In July of 2005, Claire Deluca, a French Actress well known for her association with Marguerite Duras asked Paul Wehage to write music for a work entitled Nevers, an adaptation of the scenario and notes for the film Hiroshima Mon Amour. The work was first presented at the Marché de La Poésie at the Cinema Harlequin in Paris and formally premièred at the 10th Hommage à Marguerite Duras in the Hall of Les Roches Noires in Trouville, France on October 3, 2005. This present version is a reworking of that material and is dedicated to Claire Deluca.In Nevers, a woman tells a stranger about her love of a German soldier in occupied France, his subsequent death and finally being punished by having her head shaved during the Liberation of France.The music seeks to express the strong emotions that the woman expresses: love, erotic desire, grief and finally acceptance, but through a veil of memory which Duras sees as being constantly disappearing, almost before each moment is finished. The work should be played as if from another time, almost as if the music only existed as thought rather than sound. Although the emotions are violent, the expressive effects should always be interiorized.

His symphony was composed while he was in America and was first performed by the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall on December 16, 1893. It has been said that Dvorak's themes in his symphony were inspired by American folk melodies, especially Afro-American or American Indian. But his themes are just as similar to Bohemian folk music and most likely from that music. This arrangement is based on the one played in the movie Clear and Present Danger by the United States Air Force Band. It has been used at presidential funerals for the departure ceremonies at Andrews Air Force Base for Presidents Reagan, Ford and Bush. It was used in 1998 for the dis-interment ceremony for the Vietnam Unknown at Arlington National Cemetery and is still used today by military bands at Arlington.Jari Villanueva earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Music from Kent State University, Ohio. Here is George Gershwin's version of I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles, which I arranged based on a Gershwin piano roll from the early 20th century.  It was held in a private collection for decades.   Here for the first time is my sheet music arrangement for this classic from long ago.  Before he was famous, George was what was known as a song plugger.  He would play newly composed songs to help generate record sales.  In the early 20th century, many homes had player pianos.  George's performance was preserved on such a roll and is only now available to the general public.Composed in 1918 by John W. Collette.  The phrase “blowing bubbles” symbolizes the act of chasing dreams, hopes, and aspirations. This is a 14 page work in three movements that has a performance time of roughly 12:30 to 13:30.  I composed this sonata back in 2012 and it was given a filmed premiere by Brett Parnell on banjo and Daniel Corr on guitar.The first movement is a sonata form that opens in G minor and ends in G major. The second movement is a set of variations on an old shape note tune known as Star in the East, and the third movement is a five-part rondo that recapitulates themes from the first and second movements. This sonata is part of a larger cycle of chamber sonatas I have been composing since 2000 which began with my sonata for flute and guitar and pairs the guitar up with woodwinds, strings and brass.  The over-arching concept that guides the chamber sonata cycle as I've been working on it is to draw upon Haydn and Clementi's monothematic sonata forms as a template for synthesizing 18th century galant era processes of gestural development with American vernacular and popular styles, often from the age of ragtime up through to the 1940s and beyond.

This piece works well as a choir anthem for funerals or for any evensong themed service, and is written in a comfortable, singable range for everyday singers. Albert William Ketèlbey (1875-1959) was an English composer, conductor and pianist, best known for his short pieces of light orchestral music. He was born in Birmingham and moved to London in 1889 to study at Trinity College of Music. After a brilliant studentship he did not pursue the classical career predicted for him, becoming musical director of the Vaudeville Theatre before gaining fame as a composer of light music and as a conductor of his own works. One of his earliest works in the genre, 'In a Monastery Garden' (1915), sold over a million copies and brought him to widespread notice; his later musical depictions of exotic scenes caught the public imagination and established his fortune. Such works as 'In a Persian Market' (1920), 'In a Chinese Temple-Garden' (1923), and 'In the Mystic Land of Egypt' (1931) became best-sellers in print and on records; by the late 1920s he was Britain's first millionaire composer. Ketèlbey's popularity began to wane during the Second World War and his originality also declined; many of his post-war works were re-workings of older pieces and he increasingly found his music ignored by the BBC. In 1949 he moved to the Isle of Wight, where he spent his retirement, and he died at home in obscurity. On the last night of the 2009 Proms season, the orchestra performed his 'In a Monastery Garden', marking the fiftieth anniversary of Ketèlbey's death—the first time his music had been included in the festival's finale. This arrangement of 'In a Chinese Temple-Garden' has been created with the modern concert band in mind and is sensitively cross-cued for smaller ensembles.
