Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792821 Composed by Anton Bruckner. Arranged by Randall Malmstrom. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 42 pages. Gordon Cherry #6684765. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792821). Bruckner's Adagio from Symphony No. 8 has been arranged by Randall Malmstrom for an 8-part Trombone Ensemble. The Adagio is noteworthy in being the longest slow movement in the musical repertoire, (clocking in between 25 and 35 minutes in length) and the only work of his that uses a harp and cymbals. This beautiful 6-minute fragment is lush, deeply spiritual, solemn and warm. This movement is the central emotional core of the entire work. It is appropriate for advanced performers.Part 8 may be performed on a contrabass trombone for added depth.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Keyboard - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1135248 Composed by John Galt Carey. Classical,Contemporary. Score and parts. 39 pages. John Carey Compositions #735290. Published by John Carey Compositions (A0.1135248). A virtuosic showcase for two pianists. Combining a variety of stylistic influences (characterized primarily by distinctly jazz-tinged harmonies, encompassed within a late-romantic/impressionistic framework), this two-movement work features a wide range of opportunities for performers to demonstrate both their technical proficiency as well as expressive capabilities. Noteworthy for it's distinctly memorable opening theme, rhapsodic Reverie movement, and explosive Toccata (containing driving rhythms, complex meter changes, and Palm-glissandi), it can easily be programmed in a variety of contexts, particularly when a contemporary work is desired that is accessible to general audiences without being anachronistic or excessively derivative.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Cello,Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.1022791 Composed by Christian Martin. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 19 pages. Lux Novus #3211727. Published by Lux Novus (A0.1022791). Trio plays with a simple idea that is first stated in the opening measures and repeated in various ways throughout. After a moderate introduction that lasts for about one and a half minutes, the cello enters with the first theme. What is unique, and somewhat unconventional, about this largely disjunct theme is that it is performed almost entirely pizzicato, creating a pleasant and relaxing groove between the cello and piano. The pizzicato cello theme is in two parts, interrupted by a short, syncopated statement by all. There is a slow section in the middle of the piece, one that is to be played freely by the cello and clarinet, not constricted by meter, and written in a minor mode. This is in stark contrast to a piece that is otherwise very lively and high-spirited. Following this slow section, the performers softly come back with the simple idea at its original tempo and soon fall into a steady groove that features virtuosic figures in the clarinet. There is a steady rise in dynamics and harmonic rhythm from this point to the end of the piece. It ends on a high note; no pun intended. The piece has a jazzy quality overall. I grew up listening to composers like Leonard Bernstein and Samuel Barber and performers like Wynton Marsalis and Jaco Pastorius. Although the notes now inhabit their permanent place on the page, It is my hope that they reflect the improvisatory nature in which the piece was composed. ~ Christian Martin.

Woodwind quintet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMS141 Composed by Daniel Elder. Score and Parts. 49 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMS141. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMS141). 9 x 12 in inches.Composer's Notes Due Miniature follows two aesthetic ideas, depicted by the name of each movement. Capriccio may be thought of whimsically, as a fantasy, while Ballata can be treated as a dance. Additionally these two ideas may constantly interact as each movement contains traces of the other. As this music is not programmatic in nature, no specific imagery must necessarily be sought after, but rather the material can be woven as the performers see fit within the tempo and dynamic guidelines. Sensitivity should be paid to the note-value relationships present within many tempo changes, as well as hemioli and other perceived metric shifts. Finally, performers are encouraged to explore the full range of textural colors present as this will accentuate the development of these ideas.

