thinking my life’s work was over. The shift to being unable to compose or listen, however, was a gradual, like the shift from mania to depression. I found my listening habits following what seemed like a massive ritardando, as they moved away from the upbeat music I was used to toward more and more ambient, very slow music. Hiroshi Yoshimura’s album Music For Nine Postcards was on repeat for a long while before the total break. Its calm repetitions must have influenced what I was doing, because I sometimes found myself at the piano playing the same note or chord over and over again, just listening to the details in the resonance. Out of this came the first of these four pieces, On Nothing.Eight months later I found myself doing it again, the result of which is Four One. Another eight months went by before About Sixths, and then, as my recovery became more and more apparent, only two months passed until On Sol. I am grateful to say I am now composing every day again, though my music has, without conscious intention, taken on a far more introspective feel than ever before.I have not given the pieces numbers, because I don’t mind if they are played in a different order, alone, or—as the title suggests—as interludes between other pieces. I do like the printed order though.

Duration 122. Patricia Tanttila Holmberg #1966901. Published by Patricia Tanttila Holmberg (A0.1068480). This is an old well-known Christian hymn played on the piano. It has an updated rhythmic feel to give it a bit of life. Here are the lyrics, if you want to sing along with it: Rock of Ages cleft for me; Let me hide myself in Thee. Let the water and the blood from thy wounded side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure; Save from wrath and make me pure. Could my tears forever flow, Could my zeal no respite know, This for sin could not atone – Thou must save, and Thou along; In my hand no price I bring, Simply to Thy cross I cling. When I draw my final breath, When my eyes shall close in death. When I rise to worlds unknown And be hold Thee on Thy throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee. Published by Wendell Rosa (A0.915186). Against the designs of divine the man nothing can do. Uprising is worthless. And so I live: impotently beholding what to me has been destined. Yet the desire for liberty transforms myself. The sudden metamorphosis of nature makes rise inside of me the wish to battle; battle against the voice of the fate. And when a single weightless carelessness of the Gods was enough, I rebelled myself in combat. Thirsty of this divine trance, which is fighting against my own fate, retrieve what from me was stolen, I want freedom.- Wesley Rosa.

Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBW196-S). 9 x 12 in inches. As an ardent fan of film, I have found myself increasingly attracted to full-fledged scores for cinema. No matter if it's an arrangement of a specific piece, or an original composition, I find myself wanting to view a movie merely for the score. When I was growing up, Westerns were a ubiquitous genre in Hollywood. In addition, New York City had a number of television stations that offered them as well. What all of these films and television programs had in common was, that they always had a strong, catchy and folksy theme. Prime examples were the themes to Bonanza, Wyatt Earp, Wanted Dead or Alive, etc.I wrote The Opening of The West with the goal of having some catchy, folksy and iconic themes that people would remember. I would like to think that this could eventually become an iconic western score.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153691 By Scott Custer Jr. By Scott Custer Jr. Contemporary. Score and parts. 101 pages. Scott Custer Jr #753948. Published by Scott Custer Jr (A0.1153691). My first complete concert band piece. It's been in the works for about 3 months. The early drafts of this piece were written in April/May and were then left to collect dust for months. I wrote it to experiment with melodic/harmonic minor scales and did not intend to finish the piece. Around the same time I wrote the early drafts of the piece, my high school band director asked if I wanted to write a piece for the concert band. I agreed and spent months working on different pieces of music, completing none of them. Around late October I stumbled across this looking through old pieces of music for some new ideas. I listened through it 3 or 4 times and decided to continue the piece. After spending roughly two months finishing the draft, and another month revising and adding parts, I had finally finished Trapped. When I started working on this piece with the intention of finishing it, I was at a difficult point in my life. I had recently come home from my rookie season of drum corps and was still transitioning back to the real world. The freedom of tour had been taken away from me, I had mentally matured a lot during the summer. While only 17 I felt like I was stuck with a bunch of kids. I had spent all summer with friends much older than me, learning a lot from them and taking inspiration from them in many ways. When I started this piece, I was conflicted with many thoughts and emotions. I was still under the impression that my peers in the music program hated me because of some of my actions last year. The girl from home I had been talking with all summer while I was gone, and hoped to start a relationship with, lied to me while I was gone about many things, causing me to remove them from my life. The last year and a half have involved many events like losing my best friend of 5 years because of, what I consider, an overreaction on my part; being used for my kindness; lied to; having secrets about me revealed behind my back by those I trusted; being a therapy friend; constant overthinking; as well as toxic friendships I didn’t want to leave because I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I felt trapped. I had spent so long trying to improve myself to become who I am today, and I still felt like crap. Even though I knew and promised myself I wouldn’t follow through, I was battling suicidal thoughts and I was in a severely depressive episode of my life. I wrote this piece to express the feeling of overthinking, being trapped in your mind, and the road to recovery. The constant back-and-forth battles with yourself, unsure of where to go and what to do next; feeling trapped. I hope that this piece connects and resonates with those of you in a similar position to what I was in, and I promise there is a way out and that life does get better. And with that, I present to you, Trapped.
