SKU: A0.1247385

Composed by Dominic Irving. 21st Century,Chamber,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Jazz. Individual part. 28 pages. Masquerade Music #842020. Published by Masquerade Music (A0.1247385).

New for 2023 this delightful new recorder sonata by Dominic Irving (UK) is a real treat and a refreshing addition to recorder repertoire worldwide. The first two movements are performed on treble recorder (with piano accompaniment) and in the final movement the descant recorder takes centre stage. This exciting new Sonata is guaranteed to delight audiences and is therefore a great addition to any concert programme. The Sonata is aimed at advanced players (Grade 7 or 8+)

The outer movements are extremely playful (movement one has a style guide of 'perky' and movement three 'fast and joyful') and the melodies are guaranteed to stick in your head for days! The middle movement is required to be delivered 'with great sorrow' and is a beautiful contract to the outer movements and enables the soloist to really display their expressive qualities.

The Sonata is full of exquisite harmony with influences from many genres and was written by Dominic Irving (UK) - see more information about Dominic below and do check out his website here;

You can hear all three movements of the Sonata in their entirety (with plenty of sheet music samples) here on Youtube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yA6-z3UqEn8

Composed by Anon. Arranged by Douglas Brooks-Davies. Christmas,Classical. Recorder Ensemble. 47 pages. Douglas Brooks-Davies #3861389. Published by Douglas Brooks-Davies (A0.898100).

Five Christmas Carols from the 7th to 16th centuries, arranged for sopranino, descant, treble, tenor, bass and great bass recorders. These atmospheric new arrangements are ideal for any Christmas or pre-Christmas concert, and especially for church performance. The five carols are: Resonet in laudibus (Let the voice of praise resound); There is no rose of swych vertu; Nova! nova! (News! news!); As I rode out this enderes [the other] night; Conditor alme siderum (Creator of the starry height). In each case the original setting is followed by increasingly full harmonies, the sopranino being used as a virtuoso decorative obbligato instrument (for example, providing birdlike sounds in #4, to illustrate the refrain 'so merrily the shepherds their pipes can blow'). Total duration: 7 minutes.

Greensleeves is a traditional English folk song. A broadside ballad by the name A Newe Northen Dittye of ye Ladye Greene Sleves was registered by Richard Jones at the London Stationer's Company in September 1580, and the tune is found in several late-16th-century and early-17th-century sources, such as Ballet's MS Lute Book and Het Luitboek van Thysius, as well as various manuscripts preserved in the Seeley Historical Library in the University of Cambridge.

Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Classical,Folk,March,Opera,Romantic Period. Recorder Ensemble. 8 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #747104. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1146905).

This arrangement adapted for low recorder trio was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. The transcription remains faithful to the structure, with only one change in tone, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as being used as an activity in ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions. Beethoven's Turkish March (Op. 113) is the 4th movement of the operatic work: The Ruins of Athens, a set of incidental pieces written in 1812 by Ludwig van Beethoven, where the melody was originally written in 1809 as Theme with Six Variations for Piano, Op. 76. The work was written to accompany the play of the same name by August von Kotzebue, for the dedication of a new theater in Pest. Perhaps the best known part of the composition is the Marcia alla turca, In Latin America, this movement became known in Jean-Jacques Perrey's version (who titled it The Elephant never Forgets) since it was used as the opening theme of the successful Mexican TV comedy El Chavo del Ocho. The opening and the turkish march are often performed separately, and the other pieces in this set are not often heard.
