We walked through fields and forests, We’d hit the trail in sun and wind and rain When I was at my lowest, you licked my hand and raised me up again But time passed much too quickly, and you know just what you did You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge. I’m not sure what heaven’s like , I’m not sure how things will be But if we won’t be together, it won’t feel like heaven to me But if the Lord be willing, I’ll hear your welcome bark again, And see you running to me, through the golden fields of grain Most faithful of companions, you’d been with me in sickness and in health You always loved to see me, even when I couldn’t really love myself And when you licked my hand that one last time Then you know just what you did You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridgeYou took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge.www.sites.google.com/site/davidwkaismusic

Large Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Drum Set,Guitar,High Voice,Low Voice,Piano,Xylophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1013064 Composed by Christine Southworth. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 61 pages. Airplane Ears Music #5802121. Published by Airplane Ears Music (A0.1013064). Zap! (2005, 45 minutes) for Van de Graaff Generator, Lyricon, voices, guitar, cello, bass, percussion, piano, robotic xylophone and electronics. The sound of electricity at its rawest and most majestic - sparks, booms, lightning bolts, sizzling corona and low hums from giant motors - intermingle with the sounds of cello, bass, guitar, piano, clarinets, percussion and voice. Christine Southworth created Zap! in 2004 to explore these possibilities, using the Boston Museum of Science's Theater of Electricity as her venue and instrument. Its centerpiece - MIT Professor Robert Van de Graaff's eponymous Generator, was born in 1931 as one of the world's largest atom smashers. It is still the largest of its kind in the world, standing forty-feet tall and producing up to 1.5 million volts of electricity. Zap!, a composition in seven parts, takes the sounds of this machine, two large Tesla Coils, and a Jacob's Ladder, merged with rock rhythms and sweet melodies performed by Robert Black, David Cossin, Felix Fan, Philippa Thompson, Eddie Whalen, & Evan Ziporyn. The resulting music is ... electrifying!Premiered February 4, 2005 at Boston Museum of Science by Ensemble Robot, Jeff Lieberman (guitar), Blake Newman (bass), Sachi Sato (keyboard), Mei-mi Lin (keyboard), Akili Haynes (percussion, voice), Erik Nugent (Lyricon, voice), Rebecca Zook (cello), Christine Southworth (voice, Van de Graaff controls), Leila Hasan (Van de Graaff controls), Giles Hall (robot controls).About the ComposerChristine Southworth (b. 1978) is a composer and video artist based in Lexington, Massachusetts, dedicated to creating music born from a cross-pollination of sonic ideas. Inspired by intersections of technology and art, nature and machines, and musics from cultures around the world, her music employs sounds from man and nature, from Van de Graaff Generators to honeybees, Balinese gamelan to seismic data from volcanoes.  Website: www.kotekan.com

Brass quintet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMS164 Composed by Edward Taylor Paull. Arranged by Judith Katz. Score and Parts. 24 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMS164. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMS164). 9 x 12 in inches. While doing some research on pre-20th Century American composers, I came across the name of Edward Taylor Paull. In all of my years as a flutist, conductor, and now writer, I never heard of Paull before, but I was curious enough to look for any sound files of his music, and came across both live piano performances and piano roll performances of the Ben HurChariot Race March on YouTube.Edward Taylor Paul, known in some circles as The Other March King was born on February 16th, 1858. In Gerrardstown, Virginia, now West Virginia. While not too much is known about his early years, we do know that his adult years were spent as itinerant musician, instrument sales person, selling pianos and organs, composer, as well as publisher. The Civil War era had Patrick Sarsfield Gillmore as the most famous bandleader and composer. As children of this era, John Philip Sousa and Edward Taylor Paull, were destined to follow in Gillmore's footsteps. While Sousa became successful through his work as both conductor and composer, even attaining the moniker of March King, the road to success and fame was more difficult for Paull. We do know, that by 1878, he was the manager of a music store that sold pianos and organs, eventually going bankrupt, and having to be bailed out by his own father. By 1894, he was the manager of the Richmond Music Publishing Company, and this was the same year that he was issued his first copyright on the Ben Hur Chariot Race March This was originally written for piano, particularly, the parlour piano. This was to become one of many marches and parlour piano compositions by 'E.T, Paull. He may not have been the most skilled musician of his era, but he was wise enough to realize how popular marches became in 1880's and '90's.Paull's compositions were also associated with beautiful color covers. He was fortunate to live in Richmond, Virginia, and the lithography company of A. Hoen & Company, provided him the highest quality and richly-colored art work for his compositions. This company was unique, in that they used a five- color process, which added depth to the color. Thepopularity of marches, plus the great covers, both contributed to the 60,000 copies that the Ben Hur Chariot Race March sold in its first printing. Not bad, for a first composition.Paull found inspiration for his march from the novel Ben Hur, written and published by General Lew Wallace in 1880. Paull dedicated his composition to Wallace, who sold many copies of his book. Eventually, there was a stage play and three film renditions; one in 1907, 1925, and 1959. Some time in the 1920's, the Sousa Band recorded the Ben Hur Chariot Race March, and of course, the MGM, 1925 film version, helped in a renewed popularity of Paull's composition.Edward Taylor Paull died in 1924, and his wife retained the copyright, until it went into public domain. What remains today are a few music examples in the Library of Congress collection, as well as some 78's and piano rolls. While I did my research on this piece, I tried to find any applicable Sousa manuscripts of a possible arrangement, but I could not findany. I usually write for woodwinds, but in this case, I thought that a brass quintet would sound far better. I also chose a moderate tempo, so as not to lose some of the nuances of the original composition.

