Each movement of the work is then a simplearrangement in my own musical style of my original tunes. The formal and harmonic languageof the work is very simple, direct, and uncluttered throughout, as is appropriate for folk music.The first movement, Highland Ballad (Scotland), begins and ends with lyrical music. The middlesections contain settings of the basic melody—first presented over a bagpipe-like drone (withinterjections) and then in a full harmonization.The second movement, Ceremonial (Nigeria), combines a harmonic refrain along with a simplemelody in the Nigerian/Yoruba folk style. The antiphonal nature of the original is maintained by having the 1st violins and cellos as one ensemble, and the 2nd violins, violas and double basses as the other. Orchestral seating of violin 1, cello, viola, violin 2 works perfectly for this arrangement, and the score is laid out accordingly.Whilst the double bass part is a great addition to this arrangement, it can also be played without the bass. A violin 3 part is also included in case no violas are available.All of Emma's arrangements find creative and artistic ways to re-present original pieces in a way that suits the new instruments and ensemble whilst maintaining the integrity of the original piece.

Francisco Tárrega wrote his guitar piece in 1896 while staying in Granada. He named it after the 13th century Moorish palace in that city. The title means Memories of the Alhambra. The original masterpiece for guitar of Tarréga is also famous beacuse of technical skills. Most of the giant action films you hear today record with 6-8 (French) horns and they are often playing in unison or octaves. That is part of the massive sound. So, this arrangement can absolutely grow with your group. The piece was composed in 1942–43 in the midst of World War II. Presumably it was never performed since 1950, being completely forgotten. Jewish Dance is definitely among the masterpieces of Yiddish musical culture of the 20th century. Introductory text to the publication, written by Sergei Pichugin, includes a short biography of the composer and a description of the Jewish Dance.
