This is the theme from the 1971 historical biopic film Nicholas and Alexandra. Henry Mancini & his Orchestra recorded a very popular rendition of the lush, beautiful instrumental music. Engelbert Humperdinck recorded a vocal version with lyrics entitled Too Beautiful to Last. That title refers to the fleeting nature of a fantasy love shared by two people that is not destined to withstand the test of time. Thus, the melancholy melody is beautiful, yet delicate - like castles made of sand....

Chariots of Fire is a 1981 British historical sports drama film directed by Hugh Hudson, written by Colin Welland and produced by David Puttnam. It is based on the true story of two British athletes in the 1924 Olympics: Eric Liddell, a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of God, and Harold Abrahams, an English Jew who runs to overcome prejudice. Ben Cross and Ian Charleson star as Abrahams and Liddell, alongside Nigel Havers, Ian Holm, John Gielgud, Lindsay Anderson, Cheryl Campbell, Alice Krige, Brad Davis and Dennis Christopher in supporting roles. Kenneth Branagh makes his debut in a minor role.

Chariots of Fire was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won four, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Score for Vangelis' electronic theme tune. At the 35th British Academy Film Awards, the film was nominated in 11 categories and won in three, including Best Film. It is ranked 19th in the British Film Institute's list of Top 100 British films.

The film's title was inspired by the line Bring me my Chariot of fire! from the William Blake poem adapted into the British hymn and unofficial English anthem Jerusalem; the hymn is heard at the end of the film.[4] The original phrase chariot(s) of fire is from 2 Kings 2:11 and 6:17 in the Bible.

Nicholas Hare's cunning arrangement of the composition inspired me to orchestrate it for a brass quintet, where mostly the tuba plays percussive effects to indicate the tension of the race. Enjoy!

That's Amore as arranged for easy piano. The main melody is shared between the treble stave and the bass stave, whilst the bass-line stays low in the bass stave.

Note for teachers: sometimes the B below middle C is written in the bass stave and sometimes written in the treble stave as a ledger-lined note.

During the moments where the melody is very close to the bass line (all in the bass stave), the notes with stems down indicate Left Hand whilst the notes with the stems up indicate Right Hand.

Here's an idea - get a guitarist on board to provide some rhythmic accompaniment. There are chord symbols throughout the piece so a good chord-reader will know what to do. Instant duet.

Missa Orbis Factor is a set of Gregorian Mass chants sung for hundreds of years. These beautiful melodies are here set for flute and piano, mostly in a contemplative mood. The Gloria is a livelier setting and also somewhat more difficult. These pieces can be used in Mass, as quiet prelude music for weddings or funerals, as part of sacred concerts, and as teaching repertoire for the flutist. These settings will work with organ with some minor adaptations of the piano accompaniment. The solo part can be shared among other C instruments, adjusting octaves as necessary.
