Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.1022031 Composed by Fredrik Schwenk. Contemporary. Score. 22 pages. Fredrik Schwenk #6303809. Published by Fredrik Schwenk (A0.1022031). The seven-part cycle for solo piano was composed on the occasion of the birth of the son of violinist Anna and pianist Andreas Skouras. Inspired by a seminar on Robert Schumann held together with Beatrix Borchard, the composition was written in the second week of January 2012 in Hamburg. Although the titles, with one humorous deviation, are all taken from Schumann's famous piano cycle, the pieces make no direct reference to it musically except in terms of their concise scale. Nevertheless, they reflect the type of Romantic character piece without formally imitating it or thematically quoting it. The final piece reflects the nightly ritual of falling asleep, using elements from the slow movement of Joseph Haydn's 101st Symphony in D major Hob/I-101, with the allegorical title the clock.
