More Cowbell was inspired by the famous television skit featuring a rock band, a record producer, and an over-zealous cowbell player. If the cowbell player is good at hamming it up (and rocking out!), you could try the following staging suggestions: Cowbell player plays with intensity and lots of movement, and starts moving in measure 17 toward the front of the band, ending up next to the conductor in measure 24, bowing to the audience on beat 4. Conductor gives a stern look and gestures to student to get back in the percussion section (possibilities: slit throat gesture with side of first finger followed by pointing forcefully to the back, or similar gestures). Student slinks back, starts playing cowbell again, but quietly this time. Playing gradually picks up intensity, and player starts again toward the front in measure 41, reaching the front by measure 48. In measure 48, either A) Conductor waves hands violently for student to stop, or B) have a couple of students place a large blanket over the cowbell player. This works, but only for one measure (player quits and doesn't move in bar 49). Cowbell player resumes playing with a vengeance in measure 50 (either in spite of the teacher or under the blanket!). Make sure your new rock star takes another bow at the end of the piece. Have fun, and may your life always have More Cowbell! Correlated with Accent on Achievement, Book 1, page 27. Piano Trio,String Ensemble Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.733592

Composed by Peter Wilhousky. Arranged by Amy J. Snyder. Contemporary. Score and parts. 18 pages. Amy J. Snyder #4849941. Published by Amy J. Snyder (A0.733592).

Carol of the Bells is an all time favorite for the Christmas season! And here it is as a piano quartet, or ensemble! This arrangement is Early Intermediate level and may be played on 2, 3 or 4 pianos/keyboards with 8 hands. Parts 1 and 2 may share 1 piano, and parts 3 and 4 may share 1 piano. Some parts may be played with one hand. For a really interesting performance, use digital pianos or keyboards with other voices such as Bell Pad or Fantasia. The first 9 pages are the complete score, showing all four parts (for director). The next 8 pages are the individual parts, 2 pages each, for easier reading. There are two fermatas on the intro, which should be cued by the director. Notice that part 2 contains a few rests in parenthesis; if parts 1 and 2 are played on one piano, use the rests, because part 1 will play that note. Two separate pianos, hold for 3 counts. 8vas are used for easier reading of notes. Great piece for Winter recitals! Written by Peter J. Wilhousky, arranged by Amy J. Snyder.   Copyright © 1936 by Carl Fischer, Inc., New York, NY Copyright Renewed International Copyright Secured All Rights Reserved Used by Permission. String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1074907

Composed by Joshua A. Idio. 20th Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,Standards,World. Score and parts. 55 pages. Joshua A Idio #679162. Published by Joshua A Idio (A0.1074907).

Composed by Joshua A. Idio. Chamber Music. String Quartet. This is a two-movement piece comprising of a prelude and an allegro. The entire piece is meant to convey a simple story of witnessing the change of different lifestyles, from the peaceful and simple rural life to the electrifying grandeur of urban city life. The prelude, signifying the rural atmosphere, begins with unsettling chords that feel seasonal and constantly moving. The different string melodies are as lovingly soothing as playing in the grassy fields and mountains. They are fun, pleasant, and whimsical, and they express the rather playful and tranquil setting of rural living. The beginning chords may feel unusually active, but it also adds to the color of this calming tranquility. Life couldn't be any better. In contrast to the fun and joyful theme of the prelude, the allegro embodies the absolute hustle and bustle of the big city. Explosive harmonies progress through the movement. Melodies from the prelude now intertwine with this new faster theme, playing more lively and vigorous. The mood has changed. Everything seems fast-paced and maybe overloading. But, maybe that's not a bad thing. A bit into the movement, as the hustle and bustle finally slow down, the essence of the prelude returns to calm the music. Homesickness mixed with overwhelming emotions is just as powerful of an expression as joy or anger. Filled with confidence and resolve, the music quickens back into its fast theme. The nature of intense focus, inspired by the urban surroundings, mixes with the joy and fun of the old ways. Everything now seems not just more familiar and comforting, but lively as well. As the music reaches its end, those unsettling chords from the prelude return to once again remind us that the rural lifestyle will always be a part of us. Maybe this city life won't be such a bad thing. We experience the best life when it comes with change. While I never lived in a rural community myself, I can empathize with the experience of people who have from their own stories and emotions. And when they move into the overwhelming cityscape, they sometimes either break down or build up. In the end, though, I can never really understand what it is like until I move into a rural community. But I know nothing will ever change how they grew up there, as the experiences always seem to follow them into the next chapter of their adventures. And it is because of that kind of beautiful resolve, did I nickname this Prelude and Allegro Urbanalia. When life meets change it opens up a whole new story.