Piano,Viola - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004162 Composed by Matthew Scott Phillips. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 19 pages. Matthew Scott Phillips #6265019. Published by Matthew Scott Phillips (A0.1004162). While invaluable to the development of Western civilization, the Greek philosopher Socrates is believed by some scholars not to exist. According to this theory, he is not a living person, but a metaphor used to teach philosophical ideas to newcomers. Others point to extant evidence that Socrates was indeed real, and had his own inner circle of students.   This piece is a reflection on the verisimilitude of Socrates’s existence. It is a struggle with the question of whether so influential a figure can truly be imaginary and ultimately an arrival at the decision that his realness is not as important as his influence.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1041503 Composed by Gabrielle Felicita Chen. Contest,Festival,Folk,Holiday,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score. 9 pages. Gabrielle Felicita Chen #646246. Published by Gabrielle Felicita Chen (A0.1041503). “L’amore di Kebo Iwa†simply means ‘the Love of Kebo Iwa’ , which is inspired from Indonesian Balinese folk music. It is usually played by the instruments called Gamelan. Bali is an island in Indonesia rich with cultural traditions that are very much rooted in myths and legends. After understanding deeper of the legend of “Kebo Iwaâ€, I was so drawn to the character and the plot that I decided to tell the story in my piano composition. I was able to use different kinds of musical techniques to express different moods. One of them is to apply the Pentatonic ‘Balinese Pelog’ Scale in B flat Major, which represents the majority of the Gamelan sound that is usually transcribed into Western notations. Below is the synopsis the “L’amore di Kebo Iwaâ€. A Once upon a time, in Bali, there was a husband and a wife who dearly wanted to have a baby. They prayed to God for a very long time. Finally, God heard their prayers and blessed them with a baby boy. But there was something special about this baby boy: he was very big- a giant baby. They named him Kebo Iwa. Kebo Iwa grew up with a good heart and became a gentleman. He was a kind hearted giant; he protected the village dearly. One day, the King of Majapahit from Java wanted to conquer Bali. He had heard about Kebo Iwa and knew that his army would lose to Kebo Iwa. B Therefore, the King of Majapahit tricked Kebo Iwa. He invited Kebo Iwa to Java island, promising that he would arrange a wedding for Kebo Iwa to marry his daughter, the beautiful Majapahit princess. Kebo Iwa was so in love with the princess, so he happily travelled to Java island. C After he arrived in Java, the King of Majapahit asked a favour from Kebo Iwa to dig a well, with the reason for it being the dry season. Kebo Iwa then sincerely gave some help and started digging a big, giant well. D However, the King Majapahit never meant to deliver his promise to Kebo Iwa. Instead, the King Majapahit commanded the troops to cover the well with mud and boulders. But when Kebo Iwa realized, it was too late. He was already in the position that was far too deep below - at the bottom of the well. Kebo Iwa then cried loudly and sadly with a broken heart until his last breath. He was buried alive. Soon after that, the Majapahit troops attacked and conquered Bali. E At last, the well was covered and grew a hill of flowers. To this day, the Bali villagers still remember Kebo Iwa as their hero. To honor him, they erected a giant statue of Kebo Iwa in Gianyar, Bali, as a memorial.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.787250 Composed by Greg Bartholomew. Concert,Contemporary,Folk,Patriotic,Standards. Octavo. 16 pages. Burke & Bagley #49747. Published by Burke & Bagley (A0.787250). SONG OF THE MOUNTAINS is a setting for mixed (SSAATB) choir with piano accompaniment of text adapted from prose by American naturalist John Muir (1838-1914). Commissioned for the Combined Choirs of St. Joseph's School, Seattle, directed by Rick Boyle, who premiered the piece at Benaroya Hall's Nordstrom Recital Hall on May 6, 2004, in the second annual New Works New Hope concert for the benefit of Gilda's Club Seattle. The piece was revised in 2007 and the premiere of the revised score was given on November 16, 2007, by the Queens College Chorus, Cindy Bell conducting, at the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York. It was selected by the Portland Vocal Consort for their 2013 Best of the Northwest program. Duration ca. 6 minutes. Conductor Cindy Bell says, Driven by a refreshing text of American naturalist John Muir, Bartholomew has created an accessible work that flows easily through both key and meter changes, and features expressive, lyric melodies contrasted by exciting rhythmic drive. Song of the Mountains is almost cantata-like, or through-composed, in that each line of Muir's text receives equal and interesting interpretation. Occasional use of the triplet rhythm creates both a relaxing effect (grasses cease waving) and driving sense of forward motion (Vibrating!). Effective use of dynamics and interweaving of choral parts make for each section having a musical life of its own. Follow along in the score as you listen to a performance in this video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VVW1Ah6kqE  SONG OF THE MOUNTAINS  Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.  Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares drop off like autumn leaves. Here is calm so deep, grasses cease waving. Everything in wild nature fits into us, as if truly part and parent of us.  The sun shines not on us but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us, thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, Making them glide and sing. The trees wave and the flowers bloom in our bodies as in our souls, and every bird song, wind song, and tremendous storm song of the rocks in the heart of the mountain, is our song, our very own, and sings our love.

Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953621). One of the most powerful passages in scripture set to music! Good length for an anthem, interesting and idiomatic use of flute and harp, nice mix of beautiful melodic passages and crunchy bits!A Setting of Philippians 2:5-11 from New Revised Standard VersionFor SATB chorus, flute, and clàrsach (Scottish lever harp) or harp or pianoDuration approximately 5:00 The Letter of Paul to the Philippians 2:5-11 (NRSV)*Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death - even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. *New Revised Standard Version Bible, copyright © 1989 National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. Used by permission. All rights reserved.Composed by Adrienne Inglis in 2014 and premiered in 2014 in Austin, Texas, by the Westminster Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir, In Heaven and on Earth for SATB chorus, flute, and clàrsach, draws inspiration from the tune Love is the Cause of my Mourning from The Caledonian Pocket Companion Book 1, p. 27. The piece opens with the tune altered to G mixolydian mode. As the word exploited appears, a sinister-sounding E flat enters the harmony. Open octaves between soprano and bass show the emptying, followed by a shift to E phrygian mode with the word slave. Several dissonances emerge as the narrative gets darker. The flute and clàrsach represent chaos or hell with an aleatoric interlude of extended techniques involving tongue rams, flutter tonguing, multiphonics, spoken syllables, and lever glissandi. The harp then joyfully proclaims the new tonality of G major in a fanfare to introduce the text of praise and exaltation. The original source tune returns harmonically restored to G major.

Small Ensemble Harp,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799604 Composed by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 4 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #3417119. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799604). This short song was composed in 2012 during my doctoral coursework at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. It was written for tenor, but given its accessible range (Db4 to G5 in the original key), it would work well for lighter voices in many fachs, including light lyric sopranos, baritones, and mezzos. The text, translated from a poem by Takuboku Ishikawa (1886-1912), is gender-neutral. This would be a great introduction to new music for an undergraduate singer with strong aural skills and a still-light voice (since young dramatics might overpower the harp). If you'd like to talk about commissioning a transposed score, please get in touch! Transposition options will be a bit more limited with the harp than with the piano, but I'm sure we could make something work.Poem text (in English translation, as it appears in the score)Setting sun, Drifting clouds, New moon, Evening twilight, What do they matter to me?Composer biography:Nicole Elyse DiPaolo is a versatile composer, teacher, collaborative pianist, and music theorist currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. Currently a PhD candidate in music theory at Indiana University, she recently completed a doctoral minor in composition, having studied with Claude Baker, Don Freund, P. Q. Phan, and David Schneider. She also holds a B.Mus. from the University of Michigan, where she studied composition with Bright Sheng and piano with Louis Nagel. Nicole's music has been heard across the world: along with numerous performances in the Midwest, her commissioned song settings of Muscogee poet laureate Alexander Posey's texts have been performed at Shorter College (GA) and Lincoln University (PA), and the Smithsonian Institution procured copies of two of these (Nature's Blessings and A Vision) to archive at the National Museum of the American Indian. Additionally, Nicole's viola duo Three Episodes was featured at Ball State University's 40th Annual New Music Festival in February 2010. Her early compositions have been garnering interest as well: music students in Kenya performed several of Nicole's such pieces in May 2013 through a pedagogical project spearheaded by IU faculty member Kimberly Carballo. Nicole's music also received its Mexican premiere in October 2013 with a performance of her Divertimento, written for the International String Quartet of Yucatán. In 2014, Nicole published a set of twenty short pedagogical pieces in uncommon keys, entitled Venturing Beyond, available on SheetMusicPlus. Also a sought-after teacher and adjudicator, Nicole frequently judges regional and divisional MTNA composition competitions at all levels, ranging from elementary to college-level Young Artists, and she also served as the composition department chair at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in 2014.