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.901081 Composed by Paul Copeland. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 50 pages. Paul Copeland #5988217. Published by Paul Copeland (A0.901081). Audacious Binary Forms for pianist playing one or two pianos, won Australia’s most prestigious piano composition competition the Jean Bogan Prize for Piano Composition 2016. The world premiere was performed by Michael Kieran Harvey. He is considered by many as being one of Australia’s greatest living concert pianists. Michael specializes in performing world premieres of compositions by Australian composers. He is also a prolific composer of avant-garde music. ABSTRACT FROM THE GENERAL DIRECTIONS Audacious Binary Forms for piano is in a fractured binary form. Two types of structures exist; lettered structures, which are experimental structures, and explore the sonorities of the piano, and numbered structures, which are more traditional structures. A structure may be a single page or more than one page. Each page in a structure is to be played sequentially. For example, with structure C, consisting of three pages, C1, C2, C3, each page is played sequentially in numerical order, C1, C2, C3. EXPERIMENTAL STRUCTURESThe structures A, B, C, D, E, F, G, Percussion, CADENZA, and CODA are experimental. TRADITIONAL STRUCTURESThe structures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, are traditional. PREPARING THE SCORE FOR PERFORMANCE There are four different options for a performance. MINIMALIST OPTIONThe 13 cards cut from the CUTOUT page are shuffled. Card 4 Rag (1,2) is removed.  The 12 cards are placed face down. One card is revealed representing the structure that is to be performed. A member of the audience can be invited to shuffle the cards. STOCHASTIC OPTION An audience member or members can be invited to shuffle all the pages of the score. The resultant random sequence of pages becomes the whole score for the performance. PERFORMER’S OPTIONThe performer prepares the structures according to his musical tastes. All of the experimental structures should be performed. The performer is free to play none, some, or all of the traditional structures. Please note that each structure remains an independent structure and is played sequentially. For example, structure C, consisting of three pages would be played C1, C2, C3 in that order. PERFORMER/COMPOSER OPTIONMonths before the concert the performer can contact me at paulcopeland1@bigpond.com, to discuss the performance, and to work out an ideal performance structure for the work, taking into consideration the venue, expected size of audience, size of auditorium, music program, and if two pianos will be available. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SHEET MUSIC SIZE Please note that the score should be printed on separate pages (the notated pages), not back to back. Ideally the score should be printed on A3 pages in colour. However the score can still be printed in grayscale. The sheet music file is approximately 15Mb because the score is in full color.  BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION Paul Copeland is an award-winning multi-genre composer, graphic artist, programmer, teacher, and author, based in his home city of Melbourne. His compositional styles range from neo-classical, jazz, ragtime, and musical theatre to electronic, avant-garde, post-avant-garde, and experimental music. Born in 1947, Copeland grew up an only child in a musical household. His mother was a talented singer, his father an accomplished amateur pianist, composer of popular music, and internationally renowned travelling telepathist known as Argus The Boy Prophet. Copeland's musical studies commenced at the age of 16 when he began studying piano, and a year later, he enrolled at the Melba Conserv.

Although the recorder is often the instrument with wich children will make their first musical discoveries, it is also an instrument of the highest artistic merit. This series of books tries to link these two extremes, providing a carefully planned pathway between first, playful contact with the instrument and professional recorder playing. The three Tutor Books are suitable for use both with small groups and for individual tuition. Progress is methodical and is made in small steps placing great value on consistent work with breathing, sound production and the development of rhythmic security. In the Tutor books we speak directly to the child and provide carefully planned, precisely formulated exercises. We recognise that some children learning the recorder will not yet be able to read, but hope that this will provide an opportunity for a parent or teacher to become involved in the learning process. Each step in this process should be fun and accessable to both the parent/teacher and the child. Tutor Book 1 is intended for children from about six years of age. Previous musical experience is not essential but undoubtedly would prove useful. It concentrates on the notes B, A, g, E1, C2 and D2, leaving sufficient time and space for the development of articulation, rhythmic security and breathing techniques. Tutor Book 2 adds the notes C1, D2, F2, E2, F2 and B flat, whilst Tutor Book 3 completes the range up to C3 - at which point the treble recorder can be introduced. Tutor Books 1, 2 and 3 are complemented by Tune Books 1, 2 and 3. The tune Books are matched to the stages of learning process of the Tutor Books and provide additional practice pieces and exercises, sometimes with accompainment. In the Teacher's Commentary we explain the teaching methodology behind the tutor and provide stimulation for ideas for lessons. It will be helpful if the child has a manuscript book of her or his own, or some manuscript book. Dotty's Note Book (ED 12641) is specially designed for the purpose, with large staves suitable for children as well as plain pages for words and pictures. We wish users of this tutor every success and happiness with their recorder playing.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158398 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Historic,Patriotic. 18 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758679. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158398). Composed to commemorate the 20th year of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. This somber, gorgeous piece of music draws tears when presented correctly, and is an extraordinarily important contribution to the brass quintet repertoire. The Jewish “feast†(or “appointed timeâ€) of trumpets, as outlined in Leviticus 23:24-25, prescribes the observance: “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.†According to the Jewish calendar, the feast of trumpets in 2001 coincided exactly with the 9-11 attacks, which could indeed be thought of as “an offering made by fire.†Effectively no servile work was done on that day throughout the attacked nation, and it has indeed become a somber type of “sabbath†to observe every year. It seemed extraordinarily appropriate—perhaps even requisite—that a somber composition with trumpets be composed for the 20th annual observance of the horrific attacks on American soil, as a “Memorial†to those lost that day, and those who since perished in the Global War on Terror. “Where were you when you first heard about the 9-11 attacks?†This common question is posed to those who were of age to comprehend what had happened in 2001. Personally, I had just listened to an emotional rendition of Maurice Ravel’s “Pavane to a Dead Princess.†Elements of that musical memory influenced this present work “Memorial.†Other sources of inspiration—whether intended or subconscious—include Samuel Barber’s heart-wrenching “Adagio for Strings,†Michael Kamen’s “Quintet†for brass, and John Williams’ “Hymn to the Fallen.†The harmonies are thick and often dissonant, including many suspensions. The players get little rest, symbolic of the constant state of alertness of a shocked nation after being so brutally attacked. Perhaps of greatest symbolic import is the fact that there are exactly 911 notes in this composition. Because of this, it is crucial that the percussion part be performed, and that great care be taken by all performers to refrain from altering the notes or rhythms in any way. A comment on the interpretation of notation: all long notes that are tied to a staccato note on the downbeat are to be held to the downbeat and gently released, not held over.

