Small Ensemble Cello,Piano,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.905709 Composed by African-American Spiritual, Wallace Willis. Arranged by Brandon Haynes. Concert,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 10 pages. Brandon Haynes #4602675. Published by Brandon Haynes (A0.905709). Swing Low, Sweet Chariot is a spiritual associated with Choctaw freedman slave, Wallace Willis in the old Indian Territory in what is now Choctaw County, near the County seat of Hugo, Oklahoma sometime after 1865. It is believed that the sight of the Red River, by which the slave was laboring, reminded him of the Jordan River and of the prophet Elijah being taken to heaven by a chariot, a biblical reference found in 2 Kings 2:11. This arrangement is written for Medium Voice, piano accompaniment, and cello obbligato. It incorporates remnants of another spiritual, Over My Head the mixes well with the text of Swing Low. This arrangement also incorporates a new melody to create a bridge-like section for If you get there before I do.

Flute,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549224 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Holiday,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3468208. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549224). J. S. Bach BWV 508.  Bist du bei mir Bach adapted this aria from a lost Stölzel opera called Diomedes. He changed the original orchestral instrumentation to soprano, strings, and continuo.  He also modified the voice-leading making it sound more like a Bach composition. The work appears as BWV 508 No. 25 in the Anna Magdalena Notebook No. 2.   Source Only a few remnants of the original opera have survived. Historians speculate that Anna Magdalena got the song from the Leipzig Opera after the bankruptcy of 1720. Chances are good, though, that the tune was a favorite of everyone in Leipzig at the time.   Lyrics When thou art near, I go with joyTo death and to my rest.O how joyous would my end be,If your fair hands            Would close my faithful eyes. - Unknown Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy are the St. John Passion, and indeed the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival                Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Onboard are phonograph records with sounds, music, and images of life on Earth. The purpose of the launch was to inform intelligent extraterrestrial life forms about conditions on Earth. The music on the disc is varied. There is Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky among others. However, because Bach is so important in our music history, it contains three times more Bach than all the others combined.

Alto Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1038152 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Mary Ann W. Snowball. Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual. 9 pages. Kevin G. Pace #643083. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1038152). A beautiful, sacred vocal solo with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball. Text: In God’s holy presence I will yet abide. As I show a pure heart, He will be my Guide. Praying daily through his Son whisperings arise, Promising a future day when I will view his eyes. In God’s holy presence, at his throne of grace, I will look upon Him, gazing at his face. Knowing of my weaknesses He’ll help purge my heart. As I trust true covenants, we’ll never be apart. In God’s holy presence I will shed a tear, With his arms around me and his love so near. Giving all my gratitude for his precious plan, I will kneel in thankfulness for Father’s Son of Man. In God’s holy presence He will make me whole. He will claim his offspring as I give my soul. Knowing I am his blessed child grants me greater sight. As I offer all I have, He’ll be my heavn’ly light.

Orchestra - Grade 4 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.OMS142 Composed by Jeff Frost. Score and Parts. 46 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #OMS142. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.OMS142). 9 x 12 in inches. The Keweenaw Peninsula is located in the northwestern part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is surrounded by Lake Superior on the west, north and east sides. From the late 1800's through the early 1960's copper was mined there. There are still remnants of multiple mines and hoists scattered about the hilly country side. This area can get around 180 of snow each year and winters can be long yet beautiful. There are waterfalls scattered in the hilly country side that are quite beautiful in the spring and summer.I attended Michigan Technological University from 2002-2006 which is located in Houghton, Michigan. Houghton is called the Gateway to the Keweenaw. I composed this piece to paint a picture of the Keweenaw with its waterfalls, hilly country, the sun rising and setting over Lake Superior, and the winter splendor. Because many people on the Keweenaw Peninsula are of Finnish descent, I incorporated the Finnish National Anthem into the melodic material.

Snowball.Text:Remember Compassion“ . . . wherefore, I will have compassion upon you.” (Doctrine and Covenants 64:2)Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed,My lasting compassion will I always prove.Unlike sheep without shepherds who lose track on their way,My voice will be heard whenever you pray.Chorus:Remember compassion; remember I’m here.I will be near you; oh, please do not fear!Remember compassion when others you see.Proffer as I would, then come unto Me.When all evil is tempting and the sun bears its heat,My springs of cool water will be at your feet.I will comfort my people through my cov’nant of care,Through hunger or thirst, my cup’s never bare.Through each trouble and heartache; through each burden so great,Through each lone transgression will I share the weight.I will ease all your suff’ring as you search for my face.My presence is near; I’ll give you my grace.
