Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158199 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,March,Patriotic. 32 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758476. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158199). There is nothing more quintessentially military than the grand sound of marches at special military events. Hundreds of marches have served their purposes through the many decades of military tradition in the United States of America. This 3.5-minute march was composed for the occasion of the change of command of the 55th Wing—“The Fightin’ 55thâ€â€”under Air Combat Command, located at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. The ceremony took place on June 14, 2019, which was also Flag Day. The new march served as a grateful tribute to the outgoing Commander, Colonel Michael H. Manion, and a welcoming gesture to the new Commander, Colonel Gavin P. Marks. Printed copies of the score were presented to the Commanders before the ceremony, and the march was premiered as the final pre-ceremony musical selection. The opening motifs are strongly reminiscent of the introductory measures of the “Air Force Song†most commonly played by Air Force brass quintets. Keeping in tradition with the form of most marches, the “Trio†section presents new material in a new key (down a fifth), with a contrastingly quiet dynamic. The opening motif of the Trio strain is a mutation, or a paraphrase, of “Anchors Aweighâ€, emphasizing the joint-force nature of the 55th Wing. The melody is repeated with a louder dynamic and a countermelody in the horn, and then is repeated once more with increased excitement in the accompaniment, variety of dynamics, and even a temporary key shift. Straying from the form most used by the “March Kingâ€, John Philip Sousa, Dr. Thrower omitted a fourth or final strain, and instead he modulated the key back to the original B-flat major and brought back the melodic content from the first strain. This form predates Sousa, and was more commonly used in Europe and early America. It smacks of “sonata formâ€, and even the modern formal designation of “recapitulating march†alludes to sonata form. The final recapitulating strain repeats with an obbligato soaring above it in the first trumpet part, now on piccolo trumpet. The march ends with a short coda that brings back the opening motivic allusion to the Air Force Song. Due to the selected formal structure, this march, “The Fightin’ 55thâ€, is much more unified than most typical marches. The very nature of military marches (including America’s beloved “Stars and Stripes Foreverâ€) displays four or even five completely unrelated melodies, or strains, throughout. The incorporation of thematic structure similar to that found in sonata form indeed makes “The Fightin’ 55th†an appropriate and even artistic concert march.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.947270 Composed by John Philips. Jazz,Latin. Score and parts. 25 pages. John Philips Music Service #3867639. Published by John Philips Music Service (A0.947270). First adjust the tempo. This is Latin Big Band. Montunos are played at 175 or more, like sambas and merenges. The idea is a simple structure of 2,4,8 or 16 bars for solos, the harmonic content is limited so the soloist must be very clever. The piano is Cuban Style and written out. Will open for solos. Drums, bass & piano must be played as is to get the effect. . Good for programs or dances. . The rhythm section must play as written for the best effect. You must have a full time claves player---without claves you are not playing LATIN MUSIC.If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. This series of charts uses nothing more complicated than eighth notes, are not frantic or screamers, extreme ranges and are hemi-demi-semi-quaver free. They depend on intonation and the players being not intimidated by what he is asked to play. There is no contest to see how high you can go before you need oxygen , how many notes you can play in 9 seconds or before your bell overheats , or how long it takes the audience to cover their earsRelaxed and confident players always play more in tune. Good harmonies, lines and realistic rhythm patterns will produce a good result that will swing and be enjoyed by player and listener alike.

