SATB choir, keyboard - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.50-6038-E Composed by Diane McAninch. Advent, Easter Season, Lent, Thanksgiving. 9 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #50-6038-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.50-6038-E). A gently flowing piece. Joy F. Patterson's original text recognizes a loving God and our humble relationship with that God. The moderate vocal ranges and constantly moving eighth-note accompaniment enhance the metaphor of rivers in the desert and lend a peaceful assurance to listeners' ears. Choirs will find the harmonies interesting and easily learned. A good anthem for Thanksgiving, for those Sundays in Advent and Lent with desert themes, or a times when we are in need of the assurance of God's loving presence.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1438470 By Graham Hamilton. By Graham Hamilton. 21st Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Medieval. 93 pages. Hambone Music #1018489. Published by Hambone Music (A0.1438470). A beautiful slow melody in 4/4 followed by a rousing 6/4 trek with fanfares then returning to the slow melody in 4/4. Not overly difficult but players should be around Grade 5 (ABRSM) and intermediate level concert bands, school bands and symphonic wind ensembles should manage it easily. Inspired by an old ruined church in my town called the 'Cross Kirk' during the times of the Cromwellian invasion of Scotland.Part 1 It is around the year 1650. A novice monk awakes from his slumber to the echoes of prayers and holy chanting coming through the cloisters. After he rises, he readies the oxen for a trek down the St. Andrews Road to the nearby satellite site of the priory - the site of the modern day St Andrew's cemetery.Part 2  It is an arduous trek over a muddy, rocky, unprepared track with heavy carts, with oxen straining to pull the load. They stop for a breather (3:09) and the impressive vistas are observed and the flag at 'Auld Neidpath' is just visible, reflected in the noble theme between the arduous oxen trekking theme.Part 3 The caravan starts to speed up; the oxen being startled by the sounds of fanfare trumpets coming from behind - a brave group of knights have broken through English lines and speed towards Neidpath to reinforce the besieged occupants. As they pass the wagon train, the fanfares get louder until the party reach the head of the train where the lead Knight halts to show piety to the Hieromonk who blesses him and his knights. The novice looks on awe-inspired at the brave knights, with noble faces, resplendent in shining armour, with banners flapping in the wind.  No time to stop! The knights remount and continue on, the fanfares trailing off into the distance. The wagon train slows down having reached its destination.Part 4  The novice is back at the priory, reflecting on seeing knights for the first time (receiving their blessing); their nobility and bravery impressed upon him and retires to his cell for the evening, the evening prayers and chants again echoing through the cloisters . As he closes his eyes, his mind returns to the knights and a smile crosses his face as he gently drifts off to sleep, as the final bell of the day tolls.

Brass Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1489523 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Film/TV. 31 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #1066386. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1489523). Dimension Traveler, Op. 150, for brass quintet was completed 26 Mar 2024.  When I wrote the first few distinctive notes into the computer, my ten-year-old son said that it sounded “futuristic.”  Somehow that sparked memories of a novel I had started years ago, titled “Dimension Traveler,” based on dimensional theories I had developed.  With that fresh inspiration in mind, the piece wrote itself with opening movie credits in mind. The form is thematically palindromic, the center point being m. 77.  The beginning to rehearsal letter A mirrors K to the end; A to B is parallel to J-K; B-C = I-J; C-D = H-I; D-E = G-H; and the central thematic sections E-F = F-G.  Concerning that central turning point, the thematic material shifts from the trumpets’ first statement at letter E to low brass with the trumpets taking on the pointillistic accompaniment at letter F.  Of interest is the parallel of C-D and H-I wherein the motivic material, including dynamics, is quite literally reversed note for note to a climax. For aural aesthetics in performance, there is an optional cut from letter K to m. 142.  Thematically, the structure remains chiastic, but taking the cut simply truncates the end for a motivic flavor rather than repeating the entire opening entrée.  There is nothing wrong with purists performing the work in its entirety—it is simply a matter of taste among the performing ensemble members.Stylistically, this piece strays far from my typical compositions.  Besides the pervasive echoing eighth-note motifs, the key never changes, and there is no chromaticism.  Inspired in that regard by the masterpiece “Quintet” by Michael Kamen, the diatonicism often flows in planed clusters mildly influenced by the choral works of Eric Whitacre.  Another deviation from my well-established compositional habits is the instrumentation including bass trombone instead of tuba.  Of course the part can be played by a tubist, though the bass trombone meshes more seamlessly with the timbres of the other instruments in passing along the pervasively echoing eighth-notes.The individual brass parts appear deceptively simple, and indeed, they are not technically demanding besides a couple high notes in the trumpets.  However, putting this piece together in an ensemble setting is rhythmically treacherous! The four-minute final product indeed sounds like it could be the opening to an epic movie of the same title, based on the novel-in-progress.

Organ and optional trumpet - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.10-685-1E Composed by Jerry Westenkuehler. Instrument parts. 9 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #10-685-1E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.10-685-1E). Three Festive Trumpet Tunes is a collection that may be used effectively in worship or recital. The three pieces are playable on organ alone or with trumpet and organ. The AMSTERDAM tune uses a recurring ritornello theme that is based on the opening melody of the hymn tune. The Trumpet Tune in D Major is an original composition and is written in a baroque rondo style. Following a joyous main theme, the center section has a whimsical dialogue between the organ and the trumpet. The WESTMINSTER ABBEY piece states the tune the first time in the organ and in the second statement the trumpet plays a more embellished version of the tune. Reproducible trumpet parts for both B-flat and C trumpets are included in the book.
