The six quartets for flute, violin, viola and cello were probably composed in Naples in about 1800. This Sonata is an arrangement of the first quartet for flute and piano. The first five quartets each have two movements, the sixth having only one. They are all engaging and enjoyable to play and listen to as might be expected from a composer whose operas in his life time were more popular than those of a certain W. A. Mozart.

Players of intermediate standard and above will enjoy playing this tuneful operatic style piece.

The editing has been lightly done and all editings are shown in Parentheses ( ) or dashed lines. Obvious small errors have been corrected without comment.

Sonata No. 2 for Trombone and Piano was written for American trombonist Peter Ellefson. This second edition of the work contains four movements. The first movement, marked Andante con moto, starts in A-flat major with flowing themes, then a development in G# minor, and an ebullient recap. The second movement is marked Lento con affeto, in D-flat major, with a beautiful, plaintive trombone melody framed by a sparse but enveloping piano. The third movement is a spirited waltz in A-flat, weaving two lyrical themes among modes and keys. The final movement (Allegro) shifts to a bold F minor main theme that is developed throughout, leading to a joyous F major conclusion. This is an outstanding recital work for serious players. Individual movements are perfect for use in contests. Difficulty level is advanced. Total performance time is 21:50. Member, ASCAP.

They were dedicated ‘a Son Altesse Serenissime Monsieigneur LE PRINCE DE CARIGNAN Par Mr. Blavet ordinaire de la musique de S. A. S.’ on the suitably elaborate title page. There are 5 movements, Adagio, Allegro. Larghetto, Allegro & Gavotta - Presto. The flute parts are equal and independent suitable for players of intermediate standard. Pierre Phalèse (1510-1575) was a Flemish publisher and his First Book of Dances, an extensive collection of dances in four parts, was published in Leuven in 1571. They are attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the gaillarde (or galliard) was a popular dance and a favorite of Queen Elizabeth I of England. This is the 15th dance in a set of 20 gaillardes in the original publication. This arrangement is scored for virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments with optional percussion and keyboard parts.

The flexible arrangement makes them playable by non-standard ensembles. The optional keyboard part enables you to use the piece as a solo or duet and trio for mixed instruments. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option.

The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and two players are required. Other percussion instruments may be added as desired. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.

The Divertimento, originally for an orchestra (flute, oboe, bassoon, 4 horns and strings) was completed in June 1772 in Salzburg.  It was probably written for an outdoor performance and Mozart certainly made full use of the opportunity to display his remarkable talents both to his prospective patrons and his talented fellow musicians who would have performed this extensive six movement piece.

There are six movements, Allegro, a substantial sonata form piece; Adagio, a  sophisticated piece written for strings only; a gem of a Menuetto with three trios; Allegretto; a Menuetto with 2 trios and a final Adagio - Allegro molto - Allegro assai forms the grand finale. The scale and sophistication of this piece is far beyond that of the early symphonies which Mozart composed around the same time.

The arrangement is suitable for advanced and advanced intermediate players.

In editing and arranging the Divertimento for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn it has been necessary to add phrase marks (shown in dashed lines) and extra staccato dots - not indicated. The lack of dynamic markings especially in the latter movements has been remedied in parentheses ( ). Some octave transpositions both up and down have been necessary and the glory of the four horn sections of the original have been re-scored as sympathetically as I am able.

I do hope that quintet players will enjoy this arrangement of a very remarkable piece.

The Requiem in D minor, K. 626, is a requiem mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791). Mozart composed part of the Requiem in Vienna in late 1791, but it was unfinished at his death on 5 December the same year. A completed version dated 1792 by Franz Xaver Süssmayr was delivered to Count Franz von Walsegg, who commissioned the piece for a requiem service on 14 February 1792 to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of his wife Anna at the age of 20 on 14 February 1791. This is no 4 of the Sequenz Recordare

At 130 measures, the Recordare (Remember) is the work's longest movement, as well as the first in triple meter the movement is a setting of no fewer than seven stanzas of the Dies irae. The form of this piece is somewhat similar to sonata form, with an exposition around two themes (mm. 1–37), a development of two themes (mm. 38–92) and a recapitulation (mm. 93–98). It suits the wind quintet.

Section III of the requiem is titled “Sequenz� (sequentia or sequence). It is made up of the following pieces I have arrangements of all of them, for varying types of ensemble * Dies irae * Tuba mirum * Rex tremendae * Recordare * Confutatis * Lacrymosa. I have also arranged Mozarts Motet “Ave Verum Corpus� K618.