Published by John Philips Music Service (A0.947269). Set the tempo for about 90. This is a trumpet/fluegelhorn feature ballad that requires a strong lyrical soloist that can play in tune. It is very pretty, not difficult but must be played as is to work. First chorus is solo, second chorus first half ensemble, bridge is trumpet solo in front of brass section, last 8 modulates up for a big finish. Appropriate for a working band or a good high school or college band. Dedicated to Randy Brooks. Solo part has more than eighth notes but tempo is slow.If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1434489 By Metallica. By James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop,Rock. 21 pages. Derek Hasted #1014651. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1434489). NOTHING ELSE MATTERS (Metallica) - 3 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical Guitar primarily - also suits Acoustic Guitar or Electric GuitarDerek Hasted writes This is an astonishing piece - hypnotically repetitive, yet full of contrasts, big builds and a reflecting ending. And well-known to so, so many people. My arrangement for 3 guitars is somewhere between intermediate (for Guitars 1 & 3) and advanced intermediate (Guitar 2), and will also suit a large ensemble.Guitar 1 is the tune, and Guitar 3 provides the countermelodies. Both are 3 pages long, and a bit of sticky tape to the joins will ensure they fit a normal music stand with no page turns.Guitar 2 (the electric guitar part) is 4 pages, but I have placed open strings and then a bar’s rest at the foot of the page to allow plenty of time for page turns. On a classical guitar we can’t bend the top string by a semitone, so my arrangement uses slurs to make a very acceptable alternative (and a couple of bars have yet more alternatives in the score). The full 6 minutes of the original is here, in the same key, using a variety of textures that help to capture the build-up and decay of the original.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Published by John Philips Music Service (A0.947271). First adjust tempo...175 minimum. This is a montuno which is often mistaken as a samba or merengue. The bass line must be as written. The harmonic structure for the solos is indicated and is limited so the soloists must think in lines, not just a lot of notes. You must use claves full time---no claves--no Latin Music. Intonation and a relaxed feel are needed to make this swing. If there are no solos, skip letter E/EE and go to F for the 2 bar chase solos, into the cascade, rhythm section solo, quiet interlude to sign. etc.If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533347 Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Paul Wehage. Concert,Opera,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 22 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2348197. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533347). One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in 1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director ofmusic of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London. While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series in London. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octave mechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and began touring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the «turcophone ». He performed in all the European capitals and then traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Manilla, Java, through China and then to India where he finally settled in Mysore, becoming the director of the Royal Music for the Maharadjah. It was during this period that he converted to Islam and changed his nmae to Ali ben Sou Alle (or Ali, son of Soualle). He subsequently travaled to Ile Maurice, to French Polynesia, the Cap of Natal and the Cap of Good Hope. All of these voyages were subjects of musical works which Soualle entitled Souvenirs de... and may perhaps have been part of a collection known as The Royal Album which was presented to the Prince of Wales after a royal concert. Soualle returned to Mysore in 1858 and was almost killed in the Indian Revolution. Around 1860, Soualle returned to France for health reasons and began publishing his own music. On March 27 1865, he performed a command performance for the Emperor Napoleon III at the Tuileries Palace in the presence of the entire Imperial Family. After 1865, nothing more is known about him. Soualle not only performed on the clarinet, saxophone and piano, but also frequently sang during his concerts. He also wrote songs while he was in London. His opera fantasies are usually written for the Alto saxophone and are generally in the form of an introductory aria with cadenza, a theme with one or more variations and then a final waltz movement in rondo form with a final brillant variation. This specific work opens with motives from the Opera‘s overture, leading to Donna Anna’s 1st act aria Or sai, chi l'onore. The duet Là ci darem la mano is the subject of two variations followed by a brief interlude using Zerlina’s aria Batti, batti, o bel Masetto and then the final section is the duo Andiam’ Andiam ‘ Mio Bene between Don Giovanni and Zerlina which ends the Act I duet. The work ends with a brillant coda

Published by Grant Horsley (A0.785792). One of the famous rags recorded on piano roll by Joplin in 1902.This arrangement has been made simpler to allow more pianists to have a go at this great rag.The main change was to convert it to 4/4 instead of the (2/4 common two-step time signature for rags). The main reason is for easy of reading- and maybe easier on the eye to comprehendI have taken out nearly all of the large stretches and limited the harmony parts to what is essential and nothing more. There are no big leaps or complex rhythms. It is 4 pages long and 4 mins 30 in length. The youtube link has the full score for you to assess suitability.I have set it for intermediate player- it's great fun and would be useful as a showpiece, something to play for concerts, recitals, productions, etc.

Castanets,Flute,Guitar,Timpani,Trumpet,Woodblock - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1324942 Composed by Jonathon Erickson. 21st Century,Chamber,Contemporary. 78 pages. J. Erickson Compositions #913158. Published by J. Erickson Compositions (A0.1324942). A three part suite of themes dedicated to the character of an altruistic monk hailing from the desert of a hostile land. Instrumentation consists of Flute, Trumpet, Classical Guitar, Timpani, Castanets, and Secco (woodblock). Ten Minutes in length with all three movements. The Idealistic: Skamos Levenbrand portrays the naivete of a young hero - one who wants nothing more than to save the world and protect everyone. A lofty and laudable goal, but one that our monk may soon realize may not actually be possible  The Wandering: Skamos' faith has been shaken. Though he anticipated life in Aknir was rough, he never considered that the real monsters in life may actually be the 'civilized' beings he swore to protect. This leaves Skamos shaken, unsure if his path in life is still righteous. The Virtuous: Skamos has overcome many of his uncertainties and has become self actualized. He has meditated on the concepts of life, death, and love and discovers there is more to life than simple heroism, and accepts that the simple pleasures in life are best shared.

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533492 Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 16 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3000185. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533492). Souvenirs d’Angleterre is composed of an opening aria with a number of cadenzas followed by a Valse brillante with variations. Stylistically, the work seems to be more influenced by German Classical music (note especially the classical piano figurations in the opening aria, reminiscent of such composers as Beethoven and Weber). The Valse has an expressive variation in a minor key and the entire work ends, elegantly, pianissimo. One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in1820 in Arras, France. Published by John Philips Music Service (A0.947265). Very easy chart for middle schools on up. Based on 12 bar blues it runs at about 140 and has simple themes that are done with unison sections. It’ funky 2 beat and make you want to clap your hands on 2 & 4. Fun to play, younger players can do it and learn. It usually works to have the horn players that are not playing in the first part of the chat clap their hands over their head on 2 and 4. This will get the people into it. This is a simple funky 2 beat and should be kept that way. Piano has dissonant afterbeats--should be soft.If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere.
