Treble recorder and basso continuo - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q562329 La Lumague. Composed by Michel Blavet. Baroque music for Recorder. Downloadable, Piano reduction with solo part. Op. 2/4. Musikverlag Robert Lienau - Digital #Q562329. Published by Musikverlag Robert Lienau - Digital (S9.Q562329). German • English • French.Michel Blavet (1700-1768) was a very famous and popular musician in his lifetime. Although he was an autodidact on many instruments, his main instrument was the flute traversière which he played left-handed. His compositions mix both Italian and French styles. Formally, his sonatas are suites and often have programmatic titles. The sonata op. 2 No. 4 is also called La Lumague“. Marie de Lumague (1599–1657) founded the Caritas movement in France during the reign of Louis XIII. It is assumed that both this woman and her work inspired Blavet to write this beautiful sonata.

Flute and guitar - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q18952 Composed by Johann Adolph Hasse. Arranged by Siegfried Schwab. This edition: score and part. Downloadable, Score and part. Schott Music - Digital #Q18952. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q18952). Key: G major.Johann Adolph Hasse (1699-1783) is gradually rediscovered as master of the late Baroque era. Among his works are numerous sonatas and concertos for flute which, probably inspired by his friendship with Quantz and his relationship with Frederick the Great, play a special role. These also include the present Sonata for flauto traverse and basso continuo in an arrangement for flute and guitar. In the guitar part, the adaptation of the sonata for this instrumentation focuses on the fully notated bass line. Other – guitar-specific – embellishments such as chord vines, imitations, etc. stand back in favour of the leading bass line.

Small Ensemble Cello,Harpsichord,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890772 Composed by Martino Bitti. Arranged by Sneakwood Editions. Baroque. Score and parts. 16 pages. Sneakwood Editions #5321911. Published by Sneakwood Editions (A0.890772). Martino Bitti – Dresden Sonata for violin and continuo N.6 in A major (Sinfonia)Anton Domenico Gabbiani – Portrait of Three Musicians of the Medici Court (The violinist is Martino Bitti)Martino Bitti is one of the great virtuosos of the past who has fallen into oblivion. Few know his work today. However, a look at the works he has left us and his life as a musician reveals a great virtuoso who deserves to be rediscovered. The relatively recent work done by Professor Talbot in his work: A Thematic Catalogue of the Instrumental Music of Martino Bitti (1655/6–1743) [ Michael Talbot (2015) A Thematic Catalogue of the Instrumental Music of Martino Bitti (1655/6–1743), Royal Musical Association Research Chronicle, 46:1, 46-94, DOI: 10.1080/14723808.2014.986256] has brought to light some of Bitti’s most interesting compositions. This is the case of this Sinfonia, listed as anonymous until that moment in the archives of the Sächsische Landesbibliothek – Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden (SLUB).The only copy of this work is in the SLUB, as part of the Pisendel collection (Schrank II), the manuscript Mus. 2-R-8, 102, entirely copied by Pisendel. It is very probable that Pisendel copied the sonata during his trip to Italy and his passage through Florence in 1717, where he would meet the crème de la crème of the Florentine violinists: Fanfani and Bitti. Pisendel kept in his collection nine sonatas by Martino Bitti.Bitti’s virtuosity is noted in this work. The large number of double stops and their use in the complex counterpoint of the second movement demand a high technical mastery from the performer.

Harpsichord,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1488837 Composed by Joseph Martin Kraus. Arranged by Bertil van Boer. Classical. 27 pages. Artaria Editions #1065691. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1488837). Artaria Editions AE432Joseph Martin Kraus was one of the most gifted and unusual composers of the 18th century, whose talent for thematic development, colourful orchestration and theatrical flair caused Haydn to proclaim him one of only two 'geniuses' he knew (Mozart being the other one). Although Kraus's focus as a composer was mainly upon works written for the stage, he had occasion and opportunity to write a variety of works for chamber setting, including four sonatas for violin and fortepiano, and this work in D minor, was written in 1777 expressly for violin and clavicembalo, representing a different sort of piece than the more common duo sonata. It is not known for whom the work was written, but the extensive virtuosity makes it likely that it was intended either for Kraus himself or his brother Franz (1760-1790), an exceptional talent on the violin. The two-movement format is similar to Kraus's early string quartets (VB 178; Artaria Editions AE418), though in this case, the extensive sonata form first movement is followed by a through-composed one consisting of a slow pastorale (replete with bass drone in the violin) and an exotic faster section that includes material from the first movement. What makes this work interesting is the use of scordatura; the G string is to be tuned down to F, which makes it more useful from a harmonic standpoint in that the note can be used in the tonic, relative major, and all dominant-subdominant keys. The Basso part is completely figured—for this edition it has been realized by the editor - but given that Kraus specifically mentions only the keyboard instrument (clavicembalo), it is unlikely that it was performed as a continuo, i.e. with additional violoncello/contrabass, but rather was intended for harpsichord alone.Allan Badley.

Descant recorder (flute/oboe/violin) and basso continuo - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q778820 Composed by Diogenio Bigaglia. Downloadable. Musikverlag Robert Lienau - Digital #Q778820. Published by Musikverlag Robert Lienau - Digital (S9.Q778820). Key: C major. German • English • French.Diogenio Bigaglia (approx. 1676-1745) does not only share similar biographical data with Vivaldi (who was two years his junior), but he also came from Venice and was a musician and member of the clergy. After joining the order of St. Benedict in 1694, Bigaglia spent his life in the monastery of S. Giorgio Maggiore and even became the monastery's prior in later years. The major part of his religious works has been lost; but we do know that their performance had not been restricted to Venice alone and there is reason to assume that his secular music met with the same widespread popularity. This new edition now presents yet another of Bigaglia's sonatas which has so far been neglected and is now available in print for the first time. The manuscript source is part of a volume which contains copies of further Soli, one of them being a violin sonata by Vivaldi which had been neglected for quite some time. Bigaglia's sonata is especially suited for soprano recorder but can also be performed by other instruments.

Instrumental Duet Bassoon,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811695 Composed by Michel Blavet (1700 - 1768). Arranged by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 20 pages. Piper Publications #3916821. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811695). This sonata ‘Pour deux Flutes transversieres sans Basse’ is the third of a set of six published by Boivin in Paris in 1728 as Blavet’s ‘Premier Oeuvre’. They were dedicated ‘a Son Altesse Serenissime Monsieigneur LE PRINCE DE CARIGNAN Par Mr. Blavet ordinaire de la musique de S. A. S.’ on the suitably elaborate title page. The sonatas were printed using the soprano G clef which places the G on the bottom line of the treble staff, a practice which was not uncommon at the time. Blavet was not only the best flautist in France but also an extremely good bassoon player so would have found this clef easier to read from as he was not a keyboard player. The bass clef has been used for this edition. The sonata is suitable for players of intermediate standard and above. There are movements Adagio, Allegro, Larghetto. Allegro & Gavotta.