Program note: The work opens with the majestic scene of spring’s first daybreak as the morning light shines on the snow-covered peaks of the Adirondacks. The sun, finally high enough in the sky to meet the snowy slopes and valley treetops, sets them ablaze.  And then it begins. Joyfully, a world comes back to life. Rivers thaw and unbound streams of fresh-melted water bounce, gurgle and surge. Animals stir, birds reappear, all rushing through the days, now relieved of the weight of winter. Hesitantly, bright-green sprouts, fuzzy buds, and flowers emerge. The springtime world dances. And all the while, the sun continues to rise, earlier and earlier, frantically, like a hound dashing to overtake its shadow. This galloping energy brings us to the majestic and final sunrise of spring, for summer will now insist on its turn. And as the morning fades into brilliant day, we are left with only a memory. A memory guaranteed to return. Next spring.

Bells,Boomwhackers,Glockenspiel,Handbell,Handchime,Orff Instrument,Xylophone - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.564948

By Sharon Wilson. By Elisha Albright Hoffman. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Children,Easter,Romantic Period,Sacred. 12 pages. Sharon Wilson #3087245. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.564948).

This arrangement is one of the 10 hymns included in the collection Ten Classic Hymns for 8-note Bells and Boomwhackers (with Color Coded Notes).

This sheet music is notated for 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating a 2-part instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument).

Both parts play the melody for one verse beginning with part one (handbells) on the melody and part two (Boomwhackers®) on harmony. After a short interlude, part two plays the melody for the second verse while part one plays harmony. If you want to play only the first verse, an optional ending is provided or it can be skipped to perform the two verses together.

Included in this set of scores is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate score for each instrument. A note chart is also provided to aid in the learning and teaching of this song. Lyrics are provided as well for sing along enjoyment.

This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. If you have a set of bells or tubes with a different color scheme, Chroma-Notes Stick Ons can be purchased and applied so the instruments match the Boomwhackers® color scheme. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer.

Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure.

The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one note to each person. Note assignment suggestions are included.

Though this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, these arrangements are playable by any 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel (though the color coding may not match).

Other suggestions and uses:
* have both parts played by bells or both parts played using only Boomwhackers®
* form a choir using multiple sets of bells and/or Boomwhackers® (this would amplify the sound and allow more people to participate)
* use as part of the music education for children at school, home, or church

Composed by Elizabeth Essex. Children,Instructional. Score. 8 pages. Elizabeth Essex #6626591. Published by Elizabeth Essex (A0.920576).

Doggie Tales for Piano is a set of fun musical stories meant to entertain preschoolers while reiterating reading skills. These books use finger number and rhythmic notation, and gradually integrate alpha notation.

This series is built to correlate with preschool piano method books such as Wunderkeys Piano for Preschoolers, Faber’s My First Piano Adventures, or Alfred’s Music for Little Mozarts. Each method book series works well for preschool-age kids when they are ready to learn something new, but what about when they aren’t? Very young children constantly need new material and activities to stay engaged, but often aren’t ready for the next step in a lesson book. Marshall's Big Day, the first book in the series, follows the Labrador Marshall as he follows his big sister through her basketball-filled day. Young students will enjoy the story and illustrations as they practice reading on the black keys.

Book 1 Skills - Practice with pre-reader finger number and rhythmic notation, playing one hand at a time, on two black keys.