Instrumental Solo,Ney Flute,Oboe/English Horn - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1122089 Composed by Igor Korneitchouk. Arranged by Drake Mabry, Igor Korneitchouk. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 19 pages. Studio at the Post #723162. Published by Studio at the Post (A0.1122089). Duration: 10 minutes, 16 pp. Description: In speaking of his recitation of his Four Quartets on phonograph, T. S. Eliot says: A recording of a poem by its author is no more definitive an 'interpretation' than a recording of a symphony conducted by the composer. The poem, if it is of any depth and complexity, will have meanings in it concealed from the author; and should be capable of being read in many ways, and with a variety of emotional emphasis.... Another reader, reciting the poem, need not feel bound to reproduce these rhythms: but, if he has studied the author's version, he can assure himself that he is departing from it deliberately, and not from ignorance. The composer could not have stated his intentions towards this piece better than to quote T. S. Eliot. No note or inflection is fixed in stone that it cannot be negotiated, changed to better suit the needs of the performer. This is especially true of the first movement which is composed around sections of the first of Eliot's Four Quartets (Burnt Norton), but applies generally to the whole piece. Much of the notation in this piece is meant to be suggestive. The performer may take a highly faithful approach to realizing the score, or consider the movements as models for directed improvisation. Movement 2, for example, asks the performer to continue to improvise in like manner, yet maps out a clear design for the music. Birthday Suit is dedicated to Robert S. Howe, a friend and obstetrician who welcomes into this world many people in their birthday suits. That is the most obvious reason for the title of this piece. A reason more germane to the music itself is the piece's reliance on the performer's own natural body rhythms (such as speech rhythms, involuntary eye movements, and rate of breathing) to help organize the flow of the music. In this way both metabolism and the written note cooperate to make music. There are three movements, Rhythm of Speech - Rhythm of Sight - Rhythm of Breath. Total 10 minutes. (Audio Sample of movement I is for oboe; YouTube Link of movement III is an arrangement for the Turkish ney.).

Score and parts. 2 pages. Kevin P. Holtg #4600465. Published by Kevin P. Holtg (A0.865962). A simplified arrangement of Lay All Your Love On Me by ABBA for Easy Piano. Dynamics and Expression are left to the performers discretion. Have fun!In this version a lot of the chords in the right hand part have been removed or simplified. The left hand has had the octaves removed and replaced with a single note pattern to drive the piece along. It sounds just as good on a Keyboard or Synth as it does on Piano. To show the versatility of this arrangement the audio demo was made using a combination of piano and synth. It starts with just a piano then you will hear the synth fade in with different sounds being used for the left and right hand parts. It then fades back to piano. Note: the only notes you hear are the ones written in the score, showing even a simple arrangement sounds good with a little work. Try it for yourself!

Available on CD from www.johnpitts.co.uk/cds.htm or download from https://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dc.asp?dc=D_1EMIPM08TOCCATA for PIANO was written in response to a request from a friend for a ten-minute piece. My aim was to write a work that suited his technical agility on the keyboard and his ability to get to grips with motoric, driving music. I limited myself to a relatively small amount of material, which is constantly re-used in various forms, and on various parts of the keyboard, and smaller thematical cells are individually explored. Choice of tessitura, and varying levels of rhythmic stability, harmonic clarity and metric organisation, are the main structural elements. Motoric energy is regulated until the final release in the last section, where use is made of the entire range of the keyboard, all the thematic fragments converge, and the full momentum is released. Performers should note the use of the Sostenuto pedal (bars 181-260 & 354-407), which sustains the selected notes (in the first case a four-note chord, and in the second, just over an octave chromatic cluster). Needless to say, this piece should only be attempted by accomplished players...
