This Modern Single is part of the First Position Christmas collection. This collection is a guitar teacher's dream! Each selection in the collection includes the melody of a popular Christmas favorite, each carefully edited for the beginning guitarist. Each song has at least two versions - one with TAB and chords included, and one edited for classically trained guitarists, including fingering suggestions. For rhythmically complex songs, a simplified rhythmic version is also included. Special effort has been put into making the selections as accessible as possible to those in their first year of study, and all of the pieces are exclusively in first position with the exception of All I Want for Christmas, which has a few notes at the very end in second position.

In his O Salutaris, Nicholas White provides us a very expressive and beautiful Eucharistic motet. This traditional Latin text has been set for SATB choir and organ. The text of the O Salutaris Hostia is taken from the last two verses of Verbum Supernum, one of the five Eucharistic Hymns written by St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) at the request of Pope Urban IV (1261-1264) when the Pope first instituted the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1264. This beautiful text is most frequently sung in its liturgical contact at Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament or as a Eucharistic motet at Mass.

This motet is dedicated to the St. Cecilia Choir of Chicago's historic St. John Cantius Church. The composer, Nicholas White, directed the premiere of his new motet, O Salutaris, on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Latin High Mass at St. John Cantius Church.

GLORIA was written in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Chorus Angelicus & Gaudeamus, and was completed on July 20th, 2015. The first performance took place on March 19th, 2016 in Hartford, CT, and a second performance on April 3rd, 2016 in The Chapel of St. Peter & St. Paul, St. Paul’s School, Concord, NH. For this performance, Chorus Angelicus & Gaudeamus were joined by members of The Chapel Choir of St. Paul’s School, and members of The Boston Cecilia, Boston, MA.

Florete Flores (“Send forth flowers as the lily�) is Nicholas White’s musical setting of Ecclesiasticus 39:19-21. Florete Flores and quotes the traditional Gregorian plainsong melody at the opening of the piece, in a dialogue between the two soprano parts, and uses an ostinato figure in the underneath parts to support the meandering melody. Quickly conjuring a sense of mystery, this short motet proceeds with challenging melodic material for the upper voices, supported by hauntingly repetitive harmonies from the altos, tenors and basses. An effective communion motet for any occasion.
