Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1130495

Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by Hugh Levey. Chamber,Classical,Halloween,Holiday,Romantic Period. 53 pages. Woodwindly.com #730809. Published by woodwindly.com (A0.1130495).

Wind Quintet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, Bassoon)

This wind quintet version of Schubert's Erl-King is equally at home as a standard recital piece or used as a piece of ghostly music at Halloween.

Erlkönig (The Erl-King) is a dramatic poem by the famous German writer and poet, Goethe, written in 1782. Although it has been set to music by many composers, the most well-known is the 1815 setting by Franz Schubert for voice and piano.

The Erl-King is a challenging work for the singer because they must portray four distinct characters; narrator, father, son and the Erlkönig himself. Schubert's writing is different for each character in terms of pitch, harmony, rhythm, key (major and/or minor), and melodic shape. Singers usually alter the timbre of their voice to emphasise the different roles. In this arrangement for wind quintet, the arranger takes the timbre differences a step further by assigning the characters to different instruments in the quintet. The flute plays the role of narrator, the clarinet is the anxious son, the horn plays the reassuring ( but then worried) father, and the oboe plays the Erlkönig with his beautiful enticing melodies that try to lead the boy astray. The bassoon plays the rumbling and troubling bass line that helps set the mood.

This lovely, lyrical song about London UK, is arranged for solo voice, TTB and piano. The song is 4'40 and is a great opportunity for a male voice choir to provide the backing vocals for a soloist, which provides variety in any programme.
Waterloo Sunset is a song by British rock band the Kinks. It was released as a single in 1967, and featured on their album Something Else . Composed and produced by Kinks frontman Ray Davies, the song tells the story of a lone narrator imagining two lovers passing over a bridge with the narrator reflecting on the couple.

Picc. (G tr). 3 Fl. Afl. Bfl. (Cafl). (Cbfl). Cbfl in G). (Dbl Cbfl). - Easy - Intermediate - Digital Download

SKU: F2.FM600

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Robert Rainford. A great piece for introducing the full flute choir to audiences. Score and parts. 53 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM600. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM600).

ISBN 9790570484997.

This piece has been created to give the flute choir a chance to introduce the entire flute family to the audience in a lighthearted, fun way. At each 'vamp' section, while the flutes continue to play the ostinato pattern the narrator (this can be the conductor or a dedicated narrator) can talk to the audience about the flute that is about to play the next 'verse' of the tune. The style of the narration can be varied depending on the nature of the situation. It may be possible to hold up the various flutes next to each other to give the audience an idea of the comparative sizes of the various instruments. You could also talk about relative pitches of each member of the flute family, their development, some repertoire (both solo and orchestral), and about the development of the flute choir as an ensemble. This piece is performable with the minimum forces of piccolo, 3 flutes, alto flute and bass flute. The sections featuring the other, rarer member of the flute family can be omitted by cutting from the end of any vamp bar to the letter where the next available solo instrument takes the tune. Following the entry of the last solo instrument (the piccolo) there are two sections for the full flute choir. One also features some hidden flute 'lollipops' that you may or may not want to draw the audiences attention to, and the final section is a jazzy finale with the option of swinging the quavers. Above all, this arrangement was produced to be usable. Please feel free to adapt it in any way you like to help us introduce audiences to the great sound of the flute choir!

SKU: A0.533397

Composed by Therese Brenet. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and part. 30 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2894443. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533397).

A sonata in three movements for flute and piano:

I. Ephémère
II. La lune s'éteignit
III. Miroirs

The sonata lasts aproximately 13 minutes.

Thérèse BRENET, born 22 October 1935 in Paris, France began her musical studies at a very early age, receiving her first prize in Piano from the Conservatoire de Reims.

At the Paris Conservatory, her prinicipal teachers were Jean Rivier, Darius Milhaud, Maurice Duruflé, Noël Gallon and Henri Dutilleux and she obtained First Prizes in Harmony, Counterpoint, and Fugue. She finished her studies in 1965, receiving a First Prize in Orchestration, A First Prize with highest honors in Composition and the First Grand Prix de Rome in musical composition.

She also won the Halphen Prize for Composition and the Fugue, a grant from the Coplay Foundation of Chigaco and was named honorable member of the National Academy of History of Reims. In 1971, she received the Stéphane Chapelier-Clergue-Gabriel Marie Prize from the SACEM and in 1973, the Silver Medal from the City of Paris.

After her stay at the French Academy at the Villa Médicis in Rome, Thérèse Brenet undertook several post-graduate voyages for study, notably to Poland. Upon her return in Paris in 1970, she was immediately named to the Faculty of the Paris Conservatory (CNSMD de Paris) where she also was frequently part of the juries for music theory and composition, as well as electroacoustical music.

Thérèse Brenet receiving her definitive SACEM membership from Georges Auric She retired from the Paris Conservatory in 2000 and has since devoted her time to musical composition. She uses both tonal and atonal musical language, which she uses to suit her personal style. Her works are strongly influenced by literature, by painting and by science (especially astronomy). She believes that a composer should use all technical means at his or her disposal and use them rather than be used by them.

Her first commission from the French National Radio, Clamavit, for Narrator, Chorus and Orchestra which was premièred by the Orchestre Lyrique de l'O.R.T.F., under the direction of André Girard, with Michel Bouquet as the Narrator, was selected to represent France in the Composer's Forum of 'U.N.E.S.C.O., and was performed in many countries. Many other works have also been performed outside of France in countries such as Switzerland, England, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, the former Yugoslavia, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Libya, Canada, Uruguay, Japan and the United States etc...

SKU: C7.CGB486

Composed by Allen Pote and Martha Lynn Thompson. General, Holy Communion, Lent. With 3, 4, 5, or 6 octaves handchimes, Narrator. Score. 8 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB486. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB486).

This flexible arrangement of a choral anthem by Allen Pote (CGA532) will stand alone as a handbell piece. It may also substitute for keyboard as accompaniment to the anthem (sung by SATB choir, vocal solo or duet.) If voices are not available, an optional narrator's part provides the meaningful text. The haunting melody with its broken-chord accompaniment is suitable for worship or concert and is especially suitable for use during communion.

Hilarious suggestions are included for costumes, props, corny skits and jokes as each section represents a group of animals in the barnyard playing familiar tunes. Turn the students and parents loose on this one! Great for introducing the instruments at recruiting demonstrations or featuring your principal or superintendent as narrator.

This crazy-like-a-fox piece includes: Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, William Tell Overture, Rock-A-Doodle-Doo, Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, The Chicken Dance, Turkey in the Straw, Baa, Baa Swing Sheep, Funky Bass, Old McDonald Had a Farm and Bonaparte's Retreat.
