Small Ensemble,Strings Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549783 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Concert,Sacred,Standards,World. Score and parts. 27 pages. Jmsgu3 #3535793. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549783). Mozart's Romanze from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525 for String Quartet and Piano (Piano Quintet). Duration: ca. 7:00. Score: 11 pages. Violin I: 4 pages, Violin II: 3 pages, Viola: 3 pages, Cello: 2 pages, piano: 4 pages. This is one of the most beloved works in all of Mozart's catalog making it a strong choice for a recital, meditation, nightclub, church or wedding reception. Eine kleine Nachtmusik Eine kleine Nachtmusik is also at the same time known as Serenade No. 13. Indeed, we find it listed in the Köchel Catalog as K. 525. With this in mind, Mozart composed the piece by all means in 1787 probably as a commission. To clarify, the title translates as a little night-music. Mozart originally scored the work in particular for an ensemble of two violins, viola, and cello with double bass (optional). In modern times the work is certainly usually performed by string orchestras, though it is often in fact performed by a string quartet – with or without double bass. Publication A point often overlooked is that the name of the work derives from the entry Mozart made in his private journal. He wrote: Eine kleine Nacht-Musik. This explains that Mozart was probably not naming the piece, but only entering a record that he had completed it. Nevertheless, the work was published by and large in 1827. It had been sold to the publisher for the most part in 1799 by Mozart's widow Constanze. Nowadays, it is on balance extensively performed and recorded. Some critics ultimately claim that it is the most popular of all Mozart's works.   Early Years Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791), was a productive and significant Austrian classical composer. Mozart displayed unusual musical capability from his earliest childhood. It seems like he was already capable on keyboard and violin at the age of two. He started composing at age five and performed before European royalty. Middle Period At 17, Mozart was working as a musician at the Salzburg Royal court but grew agitated from boredom and traveled to search for a more interesting job. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was summarily dismissed from his Salzburg job. Nevertheless, he decided to stay in the capital (Vienna), where he achieved much fame but little economic haven. Throughout his concluding years in the Capital, he composed many of his most famous works: symphonies, operas, and concertos. Final Period The conditions surrounding his death have been much the subject of much conjecture and mythology. He composed more than 600 works, many recognized as highpoints of symphonic, chamber, concertante, choral and operatic. He is among the most everlastingly popular of classical composers, and his impact is substantial on succeeding Western art music.  Register for free lifetime updates and revisions of this product at www.jamesguthrie.com

Viola Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018917 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6064793. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018917). Programme Notes: It is said that the darkest hour of the night comes just before the dawn. – Thomas Fuller Mornings are powerful and evocative moments. The chorus of birds, one species after another, unite in a wild and genuine polyphony while the dew and mist evaporate upon the rising of the sun, encouraging goosebumps and shivers from an open window, tempered or exhilarated by a cup of coffee. Have you ever actively witnessed the sun’s sultry and intense ascension from the cradle of the horizon? That is what this piece, Aubade, or Dawn Song, is about. An aubade is the twin of a night-time serenade; an aubade is a love song originating amongst the medieval Provençal troubadours, depicting the morning departure between two lovers. An aubade is a song in honor of the slow cosmic percolation of a late summer morning. On a personal level, the composer is reminded of his own experiences camping in Northern Canada as a young man–a simpler and less demanding time. This piece formally begins the series I composed during the Covid-19 quarantine conditions of 2020, to serve as potential contemporary preludes for each of Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies–his two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was this year!–though they can all stand on their own on any program. The connection, in this case, is with his first symphony; I envisioned, once my piece concludes, his beautiful drawn-out chords presenting themselves–the dawn of his special genius.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Cello and organ - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q11388 Danses sacrées. Composed by Enjott Schneider. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 12 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q11388. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q11388). The 'Song of Songs' or 'Song of Solomon' addressed to Sulamith and ascribed to Solomon is one of the most mysterious texts of the Bible. If the character of Solomon itself is enigmatic, the character of the 'bride' is even more enigmatic. Saint Augustine and many other exegetes regarded this brilliant fireworks of the senses as an allegory of the mystic union of the soul with God while others recognized Arabian wedding rites or, in terms of cult and mythology, the union of the old deities Ishtar and Tammuz. The Gospel according to St. John draws many parallels to Maria Magdalena and the resurrection of Christ. One of the latest interpretations can be found in Paul Celan's poem 'Death Fugue' in which Sulamith embodies the prototype of the Jewish victim. All these mysterious facets are incorporated in the form of the 'Danse sacrée' in which the physicality of dancing seems to be contradictory to an existential content. An impressive composition for violoncello and piano.

Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797493 Composed by Carol Wood. Celtic,Halloween,Holiday,New Age,Spiritual. Score. 22 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4886961. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797493).  While all eight of these Celtic holidays may not be truly ancient, several of them certainly are; some, like Samhain, have had Christianizing veils cast over them but have kept many of the pre-Christian customs associated with their celebration. Interested harpists will find a wealth of available information about these holidays, their names, and their customs. Imbolc, February 1st or 2nd, is also the Feast of St. Bridget or Brigid and is associated with the ancient goddess of that name in Celtic mythology.Ostara is the name sometimes given to the neo-Celtic celebration of the Spring Equinox. This piece depicts the dawn of the day and of the year. Beltaine, the joyous celebration of spring’s warmth and wealth of flowers and new greenery, occurs on the first day of May. The longest day of the year and the shortest night mark the Summer Solstice-Midsummer. Since long before Shakespeare’s funny and lyrical play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Summer Solstice has been associated with magic.Lughnasadh, on August 1st, is the festival of the first harvest. A version of the name of this festival survives in Manx and Scots Gaelic as well as in Irish Gaelic, and the name itself derives from Lugh, one of the most important Celtic godsMabon marks the Autumn Equinox and the end of summer; for me, it is a wistful moment of the year-extremely beautiful yet transitory. Samhain is one of the most significant celebrations in the Celtic year- the word itself means the end of summer, the beginning of the dark part of the year. It survives even in non-Celtic countries as Halloween, thanks to its adoption into the Christian calendar as All Hallows’ Eve. It is said to be the  time when the veils between this world and the next are at their most thin. The Winter Solstice is marked in many European cultures as a time for celebrating the birth of the new light and a time for decorating with evergreens like holly. For The Holly King, modal and traditional versions of the carol The Holly and the Ivy, were used because of the lyrics’ references to the rising of the sun, and the running of the deer.

Violin Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018956 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078707. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018956). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  â€ƒThe second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Piano - Digital Download SKU: BQ.979-0-50179-711-0 Composed by John Mitchell. This edition: softcover. Bisel New Classics. Score. With Text Language: English / German. Opus 105. 32 pages. Published by Bisel Classics - Digital (BQ.979-0-50179-711-0). ISBN 9790501797110.The Sonata No. 4 Op. 105, composed in 2001, presents itself as another work of the series of sonatas that was created by the Californian composer John Mitchell following programmatic principles. The composition with two contrasting movements tells the story of the star Alcyone, the brightest star of the open star cluster of the Pleiades. In Greek mythology Alcyone is remembered as the leader of her sisters, the nymphs and daughters of Atlas and Pleione, and similarly the Arabic etymology of the name (''queen, who defies the evil storm'') tells a tale of might and sovereignty. Astrologically the constellation is assigned to Taurus. Contrasting and opposing both in mood and metrics, Mitchell gave a musical shape to this mighty stellar energy, with a soaring and joyous first movement followed by a second movement that is slow and even reverent with a subdued ending. The intensity of the work will keep your interest from the first note through the last! This is originally a piece composed for concert band and Benjamin Lau has created a fitting adaptation for brass band. The upper woodwinds have been replaced by the cornet section and the saxes replaced by the horn section. Finally, the lower woodwinds replaced by the baritones, euphoniums and basses. Percussion parts have been reduced to fit the standard amount for a brass band as well as giving an opportunity to showcase the brass players more.
